    That’s some nice ones 👍👍 I agree they should be some more visible way to know your not supposed be there, and yes I have been a few places with poorly posted signs that say no fun here. Great video 🎣

    My son loves fishing. He is 8-yrs old. Any tips on what I should get him for a starter pole or starter sets?

    • @SCOutdoorsman
      @SCOutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start out with something cheap and not to long of a pole for him. Both of my kids have cheap combo's on 5' rods. I tie hookless lures on them so they can cast them in the yard. Thanks for watching

    • @MindyourMatters
      @MindyourMatters 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SCOutdoorsman oh yes thank you for answering. I’ll make sure I keep those tips in mind when I get him his first rod and set. The casting without a 🪝 hook’ genius!

      It was mid spring and cold that morning. The Striper were hitting live Blue Herring and I was catching the catfish on live and cut bait. Thanks for watching

    Yeah they don’t play out there with that area. That sanctuary has made SC DNR millions of dollars from people not knowing and also from people knowing but not giving AF.

    "Please don't be a catfish..." damn I say this all the time when fishing stripers. LOL
    I haven't been there in a few years. My biggest gripe that they let you keep 10 daily, with no size limit. I'm ok with keeping 10 but personally, I wish they implement size limit of 18-20." I saw guys keeping 14-16" which are just too small. Let em grow some!

    • @SCOutdoorsman
      @SCOutdoorsman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching. Please don’t be a catfish, said all to often when targeting a specific species.

    How deep is that water up the river?

    • @SCOutdoorsman
      @SCOutdoorsman  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not deep at all where we were. 8’ to 15’ deep holes is where we were catching fish. Most of what we were is was 4’ to 6’ of water with spots shallower than that.

    a lot of folks dont realise strippers are a salt water fish that thrive in fresh water rivers and lakes in south carolina it all started years ago ww2 they needed power for sub base in Charleston SC so the built a dam on the cooper river with locks when the closed the locks they did know the river was full of striper going up stream to spawn the fish could 100 + miles up streamin the congaree river and the branch off of wateree river to power dam in Lugof SC after the war in was over 1945 people started fishin with cane poles was not a lot of fresh water tackel back then people had thier poles jerked out of thier hands and lines broke did not what is going on finally some landed some of the new fish no one knew what they were wild life folks involved new the were salt water fish yet then thriving in these rivers they neted small 3-4 in striper in the river they had grow in fresh water too small to swim 50 miles up to the dam from the ocean they tried to spawn some no luck same water as river then theydiscovered had to add current to spawn tanks it worked it was sam curre as river 4 m per hour they spawned a new fishery is bornen the rest is history this may be only placein he world thisca happen du to the long 100 mi river from the ocean

    They used to have bouys up but they always get tore down. The signs get ripped out of the ground also. It’s nothing to see 50-100 Chinese/Vietnamese/Mexicans loading up on striper in the sanctuary. Game wardens could write tickets everyday in the spring but seem to rarely mess with them. You on the other hand that’s a different story.

      Not a lot of DNR Officers around these days. Only have 2 in Richland County and THAT is a PROBLEM. Can't believe they don't address this at the governor's office.
