I gotta say, this is by *FAR* the most realistic truck set Lego has ever released. I probably wont ever get it due to price and the set having generally simple functions, but it is really cool.
Great set. I flipped everything left to right so the steering fits Australian roads. Then I dropped the sodding Prime Mover and the only bits I have not found are the pieces that make up the front grille.
Cool! I wish it came with duel tires in the back though. Then it'd be a true 18 wheeler. I suppose a lot of trucks like this nowadays do have only ten wheels though. Still super cool and realistic.
I don't get why people hate this. Suspension is just a thing of a set, it isn't everything, in offroading it would still be bad because it's rear wheel drive The CLAAS was similar to this, just simplicity, I mean, the CLAAS was just a log picker machine, but similar in the fact that you can customize it, don't like it's trailer? Give it a new one.
A great build. I did not find the opening and closing of the container doors a problem. It will certainly topple with a heavy load but I feel that it is probably intended for carrying Lego!
There are a lot of LEGO designer videos on TH-cam, check them out: th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=lego+designer+video I also suggest to check out the Podcast series made for the LEGO Bugatti Chiron, it has tons of interesting information: www.lego.com/en-sg/themes/technic/bugatti-chiron/podcast
Will you upload the instructions? I understand it will take time since it is a large book, but I want to know when to look for it. I could not find them anywhere.
When (if) I get this, I am making a belly dump trailer instead. The one that comes with it just does not look real to me and nothing like that is used around where I live.
Great review! Although it is definitely a beatiful looking model, the functions a little bit dissapointing, also no gearbox pieces, thats kinda sad. Could you please make a review for the B model it also looks great on the box.
Yeah, I consider buying it just to get the parts cheaply - I have lots of gears, motors (Minstorms set) and I have bought a little of pneumatics on Bricklink recently, so I think I need to get some basic building bricks and this set provides just that.
Well, the excavator is far too expensive for me (and maybe I don't need a whopping number of 3900 bricks? :D) Also, I don't need the electric parts. Xerion is an option, though.
True, Xerion also have motor, but I think you can find it on sale, but at the same time it's quite hard to find, I am in kinda the same situation as you now, I bought Arocs as a source of pieces but its way to beautiful to disassemble) I have also bought Mindstorms) What I like about Xerion is that it have plenty of gearbox details, 2 big turntables, actuator and also beatiful color)
RacingBrick I already watched it (another awesome video) , it was me who spoke to you last night about camera lens, soon as this comes to the UK I'm buying this 👍
Milyenek a normál #6-osokhoz képest?
Szép mozdulat. :-) Ja, azokra. Van annyira erős, mint a régi? Ha esetleg terhet kell viselnie... Megreformálná a konnektoros kaszniépítési szokásaimat.

RacingBrick Suspension for The Cab. Look at The Truck. Do You see Twin Wheels? The Truck must be in Wide more. That Truck is in The USA a Masterpiece in Construction. Long,High,Wide. But at this Set You cannot See this Size. Lego can Do it Better. Look at The Mercedes Arocs
+Peter Kemna at this scale I think this is the level of realism you can achieve. If Lego wanted to build this at Arocs scale, the set would be huge and expensive. You need to think about the balance between the playability, look and price.

I don't think that creativity is limited to free building. You can *play* with the creations and still be creative with storytelling, you can also modify, transform etc. Creativity can be expressed in a zillion ways.
DeeZanic....so don't so far l have made 14 modifications to the truck and have not started the trailer yet the lack of a windscreen started me thinking of changes from there l simplified the steering and crowded sleeper area, the alignment of the head lamps is another, can't wait to tackle trailer balance problem...the only limitation is your imagination !!!
You start with kits then work your way out. Current build I'm working on is a recreation of the human body. Three years so far and only the shoulders are done.
The only thing good about this set is its LOOKS. Other than that, it is NOT appealing in anyway possible. We buy TECHNIC sets for their functions and robustness which it lacks in both areas. $180 for 2600 pieces in a set this size and functionality means NO to this set.
It's actually a good price per piece value for a Technic set. Still, too bad it has no interesting functions and the only one that works well is steering.
Well, 1) If they wanted to be realistic with the looks of the engine, then there should be a big rotating fan, but no valves/cylinders (I don't know what it was supposed to resemble); 2) The fifth wheel mechanism is dead simple and what's worse, it still doesn't work well; 3) The trailer is not balanced well; 4) Such a detailed and big truck could offer some kind of an innovative function - even some working wipers would be a cool, moving detail; 5) There is no suspension (I can forgive that since it's a road truck, but it would be cool to have it).
1) There is a rotating Lego imitation of the fan and as they want to actually show you that the engine works they expose the motor components, every Lego Technic engine works this way, remember? 2) How do you know the fifth wheel does not work well? Did not have any issues with it. It's simple and it's working. 3) The trailer is decently balanced, I made a mistake of trying to load/unload while it was detached. Check my new video about it. 4) Really, working wipers? :) C'mon... It's a truck, it has truck functions. The steering is pretty innovative for example, it also has a working steering wheel what very few big Technic sets have.
I see the point in 1) and 3) (watched your second video in the meantime). Talking about the fifth wheel - I would expect it to lock automatically when the trailer slips in and to be only DISengaged manually. Such a mechanism can use just the power of gravity or can be propelled by a rubberband that locks the trailer in place. Thanks for the reply, nonetheless.
I notice that the front of the box from official lego (US) website (www.lego.com/en-us/product/mack-anthem-42078) also has number of pieces info printed, while your box doesn't have. Do you know why and is there any actual difference between these two "version"? Thanks!
B model review - th-cam.com/video/dCbj5zlsdtg/w-d-xo.html
Bought this for my dad for christmas since he's a truck driver and this is the best looking truck yet. Found it at a local toys r us out early
+Shawn Hauptmann enjoy, it's a great set!
My dad is a trucker to 😂 looks like its not that rare
I gotta say, this is by *FAR* the most realistic truck set Lego has ever released.
I probably wont ever get it due to price and the set having generally simple functions, but it is really cool.
12171010011010 whats with the mercedes unimog and mercedes arocs?
they were amazing lego sets, but I have been around those kinds of trucks, and this set just looks way more close to the real deal.
Just wait two or three years ;) .
Great set. I flipped everything left to right so the steering fits Australian roads.
Then I dropped the sodding Prime Mover and the only bits I have not found are the pieces that make up the front grille.

After 3 year of watching this video, I finally got it and built it!!!, definitely worth it, keep on making your videos, I love them!
Finally! A good technic model for us truck Fanboys!
It's like a hybrid of Technic and Creator. Looks pretty cool.
Working on my Mack anthem now. Starting step 6 and this thing is amazing
Cool! I wish it came with duel tires in the back though. Then it'd be a true 18 wheeler. I suppose a lot of trucks like this nowadays do have only ten wheels though. Still super cool and realistic.
First technic set that's interested me in almost two years. I'd almost given up on the range.
Great! Your Thumbnail looks great
great set and cool speed build!
My dog's name is Mack!!!
He is a french bulldog!
Thnx, this will be my first tech set =]
I don't get why people hate this.

Finally, very good review. Can't wait to buy one ;)
A great build. I did not find the opening and closing of the container doors a problem. It will certainly topple with a heavy load but I feel that it is probably intended for carrying Lego!
+barryc1948 if you check my other video about it I corrected the test and it works ok :)
Thanks. I did not spot the other one. I find your videos exceedingly good. Always worth watching.
+barryc1948 thank you, glad you like them!
Well done RacingBrick, Great Video that i liked before even watching it.. I Will definitely buy this set :)
A must have set for me :D
thinking of getting this and building the B-model garbage truck since Technic already has a bunch of Semi's
You can check my video about the garbage truck already :)
is the best lego that i see in my short life
PD: i have 11, please is lego!!!
Thank you for the presentation! Sure looks great and a grea piece donor. How much does it cost?
Should be around 140 euro, depending on the shop & country
Thanks, It would be great if you could post a photo of part lists both for Mack and the Rally car on your blog or on EB. Best regards.
MajklSpajkl o
Done, check it on EB.

I’m only 11 but I love your vidioes I’m getting this for my b day in June
Thanks! It's a very nice set so it is worth waiting :)
I want this set, need to find it somewhere.
I was always wondering just how clever those Lego designers should be. Any videos on their work in TH-cam?
There are a lot of LEGO designer videos on TH-cam, check them out: th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=lego+designer+video

Could you please build the B-model? The Garbage truck seems interesting.
No instructions available yet
18:46 ?! what is this hidden steering wheel used for ?
+vincen tim I think it is for the B model
Will you upload the instructions? I understand it will take time since it is a large book, but I want to know when to look for it. I could not find them anywhere.
Are you really expecting me to spend my time scanning hundreds of pages just for fun?
Apparently not. Thanks for a quick answer. I will take a trip to Toys ‘Я Us when I return home from my family.

o my gap is amazing
How easy would it be to rc this?
Come back in an hour or two and I'll show you :)
Here is my first RC attempt - th-cam.com/video/Nf4uBcN6rBo/w-d-xo.html
Where do you get your figures from, because they are perfect for technic and I might purchase some
I got most of them from Ebay and bricklink.com
RacingBrick OK, thank you, good video by the way
Thanks! :) search for "technic figure" on bricklink, you'll see all of them there
How many pieces does it have?
How much is this mack (in euro's)??
How long did this take?
nice presentation!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Should I buy it?
Sorry for bad English I am from Germany
Great review! Although it is definitely a beatiful looking model, the functions a little bit dissapointing, also no gearbox pieces, thats kinda sad. Could you please make a review for the B model it also looks great on the box.
Thanks! I'll do the B model review when the instructions will be available online
Yeah, I consider buying it just to get the parts cheaply - I have lots of gears, motors (Minstorms set) and I have bought a little of pneumatics on Bricklink recently, so I think I need to get some basic building bricks and this set provides just that.
for this purpose you'd better get Xerion or this new huge exavator (2017 models) this set looks more like a display one
Where did you buy it?
How much it takes to you to build ?
Can't remember exactly, 4,5-5 hours
Where did you get it?😭
if i’m going to buy this set, should i build the A or the B version? please let me know. i can’t choose.
Tijs Van kilsdonk you really should build both as they are really cool, the one you'd like to keep on display should be the second to build :)
RacingBrick ok thanks
What was the fate of the cat 😂😂 awesome set for being none motorised
Now it's motorised ;) - th-cam.com/video/Nf4uBcN6rBo/w-d-xo.html
No cats were harmed during filming :)
RacingBrick I already watched it (another awesome video) , it was me who spoke to you last night about camera lens, soon as this comes to the UK I'm buying this 👍
Ahh ok, different nick here I didn't recognize you :) Worth to get for sure!
Also, does it have any new parts?
As far as i can tell, there are a lot of recolors of newish parts, but no actual new parts.
How did you got this so early I want this
There're already some shops selling it
RacingBrick what kind of shops
Also question do you live in the uk or the us
Actually I live in Hungary :) Not sure where are you from, I know that you can buy these already in TRUs in the US.
RacingBrick TRU you say well that's cool
Its huge
Milyenek a normál #6-osokhoz képest?
Megreformálná a konnektoros kaszniépítési szokásaimat.
Anybody know where I can purchase it? Just started getting legos now that I have the money for it. Unfortunately this set is retired.
Bricklink is the "Ebay for LEGO", you can look for sellers in your region, or purchase internationally, used or new - www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=42078-1#T=S&O={%22iconly%22:0}

No instructions are available yet
I have that Lego and I built it, spend 15 hours for building

I 6 engine in the truck is that realistic?
+LRG 2014 Corvette attention to details: www.macktrucks.com/powertrain-and-suspensions/engines/mp8/
RacingBrick that pretty cool had no idea those were the engines used I always thought semi trucks use V engines
LRG 2014 Corvette Scania trucks is the last major company to have a V8, all large trucks have moved to the I6.
Ə
$300 set?
+TheGamer47 nope, around $160
Got mine for $160 CD on sale..reg $180
Found one for $78
its sad know that i want it so fucking bad but will NEVER get it ;-;

what this set comes in 2018
What it's not 2018 yet?!
I get the epicness, but the next time please, choose a different music piece! This one was way too much monotonous and repetitive.
For the rest, very nice video!
scaccolable got it got it, no more videos with this music :)
This was your first video I saw, and then I realized that you used the same song in other videos too! ahah
Anyway was just a (personal) suggestion, since the video are very well done!
No prob, I used this music so far for some speed build / review videos. For me it was fine and generic enough but I get your point (and was mentioned by others as well) so will try to find something less epic :)
RacingBrick drat....I was going to suggest the theme from Skyrim...now that is EPIC! :-)
Plz motorize
I hate stickers so much
This video so boring you’re not reviewing it
6 cylinder engine? A V12 would be more accurate.
Except that the Anthem does not have a V12...
Hmm I don't think LEGO is a very inspiring tool for creativity if you are following a manual.
I don't think that creativity is limited to free building. You can *play* with the creations and still be creative with storytelling, you can also modify, transform etc. Creativity can be expressed in a zillion ways.
That is also a good point

Different regulations in the US and in the EU
