For someone who’s been an invader since the early days of dks1 I seriously hope they don’t take that away from us & replace it with something else. I’ll be a little ticked off because invasion pvp is what brought me back to video games in a sense
I can't see them getting rid of it. They're the only people that do it. I do hope they really mix it up and make cool covenants with different objectives that go beyond "kill host".

Hey saint, great video man! Good to see you come back to a classic :) I would just like to clarify something about the Onikiri & Ubidachi. Before the patch, onislayer would combo into TWO L1's. Post patch the onislayer now combos into only ONE L1. So it does still combo but with fewer hits. Just like how the black knight glaive got a patch from a 4 hit combo to a 3 hit combo. In summary the onislayer with carthus rougue still can bleed you out very effectively with the onislayer combo
Still leaps and bounds more alive than every other game in the series, i have 1,2, and 3, and 3 is the only one ive had consistent action online. Though if anybody has the OG dark souls, take a nostalgia trip in darkroot, its the only place you can get action, and hardly anyone who plays there seems aggressive, lot of trading going on.
I resonate a lot with some of your thoughts here, for 1, 2, and 3. Invasions are near non-existent in them all now in favor of dueling, and the feel just isn't as good to me. Some of the best times I've ever had with video games was invading and being invaded in Souls games around the times of their respective releases, before everyone knew everything about the games and all the best metas to use and tactics to employ. Was a really unique and very enjoyable, sometimes frustrating experience that no other games have been able to recreate.

Sorcery/Miracles is trash no matter what. Pyro is viable because of BF/Fire surge and the ability to use dark which is the best infusion ( does about the same as phys and does good chip to shields)
@@bophadesknutz7798 Dude you sure? Sorcery is definitely viable in Duels. Like there are "top" tier sorcery users in the scene. Probably not in invasions. Miracles are probably only actually "viable" at max SL invasions or Spear of the Church.
He wasn't wrong about caster builds being bad because they genuinely were awful in 2016, which was the period in which he made his videos. It was only after new spells got added in the dlc such as Lightning Arrow, and the developers buffed spells significantly did they actually become good.
@@aether3456 I literally did not mention faith, so the Lightning Arrow example isn't really applicable. Even before the buff it was still very usable in the right hands. Not top tier meta, but still good. khknight and revan619 were TH-camrs that used sorcery and pyro and were decent at them.
@@WahKnight I was only giving an example with lightning arrow. My point is that spells weren't that good when Scott Jund was still making Dark Souls videos, but they did improve rapidly with patches and the DLC.
They've seen a lot of nerfs since then but at the time Scott was playing there really was no competing with a resin carthous or straightsword scaled off strength and or dex. You could out dps a greatsword then face trade if you had the first hit. Ds3 had kindergarden napkinmath levels of balence.
Lower level play is still quite active on this game, and that's pretty amazing to me. It's mostly the high level arena tryhards and min-maxed griefers that have moved on. Guess it really goes to show that playing the game as intended is more fun than playing it only to "win."
I miss your DS3 uploads. SL40+6 is still extremely active in DS3. Extremely. The best part about that SL is that people really have to commit to a build. Strength build with all the strength weapons at in their arsenal, plus a few quality weapons with heavy infusions for example. It's really fun.
When I stream DS3 invasions on twitch there's always like 10 people who don't know who he is. That's crazy to me. It's weird that this game has been out so long (3 years!) that some people showed up well after he'd stopped playing.
I know i'm a year too late but those first 4 minutes are a comedic masterpiece :D most creators would cut that out, but it is so fitting hahah i love your channel
I do this with my SL132 throughout the entire game. I equip auto-summon covenent item, use Dried Finger & Red Eye Orb and run through the level killing every enemy before I either get summoned, invade or get invaded. I repeat the process until I kill every enemy in the level and reach the boss fog. I hope to eventually bring this Character to NG+7 through this method (currently at NG+4). I can only do this over the weekend when there's more activity but its hella fun way to spend some me-time with a can of beer when wife's not around.
I saw all of this with a smile on my face, I remember getting excited about my fave content creators favorite-ing my comments.. the discord servers and fb support groups that would never cease to be active.. you will be missed dark souls multiplayer. You will be missed. F.

the difference between Splitleaf and BK Glaive is that even though Splitleaf has a better combo its weapon art sucks outside of the combo whereas the spin sweep is way better from a neutral stance

There are zero weapons that favor refined to sharp and heavy (one of the latter two is always better). It just gets you variety, i.e. would-be dex weapons alongside a greatshield/hardswapping stuff. Regarding campers, if they're really hanging around, they only get a couple estus per-invader even if they start with a lot. The ember bonus is a big deal though, like 27 vig embered equals 50 unembered. ~32 is 99 I think. If the bonus were just some set amount of levels like Pchain or like 30% more levels, then that'd be OK, but it's 30% more literal HP, so it defies level caps/scaling. But you know that. As for fog objective, ds3 levels are so insanely easy to run through. Generally you're picking between those problems, or "don't swing first" duel problems. Though 2v2 or 2v2+ even, can be neat. Shame sunbro invasions weren't a thing. "if your invader gets you below 30%..." Well yeah but that number isn't quite right. It's 30% from the base, but that's not the same as a 30% loss without the bonus. So like, 100 plus 30% is 30 more HP for 130 total, but the additional 30 is making up 30/130=23.01% of the new total. So with respect to that healthbar, it's a matter of if the invader gets you below 23% health; that's what means you're in your ember bonus.
My blood infused carthus curved sword is still really good on my 60 str 60 dex 60 hollow SL 419 build. I dont know what your talking about saint. But srsly why do so many people only have one character in a game that gives you like 10 game slots in a frikin RPG of all things. P.S. glad to see your still alive saint.

Yuup, this ol' gal is on it's last legs. I'd say either meta level 120 up to 140 is pretty active, kinda.... But nowadays I play on mid level 60~ you can get a lot of players on areas that typically have this level (Irithyll, parts of the Catacomb, Dungeon, Lothric castle, sometimes even Grand Archives and ArchDragon Peak). A lot of new players, believe it or not, roaming around hehehe...
i think surviving pontiff solo could be much harder than regular invasions because when you get to fight 3 prepared good invaders at the same time your host advantage will not save you good luck with that ... good stuff saint :)

I found ENB and watched him run DS2. Didn’t take long & I was hooked. I love this community.

Yuup, this ol' gal is on it's last legs. I'd say either meta level 120 up to 140 is pretty active, kinda....
But nowadays I play on mid level 60~ you can get a lot of players on areas that typically have this level (Irithyll, parts of the Catacomb, Dungeon, Lothric castle, sometimes even Grand Archives and ArchDragon Peak). A lot of new players, believe it or not, roaming around hehehe...

Agreed I hate invading lone host trying to duel, use arena for duels. When invading I want to fight more than 1 player at a time.

i think surviving pontiff solo could be much harder than regular invasions because when you get to fight 3 prepared good invaders at the same time your host advantage will not save you good luck with that ... good stuff saint :)
