1.22.22....time to forgive and forget...? also: Mervyn Johns, an unassuming actor; employed many times for his quite, gentlemanly nature......but Johns was the finest of heros in WW1 as an RFC pilot; If you know something about flying in canvas, wood and rudimentary rotating engines, then you'll know what that meant....crude aircraft, thin wire, exposure in open cockpits, incessant fear, ever-present flaming death...and no parachutes. When you watch Johns here, remember that.
If you close your eyes and listen to Richard Basehart, you might swear you were listening to John Huston. Which is ironic, because Huston directed Basehart the same year (1956) in "Moby Dick."
Interestingly that this movie's producer/director Joseph Losey, was deemed a communist & blacklisted in the US, he moved to the UK, and onscreen went by the name of Alec C. Snowden, screenplay writter Howard Koch, was also blacklisted as a communist & wrote under the name of Peter Howard. The film, originally titled With All My Heart, was produced at Shepperton Studios, where filming began in November 1955. And renamed titled " The Intimate Stranger is a 1956 British film noir drama film directed by Joseph Losey (under the pseudonym Alec C. Snowden), and starring Richard Basehart, Mary Murphy, Constance Cummings and Roger Livesey.[2] It was released in the U.S. as Finger of Guilt" Myron Fagan was one of the people exposing the marxist agenda, he was right, but clearly nothing much was done about it.
It does match " The Intimate Stranger is a 1956 British film noir drama film directed by Joseph Losey (under the pseudonym Alec C. Snowden).... It was released in the U.S. as Finger of Guilt."
Good movie. Story line and acting all very good.
Great British cast and, definitely, Richard Basehart for a very good film. Thanks.

It is amazing how in those days they would light a cigarette take a couple of puffs and crush it in the ashtray.
Thanks

he moved to the UK where we are not so narrowminded
He was a communist. It is evident in the story line...

Anything wirh Richard Basehart in is worth watching that lovely voice, a good film I must admit it didn't look good for him.
This film is misnamed on TH-cam. It is “Finger of Guilt” not “Intimate Stranger”. Please make sure the title matches the film.
