An Amazing, Heartfelt Story with themes that are universal: human connection is complex and difficult but is the thread that keeps us sane and makes life worthwhile.
I wish today's generation more like that officer. And even though the scripted there is a message there, truth be told one random act of kindness can make a difference in anybody's life. And if we all did that every day what a different world that we would live.
Excelent movie, parents should watch out for things like these, never blame your partner for things that you chose to do,or not to do. We must understand these conflics can prnetrat the mind andheatt of inocent children growing up. Thanks for posting this movie. A big hug from Argentina.
I recognised Barbara Bel Geddes, by her voice. Didnt see the credits so came to my phone to look. She sure never changed her hairstyle as she got older 😉
@nancysherry9088: So sadly and shockingly, rump will inflict himself on the American public for another 4 years. I am dismayed at the character and lack of discernment of those who support him! 😕
Preparing to jump from the ledge of a skyscraper, Robert Cosick (Richard Basehart), a depressed young man, is spotted by police officer Charlie Dunnigan (Paul Douglas), who attempts to talk him down. Bringing in his dysfunctional parents (Agnes Moorehead, Robert Keith) and girlfriend Virginia (Barbara Bel Geddes) only seems to exacerbate the situation. Meanwhile, the number of onlookers increases as the spectacle unfolds, profoundly affecting some in the crowd.
What a wonderful movie! It’s so sad nowadays Hollywood can’t make good movies anymore due to its’ political correctness! Unless it does self reform and out of politics, I only watch old movies and they are so much better quality of actors and stories and everything else! Wish I was born in that period of time!
I do wish people who upload films or dramas would give a short synopsis of it. SO annoying when you watch a few minutes only to find it’s not to your taste - but I guess after 2 mins the channel owner gets paid anyway, don’t they?
Sorry but far too many adverts. Look elsewhere and watch the actual film and not constant adverts. Why do uploaders not realise we watch these films to escape from the mayhem of today yet they put on the woke adverts every 5/6 minutes. 👎
@stevengrotte2987 That’s alright. I didn’t ask for it but if that’s what you want, ok. Being sensible I just move on and watch the film elsewhere; ones with few ads and, therefore, more enjoyable..
Interesting movie. Worth the time. But. The usual 1950s idiocies. Great set ups and interesting production design, Henry Hathaway direction. Basehart and Douglas are fine, always interesting to see Debra Paget, but I suppose it's typical of the period that the cops are - and perhaps unintentionally so - all idiots, Howard da Silva's chief being the chief culprit. My question - again, it's era adjacent - the cop in the buoy chair being lowered over the edge (1:01:23) - why did they cast this with an actor clearly well into his 40s??? Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense to cast a MUCH younger, more fit and agile man? Or is that the 1950s general stupidity in play? Once again, one has to scan deeply to see a person of color - I clock one cabbie, with no lines. Sigh: The 1950s. Even the so-called smart movies were pretty damn deficient in terms of basic reality testing, but within the terrified studio system I suppose they were doing the best they could. Probably impossible to watch today except for the diehard longtime hopefuls wishing for a return to a world that-never-was - and film students, wondering about the era's deficient politics but enamored with the obvious production skill. Lingering points: general contempt for women, psychiatry, anything that doesn't embrace a White middle of the road sensibility. Notable for Grace Kelly's first (?) film appearance, anxiously glancing out of a cab window, then gamely climbing over car bumpers to get across the street: hearkens to her then-notorious fire escape climb in Rear Window, which terrified the Paramount front office in 1954.

Wonderful Movie with powerful performances from an all star cast. Gripping from beginning to end.

Fabulous movie!! Thank you so much for posting this great, old film!!😊
Incredible movie; Excellent interweaving of peripheral storylines.
What a great movie . Just shows you that family is the key role in your life😊

Great film copy; so many up coming talents in this one that most recognize today.
Second time Richard Basehart in a disturbed mind movie role.
Paul Douglas was a great actor, like all his movies. Sadly he died at 52 years old.
I’m leaving my comment here so when someone likes it, I can watch this masterpiece again.🤩
Happy ending but what a trip...!! ❤
Wow, what a wonderful film chock full of cameos.
What’s it about?
I recognised Barbara Bel Geddes, by her voice. Didnt see the credits so came to my phone to look. She sure never changed her hairstyle as she got older 😉
Terrific story. Recognized actors and all did gr8 convincing portrayals. Happy ending 👍.
No spoilers
By the end of the '50s, Paul Douglas had ruined his health by overindulgence in food and booze: he was dead at age 52.
Spoiler alert you 🤡
Terrific film but ruined by far too many ads. Another version on TH-cam has no ads. It’s wonderful
Use the web browser version. The app is crap unless you plan on renting or buying a film.
Thanks that is the bane whilst watching certain downloaders. Today two long ads every 6 or so minutes is too much!
Then spring for TH-cam premium. It's worth it
Good movie, Great Actors
This is the first movie of Grace Kelly, American actress.
A touching movie, I enjoyed it. Thank you, Amelia.
My palms are sweaty…happens with heights.
😅 yeah, my legs feel weak too😂

People come here to GET AWAY FROM POLITICS!! KEEP YOUR CRAP TO YOURSELF!

@@lisalakin5355: No need to be so angry and vulgar!
...14:40,the wonderful Grace Kelly...
Good movie!

It is surprising that the mother didn't push him over the edge.
Synopsis: A New York Policeman tries to talk a man off a ledge as a crowd gathers below.
13th floor? Back then most buildings didn’t have a 13th floor. Superstition
It was the 15th floor
They could have put a net just below him, next floor down.
This is on a spoiler but,, He must not have jumped cause iv seen him in films made years later..😂..
51:25 Well, It looks like he's going to be the next one on a ledge ready to jump. 😅🤣😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

How about a young Jeffrey Hunter
& Grace Kelly!
I watched this film because of the cast. It was a one-hankie tear-jerker. A happy ending after another 1950s Freudian "blame it on mom" plot."
er.
That is why I do not care preachers !!!!!!!.
Beauty no Botox🎉

Google it--You'll likely learn a lot more than a mere synopsis would provide.
Do they?
Will have to make decisions more efficiently. TH-cam is FULL of phony health and news garbage.
Cinephiles will watch this because of the name director Henry Hathaway.
@@microbe_rz37-rn1dk And for the cast, as well.
YOU GET TO WATCH THE MOVIES FOR FREE, WHAT ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT, IT IS CALLED FREE CHOICE!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Btw, the best time for a bank robbery 😅
This movie does not interest you in the beginning and many would skip it.
Andorra😅
Annoying attention seeker causes a whole lot of trouble.
Could not enjoy the movie

Pay for premium and you won’t have any ads on any video. It is not terribly expensive and provides great value.

IF it "terrified" Paramount front office it wouldn't have been allowed.
As in 'Isabella'? Too many adverts. No thanks.
soon as saw Richard base hart I turned it off
😊
What rubbish....90 min of will he or won"'t he jump!
