So my parents (Indian) have been telling me about these breathing exercises for years because these are the most basic things covered in Yoga. I never really listened to them, thinking what really is yoga gonna do better than running.
But now that a foreigner is telling me the same thing I'm suddenly convinced that this shit does work.

Yoga is not excercise, the word is asana. Asana when done to impress Almighty Creator of All is Yoga. And it's not shit. I am also An INDIAN , believe me it's not shit. Mind your thoughts as they can become your intentions ,your intentions can manifest in your actions, actions done diligently becomes habits, habits becomes destiny, Density can be best of both worlds or worst of both worlds. Music was the reason you got convinced, music is a kind of magic, evil one. Beware. Don't follow musicians and liers blindly, use logic and knowledge. Gain true knowledge.

This actually…. makes so much sense. I have struggled forever with stamina and never realized that it probably is exclusively due to improper breath work…. my legs are almost never tired but I literally run out of breath within a few minutes

Did u fixed that ? If so what worked ?

    • @hannahmayo6582
      @hannahmayo6582 2 ปีที่แล้ว +21

@@8abyboy Actually yes!! After this video I researched more into breathing techniques when running and found a few things that really helped me: 1) Breathing DEEPLY in through the nose instead of the mouth - even though it doesn’t seem like it, you actually get way more quality oxygen through your nose. 2) Having a specific breathing pattern / counting the number of breaths you take. Like for example if you’re doing a slower jog you could breath in for a count of 4 seconds and breath out for a count of 4 seconds. The faster you go, the more you have to adjust the time (e.g. in for 4, out for 2, or in for 2, out for 2, etc). find a rhythm that works best for you!
      3) Engaging your abs/core while you’re running. For some reason this made it easier for me to breath vs when my core wasn’t engaged, as it felt less impact on my body and made it easier to take deep breaths.
I also watched this video specifically if that helps! : th-cam.com/video/L_vZjikr5Ew/w-d-xo.html

I've been just riding my bike at a moderate pace for an hour or so a few times a week and didn't realize how good my cardio was getting. Went back to jiujitsu after a few years off and I'm having no trouble keeping up with much better people just because my cardio is good. Doing 2.5 hour sessions no problem. You don't have to kill yourself for good cardio, just consistently work at it and it comes faster than you would guess.

    Anulom vilom
    Bhastrika pranayaam
    And kapaal bharati
These are the basics of pranayaam start with small counts and then increase it slowly they'll show effect slowly but surely that's how pranayaam works.

I’m a boxer, when I go into a match I can tear up and eat shots for 30 seconds to a minute before I have to draw back until I can find an opportunity to make a difference with even less stamina. Even if I pace myself through a match I run out of stamina. It makes me able to outdo most people in my prime but useless over time.

I'm also a boxer on and off
Same exact shit, I'll bust my ass in training, mitts and bag hard, 2-2.5 miles every day, I had like 5 months before I had a fight lined up so I worked hard.
During that fight I was great the first round, but kept feeling more and more winded, and it's harder because I try not to back off my opponent when I need to breathe for a second so I tried to keep on him.
I won the fight by decision, and I could tell he was tired and a little wobbly throughout the fight, but even about an hour after the fight I was still breathing hard catching my breath, I didn't even get to throw as many strikes as I wanted to lol.
My coach even says he doesn't get it because I train my ass off.
I was kinda wondering if I had anemia or something, but I have no idea. At the time I didn't smoke either and had stopped drinking.

I wouldn't tell you this if I didn't care about helping another person so here you go. You need to do consistent cardio and push yourself and make yourself sweat a lot inorder to build cardio. Try do 1/2 hr a day of different bodyweight exercises that make you breath hard. Like do 30seconds burpees, rest 30 seconds, then 30s squats rest 30s, double leg side to side jumps 30s. So one circuit of that is like 3 minutes. Do 10 circuits. You should be pretty tired by the end of it. Doing this for 1 week u will already see progress and more progress if u do it may weeks

To be honest, you probably can't do much own your own unless you sign a pro contract with a big team. There are tonnes of things involved in increasing stamina like leg workout, running, running form , breathing pattern, proper sleep, diet, rest, and what not. What I believe is one finds their own way of increasing the stamina provided they are passionate and hard working athelete. I have a friend who never went to gym or did any kind of special training. But the guy has brilliant stamina and the reason behind it is he plays basketball too and he is pretty good at it.
