Had the terrific good fortune to visit Chess Studios a few years ago... "on duty" was Willie's grandson---amazingly he brought out the original "bass fiddle" for us to see...and hold!! Still amazed at the music history that instrument must have witnessed!
He was such a cool dude, he let me hold it too and was like I just remember him as my grandfather who got me kicked out of preschool for fighting 🤣🤣 it was cool for the descendent of one of the all time greats to be keeping the spirit alive… he also told us a story about being drank under the table by bb king 🤣🤣
Ele trabalhou com Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Otis Rush, Bo Diddley, Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Koko Taylor, Little Milton, Eddie Boyd, Jimmy Witherspoon, Lowell Fulson, Willie Mabon e Memphis Slim.
Some seem confused about who Willie Dixon really was. He played bass on just about every record produced at Chess Records it seems, including most of the Chuck Berry rock and roll classics. He was also a prolific song writer, with his compositions being recorded by everyone from Chuck Berry, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Rivers to Muddy Waters.
The blues are the roots to the tree of music, and without the blues, being the powerful roots that they are the fruit that the tree bears will not be good. The blues is the blues. It is life every day honesty every day feelings every day the blues are the greatest form of music.
Love This !!!!!!!!! Every Since I Was A Little One... Upon Arriving in Chicago at 10 yrs Old -- First hand lessons from these cats was an amazing experience and a Blessing.. My Times Fly !
1. I Just Want to Make Love to You 0:00 2. Sandy Field 5:30 3. I Got the Blues 11:20 4. Built for Comfort 18:18 5. Seventh Son 6. Jungle Song 7. Peace 8. Wang Dang Doodle
Rory Gallagher played "Seventh son" and "Wand Dang Doodle" during shows but didn't record them. I don't remember he named Willie Dixon among the blues men who influenced him, he payed homages to Bo Diddley but he could have done for Willie Dixon too. We found much things alike in Rory's cover of WDD
Great post and wonderful video. Thank you! I was lucky enough to see him in the 70's. He stood in for BB King. People left the audience when they announced he was the replacement...they missed the show of a lifetime. He arrived in a huge, old, car on the stage...maybe even pink. He rocked the place down. I'm so glad I missed BB for once. It gave me the chance of a lifetime. Thanks for the great music & fun memories. My best, Moppet
Wow,thouWillie!WithJamesCotton on the HotHarmonica!Take me now,Lord,to hear this BlastinBluesBand again, wherever they went!Yes,when my time is spent, and I'm done with worldly fun in the sun,and paying petty rent, this is the music to "heal the sick, raise the dead, make the little girls talk out of their head"!Way to swing&wing it,Willie&Company! The only reason a white boy like me has the humble high honor of playin the blues on the harmonica,,and.singin these songs,is because these National, and world wide Treasures, lived, wrote, played, and sang these, and so many songs like them! How lucky do I be,me& everybody who can still listen to brilliant blues like this stellar stuff?Got to see James Cotton play in a big old barn in the early 70's,in New England,on some College campus, watchin the steam billow from James' harmonica,on that wild winter day,way back when!Lucky me,baby!Lettuce grow Peace plus carrots,"cause like Willie said so wisely,"It don't Make Sense,If We Can't make Peace",Lettuce grow Peace plus carrots,MarkO'Harps!
+Datsik : The Blues (capital B) existed long before BB was born, and he was just a chapter in a much larger book, as great as he was. Willie Dixon is one of the Top Ten most influential Blues/Jazz musicians of all time, as is BB. Widen your vision, Sir.
BB King couldn't unlace Willie Dixon's boots. Get the Willie Dixon Chess box. Play his duet with Koko Taylor, 'Insane Asylum', and crank it. That will cure you of your BB King fixation, and you will know what's what.
Saw Willie in Salt Lake City in 1982 with the Chicago All Stars Blues Band. He was using a cane to get around, but he really made that stand-up Bass purr!!!
we saw him the last time he played Chicago@tge Park West---awesome to say the least!!!!
I was fortunate to see Willie Dixon at the Long Beach Blues Festival back in 1983. To me he’s right up there with Robert Johnson.
He's known as the poet laureate of the blues ...!
Without Willie, there would not be a Led Zeppelin. His writing is legendary
No Rolling Stones also perhaps!
Butch Dixon on piano, Clifton James on drums and Mike Morrison on bass.
I play bass and revere Willie Dixon. His bass line of Johnny B Goode is amazing. Always fit in.

His son was playing the electric bass Lil' Willie on harp, so many GODS onstage at once!

You do know which one is Willie Dixon, right? I think the title says it all. He is the blues.
Muito obrigado por postar esse grande show!!!
Good music
Not sure what a Blues man LOOKS LIKE! Its the MUSIC and the VOICE that make the BLUES. Not their appearance!!!!!
The big boss
14:10 Carey Bell just bringin' it like a boss!
😢
Alozaina.
Carrie Bell... on harp.
Jhon watkins on guitar
Cuba.
Best version of "I just wanna make love to you" or ?
A blues diety
John lee Hoover
He looks like a politician not a blues man. Appearance matters in the world of BLUES. THE SECOND GUY IS A TRUE BLUES MAN.
BBking is the blues... Sorry for that but its true... ;)
Datsik oh look you have an opinion. great.
