I used to buy superline hooks and bend them out for this very reason but when you bend the hook it will remove the temper at the bend and it would either straighten out or break. Owner has finally raised the bar! Great video too.
Hope they gave you a bonus or some thing haha, because they are sold out every where and on back order until June 21st on TW! I got a hold of 1 pack of 5/0`s so going to see how they do for me.
I’m glad they came out with these. I typically use regular offset worm hooks sight fishing simply because the point is further out from the eye than an EWG is. The new Haymaker solves this and allows for a larger bodied bait. Definitely a very useful hook that’ll end up replacing most EWGs in my terminal boxes.
I'm so glad Ryugi came up with that hook design. It fixed just about all of the EWG problems with that design, glad to see Owner also using it, their stuff is at the top of the market.
Downside- Looks like this hook is gonna cause more damage to the bass. Not just the mouth, but there could be more hooks in gills. And you could see in the video a few got hooked in the eye area. The smaller bass will be losing eyes, potentially.
Glad they finally listened to a fisherman instead of a "Designer"!! I've been able to bend up about 40% of my widegaps, but that gets expensive!! Hope they come out soon.
I've caught ALOT of fish on EWG hooks over the last 20 years.I even prefer them flipping, never had a problem hooking fish, but I've had many problems with straight shank. To each their own,but I don't see how you can texspose the hook with a strait bait
I always would bend my ewg hooks to the right or left to negate that issue and always thought someone should make a hook like this. Definitely gonna buy these from here on out instead
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 thanks, I figured that was the case. It will be nice not having to bend hooks out before using them. Surprised someone didn’t come out with this type of bend before now.
Owner Offset Shank Wide Gap Worm Hook is the same concept, isn't it? It's been my go to for years. Glad they came out with this hook to add to their lineup.
Great scoop .... now I can stop purchasing the Hayabasa EWG .. very similar offset but not quite as wide above straight line w/ tie ... been using Haya for several yrs ... the light wire 3,4 and 5 for flukes & swimbait to get em to latch on .. it did better .... However now" ... will be an addition along w/ my Cover Shot Owner Hooks for finesse worming ..... love them ..... Capt. Kirk ....... everyone should watch this video ... see you on Rayburn .. not Fork ...LOL
I've seen several where they've opened up the bite and got the point up above the eye- but they're not tipped up like that. And it looks like the part with the point on it is longer- which is something I've always wondered why they didn't do. I mean the more that's stuck up in their face the better off we are- the more slack it takes before it falls out- right? You had me at "Owner" to be honest- I love and use almost nothing else for terminal- but really, even objectively speaking, these are really cool hooks.
for a magnum 3 or 4x hook this is awesome and I will be adding for sure. BUT...thin wire hooks need to keep it flat but have it extend up higher than the eyelet
The extra gape due to the angle of the point is helping but the offset will be doing most of the heavy lifting hooking the fish sooner (hence deeper/further back),i offset every single hook i use on lures and bait for lots of different species in salt water. Hope this hook is salt water friendly ! Would love to use them if it is.
Was thinking about a previous video you had done mentioning the development on this hook awhile back yesterday. Well done. Like the design and concept.
Imagine a 2/0 or 3/0 for a Carolina rig.. it'd be lights out!!!!!!! Especially on those really long hook sets... I need about 87 packs of those from 2/0-6/0
@@mobass8354 tackle wharehouse has them. I think Todd recorded this vidoleo a while back because I bought them around March 10th before a tournament because I hate wide gap hooks. These are anything but.
Dose that wide'r bend give the fish more leverage to come off ? The hook looks like it would be better for hook sets ! But with that bigger bend * ya better not give the fish any slack * or it can come off easily? What's your thoughts?
People always use the example of the gap on a ewg but I've caught hundreds of bass on them and never had a problem, I also bend the point up just a touch. Proofs in the pudding not the theory!
Hopes you will take this too heart. Love you’re content; big fan of anything Owner, shakey heads, flashy’s, beast etc. can’t wait to try out the new uppercut. Now into my real criticism;you’re video’s here lately have been suffering from super poor lighting. I have my brightness turned up too max. It’s average at best. Not sure if anyone else feels the same way, but for me had to be honest. Just want you to be producing best content you can. Congratulations on placing 4th.
Welcome to hog city! Where were you guy's at, Fork? Thanks for turning me on to Owner hooks a while back, my hook up ratio went way up. I'll definitely try these hooks if Bidenflation doesn't make me go broke first.
That hook is a huge improvement to other ewg hooks! You guys did good! That being said..imo it could be better still and you almost got me but the line tie has to be a little different for me to ever go back to an ewg hook. I'm not bashing. This is awesome but still needs a tad of work imo. I'm happy to explain but not sure I can on a TH-cam comment.
Great info and nice catch. Where them chickamauga picks at 🤔 think you need do post review of your picks. why pick them and why some was right and wrong picks. Got 30 plus days before next elite tournament, give some extra views. Maybe you should get the crew talk post pick/recap on your channel. More content, more views, moe money!
These vids are bad for my addiction I just ordered an embarassing amount of these haymaker hooks.. Lol Im a tackle junky and todd its your fault i relapsed. haha You called it the uppercut hook and that sounds so much better than haymaker.
Great to see Little T
Wow that’s deadly!
Getting. Some. 👍👍
Gonna be excellent for creature baits!
For everything
IMPRESSIVE
Awesome content. Hard to get this hook, on back order everywhere.
Love me some Owner Hooks!
💯
I’ve been talking about this to all my fishing buddies for years. I’m talking about 15 years or more.

I normally bend my wide gaps out like those. This saves me time and keeps the integrity of the metal
An old man taught me to bend wide gap hooks like that when I was a kid. I've been doing it since. It works 1000%!
2nd video, and haven’t seen you actually Tx rig a bait with that hook. How does your worm stay straight with the point like that?
Every single bait was Tx rigged
I always would bend my ewg hooks to the right or left to negate that issue and always thought someone should make a hook like this. Definitely gonna buy these from here on out instead
My uncle got me started bending hooks like this 25-30 year's ago !! It definitely works !!
Been bending mine out a little for years... great design!!!
Was this hook renamed Haymaker?
Yes I just recorded it awhile ago but had to wait to release it because they didn’t have enough yet.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 thanks, I figured that was the case. It will be nice not having to bend hooks out before using them. Surprised someone didn’t come out with this type of bend before now.
Pure genius
Are you going to start bending your Pad Perch hooks up?
😂😂😂 still no
I will listen. And will buy. If ya say so. That lews xd rod is the shiznizzel I love honest reviews of products
I have been waiting on this video
First EWG hook I’ve seen that I would probably use in quite a while. Good stuff.

I've been taking standard EWG hooks and bending them up for years because of this. Should be an awesome product.
How wide is the gap compared to the Owner Wide Gap Plus? This could be my new tube flipping hook.
Can't wait to get my hands on some of those, they definitely knocked it out the park with those, nice job owner, and great video Todd, thanks for sharing
Awesome looking hook! That has to be the best name ever for a hook!
How’s it perform as far as being weedless? With that hook bent out it seems like it would be hard to texipose the plastic.
Just fine
I almost grabbed a couple last TW order. Gonna have to for the next one.

Nice, Can't wait to get me some!!!

Just released

Just became available

I've turned my barb out for years. Turn it away from line tie slightly.. you'll be amazed. I'd do it on my jigs if I could
Awesome video Todd. Hook looks nasty! Were y’all able to texpose it, or leave it buried in the bug?
Great hook but I’m upset that Owner doesn’t give you 5 hooks anymore. The 4/0 Haymakers only come with 4 hooks.
Might be the material costs
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I’m pretty sure. Just like everything else these days
I have always thought this with EWG hooks and hated them for that reason. Will be trying these out asap.
Right on brother! I’ll be getting some off those.
I ordered 4 packs of them 2 weeks ago. It's one of the best hooks I've ever used. And I HATE wide gap hooks.
Where did you get em?

Thanks
Ive said that about the old style hook forever!
Had a rep show me this at the worlds largest fishing Fair! Thing is amazing can’t wait to get my hands on some 🔥
I’ve been extremely impressed with the owner wide gap jungle. Guess I gotta try bad boy too!
I'll give it a try and it makes sense. Having said that I really don't have a problem loosing fish on plastics
do u see this as a replacement for a snelled flipping hook?
Thank you Buddy, I never thought about that, we caught 291 bass at Triple D Ranch in Alabama this past weekend, take care Todd

Thanks.....just spent $53 at tw on the last 4o and 5o they had 😂 curious to see how they work draggin..
i just ordered 4 packs from TWH
Thought Owner named it the Haymaker??
They did but at the time when we first used them they had a different name. They had to change it, I have haymaker on the thumbnail

What lake is that?
Are you going to bend the hooks up on a pad perch now?
Just bend your ewg hook out a bit, thats it, no need to wait for some of these, its no big deal
Just make sure that when you bend it out you don’t make it weak, which is impossible once you bend it. So kinda a big deal
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 never broke one yet
Didn’t say you would but once you bent it, it got weaker
Been using owner hooks for everything for almost 30 years. The hook point to line tie is why.
Saw it last week
harder to get your plastic straight ????
Not at all, it’s not a crazy difference just enough to make sense
Looked like he bent one out on that one fish 🤔
