- Out on the Thames Estuary are a number of war defence stations from decades and centuries past. The 1840s Grain Battery Tower (defence from the French), the Navy and Army sea forts aka Maunsell Forts, built for World War 2 defence from the enemy
On the cliffs at Warden Bay were a number of pill boxes. The cliffs have eroded in the decades since the War, and collapsed onto the beach and into the sea.
The eroded cliffs have created a muddy sinking beach, but can we reach the pill boxes?
What a great place you took us too Thanks for showing us these historic buildings.. Hope the docs survived 🤔✌️🥾
Cheers 😊. They survived this one, but not their next appearance 😬. Thanks for watching 👍
@@matparks08 I’ll watch the rest when I get home..oh no docs slayer 😳
brilliant .
Cheers 😊
If you liked this you’d like the history of Spurn Point. It has lots of erosion, pill boxes and such disappearing into the sea.
Good call. I visited there over 20 years ago with my Uncle. We had to take helmets to walk on a particular stretch of beach due to the amount of low flying seagulls! I'll give it some thought for a future visit 😊 thanks
i have seen some pill boxes before in the middle of the sea cant remember the place though think it was up north , also i have seen something similar to this at 0:25 in cleethorpes it was a sight to see i think they are still there i will have to check it out and tell you :) Also great video per usual , thanks again. And when you went inside the pill box it reminded me of a titanic scene. JACK!!! JACK!!! 🤣
Ha, I often try to recreate Titanic scenes 😆. Interesting, though, about seeing the same at Cleethorpes. Thanks for watching
how long did it take to get those boots cleaned 😂 Messy filming today for you. You did well 👍🏻
A long time 😅. They're clean now but probably won't be again over next couple of days. Cheers 😊
Please invest in some decent microphones 🙏😂
I don't often use them due to the nature of what I'm doing on the videos...often crawling through mud, water, etc...which is why I voice over as much as I can. You're not the first to say it, though, so I'll give it some thought for future ones. ..😊
