  • In this video I'll demonstrate Brian Corbin's Traditional and Focus barrels on a Selmer Paris Présence EVO b-flat clarinet.
All of the barrels (and the clarinet!) featured in this video are sold at cleverclarinetist.com.
    Barrels tested:
Selmer Présence stock barrel (65.5 mm)
Corbin Traditional in Synthetic (65 mm)
Corbin Traditional in Grenadilla (65 mm)
Corbin Traditional in Synthetic (66 mm)
Corbin Traditional in Grenadilla (66 mm)
Corbin Focus in Synthetic (65 mm)
Corbin Focus in Grenadilla (65 mm)
    Shop these barrels at www.cleverclarinetist.com/bar...
If you would like to set up a trial, please email me at larkin@cleverclarinetist.com
Benefits of the traditional barrel (65 mm):
    1. Improvement of tone quality overall
    2. Improvement of articulation overall
    3. Improvement of intonation overall
The 66 mm traditional barrel was too long for this clarinet and me, which is apparent in the articulation issues seen/heard in this video (but that might not be the case for you!).
Benefits of the focus barrel (65 mm):
    1. Improvement of tone quality overall
    2. Improvement of articulation overall including extremely fast articulation
    3. Improvement of intonation overall

I am looking for a cutout barrel for my e flat clarinet. Do you ever do comparison tests for them? I am wondering about the bakun cutout barrels and honestly don't know what else to try. The process seems daunting to me.

Thanks for the suggestion! I have a complete kit of Backun barrels, and I use a cocobolo Backun barrel for my Selmer Paris Recital e-flat clarinet. I’ll make a video soon.

Hello! It's the opening of Brahms' Sonata No. 2 Op. 120 in E-flat major. Yes, I prefer the wood barrel (you can see the details in the description of the video).
