  • Totally didn't expect to run into some TARPON this trip! Middle of winter, extra cold water temps, what an awesome surprise! However, I had zero experience fighting/catching these powerful beasts, especially from a kayak. So i'm pretty sure you guys can guess what happened, lol. Click on the video and check it out. I also run into some Jacks and Reds! Thanks everyone!

    Nice Tarpon hookups. They are a hard fish to land.

    I’m so glad there’s a fisherman in Jacksonville like me me and my grandad always pass by it going to Nassau sounds it used to be amazing there but he would always say we would turn to mutants if we caught fish and ate them near there

    Try to what’s called bow to him whenever he jumps, i.e., drop your rod tip towards him and he’s less likely to spit the hook. I use to fish for them in the ocean, same place we fished for kings. Off of Jax beach and Ponte Vedra. I enjoy your channel. Giddyup brother!😊

  • @TheRealRoman11
    @TheRealRoman11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! I always drive by this and wonder what’s in these waters. At first I thought this was a big lady fish but upon closer inspection, it is a Tarpon! That’s crazy! Do you ever use an anchor with your kayak? Or do you just pedal and use your rudder to stay in place?

    • @VISUAL-LY
      @VISUAL-LY  ปีที่แล้ว

      So crazy! I couldn’t believe it myself at first. I think they’re only there certain time of year. But to answer your question, I don’t use an anchor anymore. I like to stay in place like you said or keep moving. If I find a good spot with lots of fish, I’ll either park along the shore line or I’ll use an anchor pin that’ll keep me in place in 3ft or less of water. Keep it simple and less stuff to bring🙌

    • @TheRealRoman11
      @TheRealRoman11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @VISUAL-LY
      @VISUAL-LY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No place will guarantee you catch a red, it’s pretty tough. I would just take a drive down heckscher drive going towards the ocean and fish any of those spots along the road. Get yourself some live mud minnows or finger mullet and toss it out near some oysters and just wait! Good luck bro!
