Fun fact. This is actually a first-recording demo version Elisa sent to Tarantino before movie post-production. Tarantino liked it so much that he didn't want any other versions and included it in the movie as it was.
good shit too this is perfection/
Elisa wrote this song for a childhood friend of hers who died of leukemia. It's both beautiful and incredibly sad.
How did you hear about that? I love this song. That is terribly sad. Beautiful song.
Fuck me.
That's sad and makes the lyrics way more haunting.
@@madisonc9923 it's written here: it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ancora_qui_(Elisa)
but you will not find the english version of this page
Dude that makes it like a thousand times more sad... damn. Thanks for making me feel something for a second though.
It's fucking beautiful, my heart hurts deeply after hearing this
11 years have passed, have you been in Italy? ;-)
As a Spanish speaker was able to understand 40% of it without the lyrics. It's really interesting how languages can sound so similar at times.
It has been a year since I lost my father to cancer. This is the song puts tears to my eyes as soon as it starts.
my condolences
I lost my father to cancer a few years back, you are not alone
I lost my grandfather to cancer in 2018 although he wasn’t my biological grandfather I still looked at him as my Father as my Dad was in prison for the first 7 years of my life. Even after my Dad got out my Pop was still my Father in my eyes all the way until he passed. It’s 2023 and I’m still not over it and I listen to this song without knowing the English translation and I break down in tears, then I read the lyrics and bawl my eyes out because I finally understand why.. I’m sorry if this seemed meaningless or confusing it’s just apart of the healing process..
Much love to all healing from any pain in this cruel world and I am so sorry for anything you’ve been through let Jesus Christ guide you and show you the love you deserve
Damn right Django brought me here!
Same
Django brought me here too! I love this song!
Hell yeah ma'am
Movie is so powerful.
me too, I needed to know and now that I understand the words and the story behind it....I love it more🥺😢🥰
The great musical genius Ennio Morricone left our world today. It is an appropriate day to again embrace this stunning piece of art. Elisa's words are equally as beautiful as Morricone's melody. The song has always made me cry, but today the tears won't cease. RIP great maestro, you will never be forgotten.
😥 Requiescat In Pace 👼
This song made me realise I speak an awesome language...thank you Italy! Grazie Italia!
It's not even just a song it's a completely original atmosphere. Like it even has its own scent. Like vintage velvet midnight or some shit. loveit
Smells like a field lilacs to me
Does have some of that stank to it but maybe, with a hit of lime
I've learned to sing this song as an English speaker and I feel I can appreciate the emotion so much more
I never understood this song. I saw film Django 6 yrs back. And today I searched the word only I knew was Ancora ..
This is awesome song
This should have won an oscar for best original song
To me, what makes this song so powerful is the singer and the words are heard without being drowned out by the accompaniment which is perfect.
this song is so beautiful that it inspired me to learn Italian. :-)
German
Im crying lol
That’s what happened when I heard con partiro (time to say goodbye) for the first time , I bought Rosetta Stone and everything
@@ericajohnson667 It ain't German!
Espanol**
As a Spanish speaking I understood everything she sang.
I remember an holiday in mallorca where me and my friends spoke in italian language to every spanish there. Obviously they eventually answer to us in spanish and the fact was that everyone was able to fully understand the other without efforts… same people
Damn... this song gives me chills.. so beautiful. ..
A rare gem that only Elisa could write with first hand and interpret with the first tear.
In fact, she declared that she simply followed the advice of Maestro Ennio Morricone and "let herself be carried away by her memories" of her. In fact, Elisa thought intensely about her, a very dear childhood friend of hers, who died too prematurely due to of fulminant leukemia.
Unfortunately, only from pain do the best things come.
This because this language was "made" by some of the most important poets ever, Dante (specially) Petrarch, Boccaccio. Before in italy was spoken Latin and Vulgar Latin. Is so melodious because the poets created this language to be melodious for their poetry.
I'm so excited that Ennio Morricone will be composing The Hateful 8! 86 years old & still an amazing composer. This song is beautiful...
And FINALLY won an Oscar in the process.
Italy what a beautiful place and language.. I've never been out of texas but it must be gorgeous I always said if I had a daughter her name would be Italy Marie❤
It'd be amazing!
Elisa deserves more international acknowledgement. She's one of the most eclectic singer-songwriters/musician in the world. The only reason for which she's not more popular is that she's as humble as she's skilled: she doesn't look for success at all costs. Anyway, she's so talented that, just like in this case, sometimes her songs are noticed abroad (Dancing, Rock Your Soul, Labyrinth, Love is requited, Ancora qui). I hope she'll be in the gotha of music, in the future.
In loving memory, for my mother, always thinking of you mum. ❤
for those who don't know she is one of the most successful italian singer, with more than 15 years career.
She usually sings in english, even though she's italian.
I love Elisa especially when she sings live.. i really want everyone to go and check out some live performances, she is unbelievable!
I am proud to be italian even if we are in a very bad situation at the moment.. we still have great minds, artists and people that are struggling to express themselves!
VIVA LA BELLA ITALIA
I've learned every sound and word in this song. I want it played at my funeral. Played one last time..just. for. me
I hate to love that song. It give me tears every single time i listen to it.
They choose the right song. I love this and I'm going to love this song til I die.
This was so beautifully sad in the movie, thinking of the horrid injustice 2 human beings that just wanted to love each other were enduring- had me on the edge of tears. I don't think this emotion/realization would've surged up with out this song.
Italian is the most melodious language of all the world, in my opinion... I hear songs in many languages, but italian is the best... it's full of "poetry" in every single word...
The best gift I have ever been given was this song
just for you to know. The singer, Elisa, she's the same one who sang the heartbreaking song "Dancing" used both in the movie "A time for dancing" and in the show "So you think you can dance".She's amazing. And the combination with Morricone's music is so powerful.
Started learning Italian five days ago. Now I understand this song!
Brava.
Liam Cavanagh...Congrats for your advances !
Must be a simple language if you can understand this in 5 days... If that was an honest statement, than DAMN good job... But 5 days??? Really?😂
@@marcusd2951 there are no easy languages. It's all about love. If you love the language you learn or love what you do, then miracles happen.
@@marcusd2951 it really is that easy, took me about a year for German and even longer for Korean. Italian however only took a week before I was able to understand what was being said
my father passed away nearly two months ago .. since then everything has changed in a bad way and this song describes what I'm feeling now .. try to be good to your parents and love them unconditionally only they deserve it.
You will be alright in time, I wish you the best
@@rayantonioking RIP
I don't know a word of Italian and yet I'm singing along , participating in something beautiful.
Close ur eyes.... Just Listen.....
:)
And read
I've just come back to listen to this song after a few years - and wow, it's still incredible.
the day I decided to learn Italian because I'm exchanging to Italy etc etc I happened to watch django ;; good god this song is so beautiful I can't handle it 😂 perfetto lol go Italians :)
Notice how the guitar doesn't overwhelm Elisa's beautiful voice...its a perfect combination and it makes me cry ..then smile because I know what it leads to..❤❤
Rest in peace Ennio Morricone, you will be missed. 🙏🏽
You can hear this song and hear it 100000 times more and still not enough.
I like the sharp transitions to and from falsetto. It's very moving
2:43 - 2:45 My favorite part. What a beautiful voice :')
perso in mezzo al blu.
She's such a great songwriter,
I love this beautiful sadness.
Beauty by pureness. No virtuous overkill. Just music.
Just gotta say, normally i listen to DnB, Dubstep, Techno etc. But these are the songs people gotta appreciate.. This song is amazing, no doubt about it.
Since I watched it, I'm triying to think how it could be possible make this film with a better soundtrack, but I can't. God, every song and every theme is almost perfect and fix to its situation. And this one is such a pretty song.
Totally right, Ennio Morricone deserves an Oscar. He should have won also for Once Upon a Time in Amerca, but because a technical error he was even not nominated. I hope that this time the Academy takes a correct decision. I am also looking forward to Morricone's score for Giuseppe Tornatore's The Best Offer.
The melody is beautiful and the singer has such a sweet and soft voice! Quentin Tarantino always chooses the best songs for his movies...
Ancora qui
Ancora tu
Ora però
Io so chi sei
Chi sempre sarai
E quando mi vedrai
Ricorderai
Ancora qui
Ancora tu
E spero mi perdonerai
Tu con gli stessi occhi
Sembri ritornare a chiedermi di me
Di come si sta
E qui dall'altra parte come va
L'erba verde, l'aria calda
Sui miei piedi e sopra I fiori
Si alza un vento tra I colori
Sembri quasi tu
Anche il cielo cambia nome
Così bianco quel cotone
Che veloce che si muove
Perso in mezzo al blu
È un qualcosa in te
È quel che tornerà
Com'era già
Ancora qui
Ancora tu
Sembri ritornare a chiedermi di me
Di come si sta
E in questo strano mondo come va
Ritornerai e ritornerò
Ricorderai, ricorderò
Ritornerai, ritornerò
Ricorderò
Italian must be the most beautiful language in the world, gorgeous song...
This is such a haunting song. The lyrics seem strange at first but omg they're some of the most beautiful I've heard. I think it's partly because I know Spanish so I understand the Italian.
This unbeatable artist does not make us swallow the discomfort of being italian indeed makes us proud.
+La sua figura Davide the discomfort is only yours!
The important thing is to be convinced.Lucky you

@@sheruffa6032 ...It's not only his !
This is the greatest tribute to Italian cinema of Tarantino: generally we hear soundtracks without understanding the text ... this time the Americans :)
as i look at you now . broomhilda
i can see all the passions that you inspire are completely justified .
One of my most favorite lines on the entire movie❤
before i looked at this translate it one i cried when i heard it first .,such a beautiful voice .,
Heartbreakingly beautiful..
Its a masterpiece! it embodies the essence of musc. The translation of human emotions into sound.Very powerfull song.
Moreiccone has created such beautiful scores over the years I’m glad people are noticing
You must promise me, Fraulein. Our friend has a flare for the dramatic ;)
I love Tarantino's films because they have more than one language. Not all, but good grip of them do. And in all honesty I love the German language. It is beautiful. But this Italian song makes you hear the beauty in that language as well.
Very true, beautiful lady.
Hm I also recently realized I love the German language! It's gorgeous and straight to the point :)
Awesome!!
Still here 11/01/20
BOOOOOOOM!! Grande Maestro magnifica Elisa
Absolutely beautiful voice!
I guess the feeling is universal.
questa canzone è veramente bella ❤
quetsa canzone non è bella......... è semplicemente magnifica... è diventata una droga.....
This is what I call soul music ♥
THIS SONG MAKES ME WANT TO FALL IN LOVE AGAIN. ❤❤
Rest in Peace Ennio Morricone
This is such a beautiful song. It touches your heart and soul deeply. It definitely made my top ten list of my favorite songs ever. Appreciate the translation as well. Thank you.
Beautiful song, great voice and a really good translation. It deserves to win the Academy Awards.
love it..
very emotional
omg, i self taught myself to sing this song.... its so pretty and sad at the same time.
That's so AWESOME. Very encouraging. Grazie🌹
R.I.P. Mr. Morricone
NO WAY! italian is way more beautiful! its so smooth and fluid~
New.. but straight outta one of Morricones Spaghetti westerns from the 60's! He's still got it!
Beautiful song.
There are a lot of song in the radio, too much production but without feelling, this song with just a guitar (or more instruments if you can hear it) and a beautiful voice, plus is in Italian language, is incredible how people can go directly to the heart.
Enjoy it.
Feels like somebody has met their soul❤
the first ennio morricone´s song i listen after a long time, he is still the best
So true the best movie composer of all times. I wish more of his songs would have lyrics to accompany them like this and Nella Fantasia (originally Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission).
Song will be played at my funeral.
The way to man's heart is through his ears. What a beautiful voice!
Amongst other things. I love when my girl sings but i like it much better when she throws down in the kitchen plies me with copious amounts of alcohol taps me out with that good and rubs me as i fall asleep. Singings good too tho. For sure brother.
From italian Wikipedia:
"Elisa said that Morricone has suggested her to take inspiration from memories, and so, she wrote lyrics thinking of a childhood friend died because of leukemia."
How do you not like this?
try and listen to Elisa's albums "Lotus" and "Then comes the sun" or her debut single "Labyrinth"...she's thoroughly talented
Elisaaaaaa..she's amazing voice.. one of the best singer in Italy!
Now that's a very romantic song. Well done to ever had made such a beautiful song. It reminds me of my wife. What we have is so beautiful
WOW this song her voice the lyrics...I just want to say thank you Ellisa thank you for this song.
Nino Rota..another great Italian composer that’s no longer with us..does anyone know his greatest masterpiece he wrote for an all time masterclass Movie.
