I’m just on the fence about what to buy because I live in Canada so I don’t want to have to order the TOTS figure and then order the accessory pack from TOTS because of how much the duties will cost whereas if I buy the sideshow it wouldn’t be as much. Also I find the way the eyes look on the TOTs a bit goofy and the body is incredibly cheaper. But the sideshow head sculpt is well… questionable. Honestly though I really can’t wait for the Kills figure and the Halloween 2 figure because they look amazing.
Minus the hairline..... this is for me the better myers 78 retail by far. Hairline can be fixed easily, doesn't bother me too much personally. But everything else is on the money! I know you have advised people who're on facebook who say that the sideshow is the better one, are wrong (Statement is not true). I think is a bit ignorant and not what I expect from your channel (Which I love) I do feel it is biased. The myers tots in this video is custom, not retail. If you put a retail TOTS myers with this one, it will be much more obvious about the more issues with it, and how it's not day and night winner. Tots has a good sculpt, but the paint application is terrible, the eyes are horrendous, sleeves are too short, body is terrible, knife isn't great and the accessories are extremely limited. Where the sideshow does have the hairline, can see the issue if you don't like the black shadow around the eyes. But the eyes look good for me (Helps add that shadow/ darkness if you don't want to custom - some want factory untouched figures), paint application on the white is better. Overalls long sleeves, great hands, double jointed, great accessories....... to say these people are wrong? I don't think so. Even with the score of 8, it's too close (which it is). I do appreciate some might prefer the one head sculpt overall. Just talking about the figure overall (Combined) To say you prefer one over the other is fine and very welcome, but to tell peoples opinions are wrong, is not very cool. Especially when there isn't a clear overall winner by miles, just is not the case. Don't get me wrong, I love my TOTs line and they're improving each fault going forward. Kills could be the best myers retail yet (look and fixes). Lets face it, it's a great time to be a Halloween fan and collect figures. For me, sideshow to taker center spot with all my 1/6 horror figures and the TOTs to remain all together in the complete line. Appreciate your hard work and positive work on this community, it's just one point I feel is not completely true :)
I have both figures and totally agree with you. It’s a shame that this review feels totally biased. I usually enjoy this channel but I don’t enjoy opinionated bullying when it comes to which figure is “better”. Both have their pros and cons. And of course the modified head sculpt on the TOTS figure is going to look much better than the poorly painted sculpt I received. One thing I really appreciate about the Sideshow figure is that the hand didn’t snap off at the wrist when changing to the knife gripping hand - or attempting to. Not all of us are into modifying - repairing - our figures.
Well said! It's a good time to be a Halloween fan when we have different companies stepping up to the plate to give us Michael Myers. As for me, I try to collect all Michael Myers that's within my reach.
@@lobstertail7568 have to agree there completely. Very disappointing indeed. Its a shame its not Facebook as I'd share a picture which shows you step by step. But if you was to see it.... Really easy. Anyway.... Buy some super sculpey firm gray premium sculpting polymer clay. Add a tiny bit either side where receding. Appears you sculpt some hair lines (weaves / faint similar lines throughout the tiny bit to help blend in). Then just paint it. Person used two paints.... Citadel technical mordant earth and model Air 71.080 rust. Mix both to get a similar look. Can paint over the whole hair, add dry brushing on top (probably TH-cam for help here). But the finish screenshot looks amazing and the figure stunning. Fully perfect and the best part, you realise how little was actually needed. Also eyes were left and in the correct cabinet lighting (with his collection), it works perfectly. Collectibles always look better within housing, its own lighting anyway.
I agree 100% Dean about the TOTS still being the best. I received mine Friday and I’m absolutely in love. The price is great, even if you don’t get the accessories but even after you buy the accessories it’s still cheaper than the Sideshow. If anyone is still looking for the TOTS version, BBTS still has him in stock for $119.99 with $4.00 shipping. You honestly can’t go wrong with the TOTS, call me a fan boy but I’m pleased! Put the tots on the sideshow and everything is great!! Literally as replica to the 1978 movie as you can get from buying mainstream figures. I put a fergo knife On mine n now it’s complete.
Other than the hairline, he looks damn decent. I think i will be picking this up. I might consider picking ip an after market headsculpt, and possibly a metal knife.
This isn't a bad Michael Myers figure to be honest. The mask and hair have been sculpted quite nicely. The boiler suit looks good, even though the collar is a bit on the short side. However, the body itself is too muscular. The hands have some nice vein work. I like the boots as well, even though they aren't necessarily screen accurate. The figure comes with a pretty good amount of accessories. However, the receding hair line ends up ruining the head sculpt. As with any figure or statue, the head sculpt is the most important aspect. It can either make or break the overall quality of a figure or statue. Given how long Sideshow Collectibles have been producing 1/6th scale figures, I was very surprised that they managed to mess up the hair the way that they did. For casual Halloween fans, this figure will fit the bill nicely. However, for long time fans, the head sculpt ends up being a bit of a deal breaker. Otherwise, thanks as always Dean for another enjoyable and informative review. I greatly appreciate the continued hard work. Keep it up!
I think the SS Myers looks more accurate even with the hairline and it's much more detailed, hands, etc. But, it's $100 more. I don't like the width of the TOTS mask. The hair is just ok and has a seam line running across it. Your jungle boots on the left are far superior, but that just like, my opinion man
Agreed! The TOTS headsculpt is a tad too big. It looks like a kid dressing up as Myers with an adult mask 🤣. I have the Sideshow, and I'm not a "casual fan". The hairline doesn't bother me. The sculpt of the mask is perfect. The TOTS sculpt has a ridiculous looking chin on it too, and way overpriced for what it is. The Sideshow is obviously a little more pricey, but that's because it's quality.
The two problems on the figure that can be customized is removing the buttons on suit and adding a strip of Velcro. And the hairline can be erased adding some sculpt and repaint. Not that we as collectors should have to go through all that but it is what it is with SS. I mean look what they did with both the unremovable hat and mask of Freddy/Jason.
Wild coming back to this review and seeing people insist this one is better I think it was just recency bias, because both then and now, the Sideshow looks pretty goofy. Weird proportions, undersized overall, the hairline on the sculpt, the cheap paint-saving measures, and for nearly double the price of the more-accurate TOTS. The coveralls on the Sideshow are made of a better material and have the accurate pocket flap, but the actual pattern of the TOTS ones is far more accurate in how they fit Imo, you pay twice as much just for some accessories that aren’t at all necessary. Kinda reminds me of the add-ons for Hot Toys figures that are as much as the figure itself, only at least Hot Toys (and TOTS) don’t make you pay double what the base figure is worth outright for the accessories. Just get the TOTS, a Worldbox hand set, and a COO MODEL body, and you’ll have a complete modded package that’s STILL way under the price tag of the stock Sideshow. Hell, throw in some better boots and a Fergo knife, and it’ll probably just make you barely break even with the price of the stock Sideshow

I have both and I like both. They both have their pros and cons. My biggest issue with sideshow is not only the hairline, but that the figure was delayed two or three times…..they couldn’t fixed it. I just laughed that so many people at sideshow saw this figure and didn’t point that hairline out. Btw, my glasses were also broken, but my tombstone was also damaged. They were both replaced.
Absolutely agree with all your points. Its funny how so mamny people perceive the SS better than TOTS. Its not that its a bad figure at all, there's a lot of accessories and its very well made, but its an idelized version, like out of an ilustration instead of the 78 movie, whilst the TOTS version, as barebones as it is, its like out of movie frame.
I love this review. My only gripe is that you didn’t mention how clowny the TOTS boots look. And that SS did a way better job at the detail in the hands. I own both figures and definitely, I can’t ignore the hairline in the SS. Thanks for your review.
Looking at the Sideshow & Tot's head sculpt on the turntable, the Sideshow sculpt, from chin to forehead as a far great slope going on, compared to the Tot's sculpt. Which is more accurate?
I'd agree and have seen pictures from the original that points towards the sideshow more. Work hard, but lucky to have all the myers figures and the sideshow one for me, is the better one overall. Certianly more premium feel. His a great figure and also check out the leatherface (sideshow recent release)..... Stunning and probably the best 1/6 retail horror figure I've seen/ have in person. Head sculpts X2, both set of great tailoring clothing, double jointed with great hands. Great accessories. Blown away when I got it in person. Again.... Looks stunning with the correct lighting, very lifelike.

Oddly enough, I saw a glimpse of the flashback scene from Kills and this head sculpt looks dead on for that. I might pick it up at some point just for that reason! 😄
The actual head size is small too,I noticed that in the promo pics by Sideshow,and I'm still noticing it now,it's frustrating that SS dropped the ball on so many things with this figure and they've been making figures for years,TOTS steps up first go and nails it
Today was the day.. i received an email from Sideshow Collectibles. I had joined the wait list to pick up the Deluxe version Myers, and it only went and converted! (Woo-Hoo!) ..funny enough, today was the day i cancelled my pre_order with Sideshow for the Hot Toys Cable (Deadpool 2) figure, as it simply does not look good enough for the money being asked (for those who do not not know, production photo's of Cable were released this week). I still might pick up Cable down the line assuming his price crashes, which i think it might do. Fingers crossed, Myers will ship very soon and i will finally have a Myers in my 1/6th scale horror line up! :D
The head sculpt is very good. I really don't understand the hate for the hairline. Plus, the collar thing. They are not that high. The picture you showed is from an upward looking perspective. The Yonsel collar is way too high. Shoot you Sideshow from the same angle and you'll see. I think the TOTS head sculpt, although nice, is just a tad too big. And the chin is ridiculous.

To be honest I really wasn't a huge fan of Myers but after seeing your videos and tash is putting a figure together. I've now bought the 78 tots figure and the 2018 tots figure I'm blaming you two because you've both made him look 🤬ing awesome..
The coveralls definitely had a square pocket flap. I have always said yunsils coveralls are perfect besides the flap. Nice review though Dean. The tots head is just amazing. Great job going through everything.
the mask on the sideshow minus the hairline is closer to the original shat mask, it looks much closer to a nag 75k mask then the tots mask, the tots mask looks much closer to the phone scene on the movie where it has the most castle stretch of all the scenes but the tots sculpt is way better has a much more shat vibe and even in the image you posted of myers behind the hedge the features on the mask look more like the sideshow. the tots mask looks more like the phone scene and one or 2 other scenes but if you went to buy a high end myers mask today you would be looking at nag 75k or nag 2k mask which both look much closer to the sideshow mask and its not even close. the tots mask looks closer to the tots life size masks that they sell. both nice masks but the sideshow mask is much more shat then the tots, the hairline is however bad on sideshow but still the mask pulls off the shat way more.
I’m guessing they painted the eyelids brown to make it look darker in there. I wish they would have just set the eyes deeper in the mask to get the same look but it makes sense why they did that.
Being a Halloween 🎃 fan like myself to me the look on the figure doesn’t really matter because there’s no way you can be perfect on a 1/6 scale figure but there are both really awesome to own in my opinion
I talked to someone who knows a guy that works for sideshow and I guess the employees wanted to fix the hairline but the bosses said no, they didn’t want to spend more $$ on it.
Why is the sideshow mask sculpted at a 45 degree angle. It’s also smaller and just doesn’t look like a mask a real person could wear. It hit me when you showed both on the spinning display. Look at the pitch of that sideshow sculpt. No wonder it looks better when he’s looking down.

I'd agree and have seen pictures from the original that points towards the sideshow more. Work hard, but lucky to have all the myers figures and the sideshow one for me, is the better one overall. Certianly more premium feel. His a great figure and also check out the leatherface (sideshow recent release)..... Stunning and probably the best 1/6 retail horror figure I've seen/ have in person. Head sculpts X2, both set of great tailoring clothing, double jointed with great hands. Great accessories. Blown away when I got it in person. Again.... Looks stunning with the correct lighting, very lifelike.

yes that hairline is fixable too bad sideshow didn't did it or fixed it themselves and that height comparison of the 3 of them is for me very accurate since Michael is supposed to be a normal dude and jason is supposed to be tall buff and imposing

Nice one Dan, great review. The side show does have the Shatner face bulge n lips, but, the tots sculp and clothing hang is pretty much as I see Mike in the film. Great viewing mate, your just so passionate
Oddly enough, I saw a glimpse of the flashback scene from Kills and this head sculpt looks dead on for that. I might pick it up at some point just for that reason! 😄
The actual head size is small too,I noticed that in the promo pics by Sideshow,and I'm still noticing it now,it's frustrating that SS dropped the ball on so many things with this figure and they've been making figures for years,TOTS steps up first go and nails it

Today was the day.. i received an email from Sideshow Collectibles. I had joined the wait list to pick up the Deluxe version Myers, and it only went and converted! (Woo-Hoo!) ..funny enough, today was the day i cancelled my pre_order with Sideshow for the Hot Toys Cable (Deadpool 2) figure, as it simply does not look good enough for the money being asked (for those who do not not know, production photo's of Cable were released this week). I still might pick up Cable down the line assuming his price crashes, which i think it might do. Fingers crossed, Myers will ship very soon and i will finally have a Myers in my 1/6th scale horror line up! :D
I am so torn. I fell the SS is better made but that mask on TOTS is more accurate. Still not sure which one I will pick up

The head sculpt is very good. I really don't understand the hate for the hairline. Plus, the collar thing. They are not that high. The picture you showed is from an upward looking perspective. The Yonsel collar is way too high. Shoot you Sideshow from the same angle and you'll see.
I think the TOTS head sculpt, although nice, is just a tad too big. And the chin is ridiculous.

To be honest I really wasn't a huge fan of Myers but after seeing your videos and tash is putting a figure together.
I've now bought the 78 tots figure and the 2018 tots figure I'm blaming you two because you've both made him look 🤬ing awesome..

The coveralls definitely had a square pocket flap. I have always said yunsils coveralls are perfect besides the flap. Nice review though Dean. The tots head is just amazing. Great job going through everything.
You are right, my eye always goes to the wrong flap for some reason
I honestly think the original 2004 sideshow Jason part 3 figure looks far more movie accurate than the new one
I do believe TOTS is the superior 1/6th Figure of Myers.
the mask on the sideshow minus the hairline is closer to the original shat mask, it looks much closer to a nag 75k mask then the tots mask, the tots mask looks much closer to the phone scene on the movie where it has the most castle stretch of all the scenes but the tots sculpt is way better has a much more shat vibe and even in the image you posted of myers behind the hedge the features on the mask look more like the sideshow. the tots mask looks more like the phone scene and one or 2 other scenes but if you went to buy a high end myers mask today you would be looking at nag 75k or nag 2k mask which both look much closer to the sideshow mask and its not even close. the tots mask looks closer to the tots life size masks that they sell. both nice masks but the sideshow mask is much more shat then the tots, the hairline is however bad on sideshow but still the mask pulls off the shat way more.

I’m guessing they painted the eyelids brown to make it look darker in there. I wish they would have just set the eyes deeper in the mask to get the same look but it makes sense why they did that.
The head sculp looks like they used the cover of 4 & 5 for reference
Being a Halloween 🎃 fan like myself to me the look on the figure doesn’t really matter because there’s no way you can be perfect on a 1/6 scale figure but there are both really awesome to own in my opinion
I think I'm gonna get both SS and the tots. Take the best of both . And use the tots body to make Bob with the sheet.
The face reminds of the closet scene maybe some sculpty clay would help the hair.

I talked to someone who knows a guy that works for sideshow and I guess the employees wanted to fix the hairline but the bosses said no, they didn’t want to spend more $$ on it.
Why is the sideshow mask sculpted at a 45 degree angle. It’s also smaller and just doesn’t look like a mask a real person could wear. It hit me when you showed both on the spinning display. Look at the pitch of that sideshow sculpt. No wonder it looks better when he’s looking down.

The tots repaint is highly incorrect and it’s wayyy too fat and stretched out. This is just the one review that I disagree with about everything you said lol
Yeah, idc if it's accurate or not. The receding hairline looks better. The hairline on the majority of masks has always been an eyesore for me and SS fixed it imo.

Yes, the mask does; however, no one in their right mind is going to think that skinny generic body or the workmanship of the boiler is better than the sideshow version. I’m not even considering, quality, accessories, or the base all of which are inferior or unavailable with tots.

The Tots mask is better. But Sideshow is better with everything else. The coveralls, the body and hands are better than Tots. You really need both to make the perfect figure.
