This is the combo sports needed. Both sons with so much pressure with great success but no championships like their fathers. But both still proved to be a hall of famer and future hall of famer.
"The American Nightmare" is a very interesting nickname for the son of Dusty Rhodes because back in the 1990's at the height of the Cold War between the USA and Russia, Cody's father Dusty teamed up with Nikita Koloff. Dusty was billed as "The American Dream" and Koloff became "The Russian Nightmare". Initially, they were arch-enemies and later transitioned to tag team partners. They were (arguably) the biggest thing in pro wrestling during that time frame.
I knew I had heard the nightmare name before just couldn't place it.. it was a little before my time but I was born with my momma watching Dusty vs Barry Windham April 30th 1988.. so been a fan since day one I guess you could say 😂
No disrespect intended, but by the 90s the soviet union was dissolved. I know Dustin Rhodes, Codys' brother, used the nickname on occasion through the 90s.
Cody is his Father's son. The speech pattern, the hand movement, the self-confidence. He might actually draw me back to the "sport." :D There will be a biopic on the Von Erics in the next year or so. I would love to see Jr. interview Kenvin Von Eric in the future.
My two favorite things Nascar and Wrestling. Couldn’t ask for anything better. I grew up in Spartanburg SC home Bud Moore , David Pearson and NWA TV tapping every Tuesday night at Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium . My dad took me to a lot wrestling matches and lot of races . So when I think of my childhood and my Dad it racing and wrestling. Awesome show btw have pic of Dale Earnhart Sr in 1984 at Roses and guess who’s in background Dale Jr didn’t realize it till years later when I was adult and was looking through pictures of me as kid .
@@williammitchell4417and that's saying something, Jim not insulting a current wrestler is very rare sight and Cody to be one of the rare current guys that Jim doesn't have a heart attack every time they move a muscle says something about Cody's ability to captivate everyone not just a 2023 crowd but also an oldhead like Jim who usually has heart attacks over every move 90% of the wrestling business does. Like that's rare. If only Cornette saw the rest of them the way he sees Punk, FTR and Cody, I don't think he would be jobless rn. His mind when it comes to the history of the business is fantastic but when he starts trying to insult The Elite or literally anyone who isn't Cody, Punk, FTR or Joe is where he loses everyone like c'mon Jim. It's not NWA in 1983 anymore. Like even Rock n roll express aren't afraid of putting over everyone in the business today. Like Jim should actually sit down and watch a Omega or Bucks match in its entirety without having at least one heart attack because Kenny or Matt and Nick's muscle moved.
Really enjoy that you bring athletes of all sports on your show! Yes, I know "pro" wrestling is entertainment but these men and women are fantastic athletes.
My father and I were huge fans of Dusty. Sadly, I am one of those "luminary" types lol. I havent found wrestling to be watchable in the last decade or more.
I bought his dad's house in 1979 and got the chance to talk to him several times. He was a very nice person. He even gave autographed pictures to the staff of the closing agency at the closing.
Exactly, I can remember seeing Black Jack Mulligan drive by my house a few times to go visit Dusty. You couldn’t mistake him for anybody else. He drove a big black 4 wheel drive pickup truck with a decal at the top of the windshield that simply spelled out (BLACK JACK) @myutubeacct1939
Cody is the man all the time. Suit on smile in hand and the true definition that hard work pays off. One of my favorite from this generation. Austin 3:16 says "what"?
Hell yeah brother, Cody freaking Rhodes! I would say this is gonna be one of the most watched and shared POD Dale has done so far. Dale if you’re seeing this, thank you for this interview and please continue to bring in great guest outside of racing. Let’s go!
Haven't watched the wwf in a few year's. But guess I gotta start watching again hearing Cody talk on dale's show. Guess I have a new favorite seeing as how undertaker and Austin are retired.
how the hell did y’all manage to get cody on the show? i forget dale was a wrestling fan i wonder if he still actively watches at all, i’m sure not regularly considering his schedule
Would never have guessed that I could sit here mesmerized through two of these with a pro wrestler as the guest. Amazingly fascinating stuff. Not all the smart folks in this world are in science and tech. 🙂
Im sure Dale knows, he was just caught in the moment of speech but i still had to clarify something... SNAKES ARE VENOMOUS, NOT POISONOUS.. just so the ones who dont know can say they learned something today.. 🤙🏼
Imagine Cody defending Roman dressed in Yellow 🟡🟡🟡. An dream match the Roman title renatch a bull rope match, followed by a feud with Solo in barbed wire, face Roman in a cage, Elimination chamber Cody, Roman, Jimmy, Jay, Solo, Brock.
Where can we watch this full interview? When he said "I might have to be the bad guy...and I'm okay with that" I literally fell out of my chair laughing. LOLOL. This Carny literally left AEW because he REFUSED to become a "bad guy." Now he wants us to believe he would have been okay being a Heel in WWE? No Chance In Hell.
The look on dales face when he learned that Dusty was a huge Dale Sr fan
Dale loves his dad you can tell. He loves hearing that stuff. He is a great ambassador for nascar and is a great dude loves the fans
"If there was a HALL OF FAME for fathers ,you can bet he would be in that one as well". That line made me tear up a bit, cause I've lost my Daddy too.
Lost my daddy 2 wks ago
The guest for JR that we never know we needed. Awesome stuff.
The more I see of Cody the more I love him.
Never have I ever known I needed something so bad until I've just seen it. My favorite race car driver and current wrestler. Hype.

If watching these two son isn't all American, this is the coolest ever! Good job to the Dale Jr. Team!
My favorite NASCAR Driver and my favorite current WWE Star. Love it🤟❤️
Nice
Everyone knew before Cody left the WWE that he was held back because of the character he was playing. He had to leave to break it and refresh himself
It's what Corny and Dutch always say, "How can we miss you if you don't go away."
And now he's saying go with what the coach says. He's got me lost cause the coach said be stardust.
That shot of the torn pec is probably burned in people's memory.
No

It's uncanny how much he and his brother look *EXACTLY* like their father...Dustin even more so than Cody.

Even Corny hears Dusty in Cody's promos.

Man JR is stoked he’s loving this, awesome stuff man.
Didn’t know this was the crossover I needed.
Not a wrestling fan at all, never have been but this was a good, interesting episode! JR is so excited to talk to Cody.

Was that in the Tampa Fl. area? Just curious because in the 80s he had a home near my neighborhood in the North Tampa area.

You can tell Dale is a genuine fan

One of you best.!!! Great content.
Hello Dale and Mike and Cody great interview I'm looking forward to seeing the whole interview.
at 0:36 who heard "It's perfect" as Homelander? I don't know why but I did
Never expected Cody to be on the Dale Jr download! This is awesome!
This is soo cool! My two favorite things ever growing up nascar and wwe it's super cool how into it dale is as well
Dales cohost clearly never seen Sid Vicious obliterate his leg off the second rope
I was thinking the same but maybe they meant exclusively wwe/wwf moments
Next wrestling person I wanna see Dale Jr interview next is The Undertaker!!!!.
That would be awesome 😮

The fact he mentioned Homelander👏🏽👏🏽 I knew I wasn't trippin

Well on Peacock there's a Cody Rhodes documentary that was released recently.
Cody , nice Dale , wasn’t expecting this
We always had mad love for Cody, we hated the way wwe booked him the first time (Randy Orton and stardust)
Great personality to have as a guest. Add a couple like this here and there.
Loving these episodes
Same
Dale should get undertaker on his podcast
That would be something
My two worlds colliding and I love it!
I think the pec injury is a work too
Glad to see Cody back “where he belongs” but I do miss him in AEW since I watch that more than WWE
Adrenaline,
In my soul,
Dale Jr,
Cody Rhodes

What sucks is most wont see his documentary.
This crossover is so American
He better be the guy to beat Roman.
If it isn't cody, it's Dwayne if you know what I'm cooking 🤨
Cody should've went over at WM this year MASSIVE MISTAKE but if they do it again they better do it right
He would be a perfect homelander
I wanna see Dale Jr & Pat McAfee Tag team in a PPV event as the Podcasters vs the Viners/TikTok-ers (Logan Paul & Jake Paul *or someone else)
From Dashing to American Nightmare

American nightmare with Dale Jr?
He so reminds me of his dad holy cow
How many times can you ask this Poor guy this question
Can we get Jim Ross on this show next
If course we were glad to see Cody back. When he left wwe was giving us stardust we never wanted stardust
Dusty's boy was our guy
Either Dale has got to speak up or production needs to turn him up more on the mix. I can't hardly hear the guy most of the time.
When is The Undertaker coming in?
