Fatal Fury 2, known as Garō Densetsu 2: Aratanaru Tatakai (餓狼伝説２ ～新たなる闘い～, Hungry Wolf Legend 2: The New Battle) in Japan, is a 1992 fighting video game released by SNK for the Neo Geo arcade and home platforms, and later ported to several other home systems. It is the sequel to Fatal Fury: King of Fighters (1991) and the second game in the Fatal Fury franchise. Its updated version, Fatal Fury Special, was released in 1993.
The game introduced Kim Kaphwan, the first Taekwondo and the first Korean character in fighting games, and Mai Shiranui, one of SNK's mascots, their primary sex symbol, and one of the most well-known female video game characters. Both of them went on to become mainstays in both Fatal Fury games as well as The King of Fighters series.

Wish I could go back. My grandfather had bought me a neo geo. I was over the moon. Fatal fury 2 was the very first game I got.
Man memories. Used play this in the arcade when I was on sea side holidays. 😊. 20 years later have this on all consoles and pc 😅. Only regret is I couldn’t afford the neo geo console back then. Terry bogard was the man, my favourite.
I really can't remember another intro to a final boss that would make my skin crawl like this character did

That first fight, particularly the first round, with Big Bear at the very beginning couldn't have been choreographed better, great to watch.
The only man who could beat Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser, and the resurrected spirit of Mars (all from the Fatal Fury animes 😂)

That select and the versus screen are by far my favorites ❤
For me Fatal Fury 2 presents one of the biggest leaps in quality in all aspects compared to its predecessor, with better graphics, animation frames, soundtrack, more fluid gameplay, in addition to promoting the debut of two of the most iconic characters in the SNK, Kim Kaphwan and Mai Shiranui.
And you could say the same exact thing from street fighter to street fighter 2. Snk and capcom had a stranglehold on fighting games during the 90s. I lived through it with home systems being in my teens on 95. Local free play arcades at a place called Texas games.

It wasn't accessible back in the day other than the arcades and if u wanted to play inferior snes or genesis versions.

Why does this look different from the Fatal Fury Special one? I thought they were the same game?
Fatal Fury had other characters and the bosses were playable. This is the game before special.
