MAJOR TO MINOR: 6 Christmas Carols Transposed to a Minor Key! 🎄🎅🏻 🎁

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 20 พ.ย. 2024
- Almost all major-key Christmas songs seem to work well in a minor key. So, I thought I'd do a compilation of a handful of carols where I first sing it in its normal major-key, and then sing it again in minor. Let me know which one stands out to you in the comments! Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

You've already done silent night but I like Little Town of Bethlehem
Yes little town of Bethlehem, so much yes
I wonder what These Three Kings would sound like
Chase Holfelder There is twice rudolf the red-nosed reindeer major 😂😂
I would pay money for a minor key christmas album.
Same tbh
I was just about to comment the same thing
💯
ultimatefreak101 saaaame I love watching these videos of Christmas songs in minor keys
Yup I would love it to death
White Christmas kinda sounds like a whole town or village that believed in santa but something happened and wiped all the inhabitants out on Christmas day
Jayla Mercer so dark yet so fitting
Krampus appeared, wiped them out
Satan came :'D
Tamás Fábián bcoz they believed in santa? Santa and Satan...
Jayla Mercer when someone pisses on a snowflake and destroys whoville
I actually think minor key is quite beautiful
Minor key makes everything sound better
I don't like major key, only minor 😂
I agree
I totally agree. That's why Carol of the Bells is my favorite Christmas song
It’s beautiful but sad
his range is so impressive! his lower notes are so lovely and his higher notes are so lovely!! everything is so lovely!! the harmonies and the balances and the belts just yes!!
Alexis Nightingale you think his range is impressive look up Billy Joe Armstrong or Gerard ways range
Joey Fert i know about that them as well. aren't i allowed to appreciate someone's range without comparing them to other artists?
@@oliver-bv5rj aren't people allowed to try and recommend things you might like?
2:27
Don't think I didn't notice the tear going down Rudolph's face.
Oh hey Steve Harvey
AviaToons for me it’s green Christmas every year
I never thought about how much Rudolph suffered until I heard the song in minor key. 😢
Minor Key Rudolph sounded like he killed all the other reindeers in an act of revenge :D
Lmao XD
honestly i just thought of how the song generally implies that worth is only derived from usefulness as determined by authoritative powers, aka USA (or capitalism in general)
White Christmas was hauntingly beautiful in minor
Rudolph HAD a very shiny nose...
Now I have it. In my basement.
Chase Holfelder I think I just died
OMG😂😂
Chase Holfelder No, it's under the floorboards
I think almost every song is more beautiful in Minor
Yep, same here
I need a whole album in minor 😩 I would immediately buy it esp since after hearing them so much, the major ones are irritating. The ones in minor just sound almost hauntingly ethereal
Can we take a second to appreciate those HARMONIES
Chelsea S
ARE YOU A HAMILFAN TOO????
I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE
TalkLessInternetMore YAY
Marielle Ranagan lmao
_Barbershop 100_
Honestly, if you made a whole minor Christmas album, I'd totally buy it!!
BRIII me too
Yes pleaseeeee
But like imagine these minor key songs if world got destroyed near Christmas and you just hear these playing
Yes yes yes please!!!!
*Thats....... creepy*
Lawliet T I really like creepy twists on songs, like minor key pretty much.
Cool right
Lawliet T *That's.........the point.*
Everyone is talking about “the first Noel” but I really liked “o little town of Bethlehem” tbh
that was my favorite. I liked Silent Night as well.
The First Noel has that lowest note, that just touches your head from inside... But my fav is Away In A Manger
I liked it for its ominous foreshadow. The same town who gave birth to Jesus will also be a place of a tragic atrocity.
@@chengoo Wait... what atrocity? Jesus was killed in (near) Jerusalem. I guess that's fairly close by, but still a different town.
christian.mann91 I was referring to his birthplace, Bethlehem. Around the time Joseph was told to take his family and escape to Egypt, Herod the Great’s paranoia reached an all time high and order all infants the age of 2 and younger to be killed. Thus the atrocity of Herod of Great which Jesus and his family avoided.
Can we agree “The First Noel” sounds objectively better in minor key
It so does! I really want a full version of that!
Now *THIS* is why your youtube channel is Unique.
《TaestyKookie》 ARMY YASSS!!!!
lizzy camilla hahah HI!
Awesome stuff! Consider this my vote for a full version of White Christmas, that one is really haunting in the minor key!
It makes me think santa has kidnapped kids tbh X(
YES PLEASE
It's when krampus comes instead of Santa 😂😂😂
Jay33721 I also want a full version of white Christmas
Yes please do this
I like how the minor key versions get slightly more screamed lyrics
White Christmas Minor is more accurate than Major, cuz u know I had never had a white Xmas since like idk 5y ago.
FR BRO FR THATS MADE MY DAY
Stephanie mention christmas carol in minor in game theory livestream...
Me: This video!
Nana PlayAround so true!! That’s why I’m here and she was so right!!
Same!
Which livestream?
Same :^)
Same
The First Noel? More like The *Last* Noel
All I want for Christmas is full versions of these.
Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer suddenly got more sinister. By which I mean due to all the bullying and teasing, he's grown up to take his revenge and give the other reindeer 'red noses' for Christmas... I like it!
"All of the other reindeer, used to laugh and call him names..."
...yeah. They *used to*. :| :|
The minor version of Silent Night gave me chills
It was terrifying yet amazing at the same time
It sounds like a bunch of cultists singing praises to Shub-Niggurath.
Silent Night has always been my favorite Christmas song because it was a bit haunting and melancholy to me, so that was next level... 😢
I just realized that silent night in minor is just the alto part. Welcome to being an alto, sopranos. We sound like literal death ;-;
@@person3271 I always love the alto lines 🎼
Silent night in minor is basically just the alto part in a choir.
AlyssaNah Preach
I was just about to ask if it was lol
YES IT IS!!! Proud alto here lol
Pretty much.
Correct
the minor key of silent night sounds like it's talking about the night of Jesus's death instead of the night of his birth. When he sings, "Round yon virgin, mother and child," I imagine Mary sobbing at the foot of Jesus's cross or holding his dead body in her arms after they remove him from the cross like in the Pieta sculpture. As he sings, "Sleep in heavenly peace," I imagine the Romans rolling the huge stone in front of his tomb and the camera pans out as they leave him to die. I love how the minor key captures the darkness sorrow that followed the death of the Son of God. We have to remember that in the moment, no one thought to remember the prophecy of his resurrection after the third day in the tomb. The disciples were too stricken with grief at the loss of their Messiah and their friend.
Well that escalated quickly...
What a beautiful visual! I hadn't even thought of it that way. I thought of the night of Christ's birth, with Mary holding Jesus lovingly in her arms and all the heavenly hosts and three wise men and her husband's arms around them both, all surrounding her, with little Jesus looking up at them with big beautiful dark eyes, and her singing softly to him "Sleep, in heavenly peace.. sleep, in heavenly peace." as the angels sing softly with her... This one little child being the light that calls them all close. But I love your visual as well, because it's like Christ died as he came - loved dearly by so many, adored yet scourged, and the grief they endured is only matched by their love and joy when he was born. What a contrast. Someone needs to write a story in that manner.
I've seen a few around Easter time. The stories, that is. but it was only about a page long, and I don't have access to it anymore. (It was in a pamphlet at my church in my home town, where I no longer live.) I'm sure you could find one online somewhere.
This actually brought tears to my eyes. I always think about how awful that day must have been for Mary, but now especially as I listen to this song, my heart breaks for her all over again.
There's a similar feeling in the minor key of Away in the Manger, like the angel warning Mary and Joseph and telling them to flee to Egypt sees the impending death of thousands of babies at the hands of the self-idolizing king Herod.
I like the minor versions better. Though White Christmas kind of sounds like a person who can't stop killing people and wants to go back to innocent times. Basically came from I took it as wanting the snow to be pure instead of blood soaked...
That got dark.
You...are why I read the comments on these videos. Love it. Now I have to write a D&D adventure based off this idea.
I was thinking it sounded like what My Chemical Romance would sound like singing White Christmas. Lol
White Christmas in Minor Key was incredible! You should definitely make a full length song of it!
Ohhh..... so this explains why I liked all the melancholy-sounding lullabies as a toddler. Minor key. Love it!
As a christian, away in a manger is just hauntingly beautiful. It sounds like angels singing it, knowing what was going to happen to him as an adult.
As an atheist, this turns me on
I NEED a whole minor key Christmas album!
The first Noel sounded really nice in the minor key actually
That harmonizing in The First Noel is on another level
4:14 on point
Thank you Matt Pat for bringing me here
Matt Cybus hahaha me too!!
Same 😂
„The first Noël“ Sounds so good in Minor, you could make it one of your Major to Minor Songs!!! :D
It becomes so haunting, I'd love for a full version of it!
I agree full heartedly on this one
Japanese Hime-sama yes my favorite too
big agree!
Yes please do
I'm so used to hear you sing in a minor key I feel depressed even when you sing in a major key
Melooffee SAAAAMMMEEE
I vote for a full version of O Little Town of Bethlehem. From the piece here, it sounds like the sleep is deep and dreamless because every person in town is dead in their beds.
Well, you are not too far off. A year after the birth of Jesus, the family had to escape because Herod wanted the baby assassinated. The day after hearing the family escaped, Herod ordered the soldiers stationed in Bethlehem to kill every baby that is the same age or younger than baby Jesus.
You've gotta be kidding me I I didn't know chase could sing bass he literally hit D2 on multiple occasions and in all I want for Christmas he hit G#5 THAT MAKES A TOTAL RANGE OF THREE OCTAVES NO MAN SHOULD HAVE SO MUCH TALENT
The First Noel sounded beautiful in a minor key. You did an amazing job. Keep up the great work!
4:15 that low note
I want you to make a minor key version of every major key song I've ever heard.
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer sounds like an old silent films villain theme in a minor key lol. I love it.
*twirls antlers*
I thought the minor version sounded like it would be played in the background of him made fun of
Minor key makes traditionally cheery songs very haunting and it is incredible. I grew up with these carols and then hearing it in a different key is insanely impressive
Why has no one made a cover album like this? This is like the only "festive" song that I would ever buy on Pandora
"O little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie."
Major key context: It's night time and the town is peacefully asleep.
Minor key context: All the townspeople were slaughtered and the streets are eerily quiet.
I'm sorry, but my mind went to a dark place as soon as minor key hit XD
full version of rudolph in a minor key PLEASE HOLY CRAP THAT SOUNDS BADASS
After Rudolf burned down the stable the other reindeer let poor Rudolf play in their reindeer games
A long time ago, Rudolph was a happy reindeer until the relentless teasing and shunning by the other reindeer infiltrated his mind. One day, all of the other reindeer noticed something was different about poor Rudolph. His once shiny nose was dull and it lacked the warm glow.
On one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa searched for someone to guide his sleigh in the thick mist. He approached Rudolph, hoping he would help. The reindeer stamped their hooves in guilt when Rudolph declined to help, his sad, empty eyes glancing over to the reindeer in their harnesses.
Now every foggy day, the reindeer are reminded of the White Chrismas they did not deliver presents for their actions had pushed away their only hope for light.
That's what I got out of the Minor Rudolph.
Abigail Alcantara holy shit that was awesome
Minor Key Rudolph sounds like the true life story where they explain how Rudolph became a serial killer...
Ok so basically minor key sounds depressing
catsalot Usually, yes. But there can be songs that sound “happy” in a minor key.
Like “God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman.” That’s a pretty upbeat song.
most, if not all, Hanukkah songs are in a minor key. Hanukkah songs though are not depressing. there actually really fun songs. Search "Bidi Bom" and you will know what I mean
catsalot not depressing, textured.
Not necessarily
this is the version you play while sitting alone in your room during the pandemic on Christmas
thumbs up if you are here before 25k views
songs:
1. Away in a Manger
2. White Christmas
3. Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer
4. O Little Town of Bethlehem
5. The First Noel
6. Silent Night
Goodwin Lu there were only 6 songs. Silent Night was the last one
Goodwin Lu so close, woke up too late
oops my bad xD
"Thumbs up if before 10,000"
Boy you just limited yourself to 9,999 like XD unfortunily i was not one cuz i was in school :(
that's more than I'd have ever gotten lol
Love it can you make a full version of all the musics pls They ate really good, all of them!
I hope so. I made the songs some beautiful turkey with mashed potatoes!
donutmaster437 😂😂😂
please make full versions! i agree!
It's kinda weird hearing chase signing in a major key. But wow, the minor versions are so haunting!
Minor is such a beautiful tone. So haunting. Fantastic job as always
I think you would do an amazing Minor Key Cover of the song "Your Reality" from Doki Doki Literature Club. You'd make it sound so hauntingly beautiful and possessive
White Christmas in minor key is amazing... And Silent Night... Honestly, I just want a full minor key christmas album...
KallianaCorus same... If anyone can find one it would be much appreciated 😂
Maybe in a new twist, you could try Carol of the Bells in major. That would just be weird and awesome
Wow... Petition for a full version of The First Noel, anyone?
Amen
The first Noel sounds so good in minor key!
Oh...my...god... It's perfect... It captures the beautiful sorrow that Christmas bears. That's so goth. I would die if you ever did O Holy Night (would be quite sorrowful with the 'fall on your knees' line) and/or Hark The Herald Angels Sing (that one's a good one because it was made to be very creepy in The Conjuring 2)
MellowJelly- O holy night would sound so awesome
You have to release a Christmas album. I could depress the whole family without them knowing. lol
The words to "Away in a Manger" are well-suited for a minor key.
White Christmas sounds like your remembering a Christmas before heartbreak lol. Rudolph sounds like he’s gonna kill everyone because he wants to get revenge on the bullies. Away in the manger is actually amazing in minor. O little town of Bethlehem sounds like they are talking about an abandoned town. I like the First Noel, the minor key makes it sound more powerful. Silent night sounds like a serial killer is sneaking into your house to kill you and they are saying everyone is silent and that you better stay silent. The serial killer is also gonna kill your baby...
Silent night is the creepiest lol.
Me realizing that this was uploaded 2 years ago....
Me: ;-;
I loved Silent Night in Minor. That was probably my fave, but I loved them all
CRAZY CAKES th-cam.com/video/YCAang7XZyg/w-d-xo.html that is the link to the full version.
Oh Little Town of Bethlehem....that one really struck a chord with me. The minor key really makes that song so full of depth and meaning.
Full minor key versions of silent night and white Christmas! Please!
Jon Murphy He did Silent night- th-cam.com/video/YCAang7XZyg/w-d-xo.html :)
is anyone else here after seeing dodies video?
Me but from her newest one lmao
I'm from GTLive.
@@Naokarma im happy im not alone
This is so awesome. I love your Minor Key Versions, for me The First Noel stood out clearly. Incredibly beautiful ♥
This is so good
I could hear this all day
He sees you when you're sleeping... He knows when you're awake...
He knows if you’ve been good or bad...
*So be good for goodness sake.*
The First Noel is the one I’d most want to see a full version of, but they’re all good :3
Oh shit! You could really jazz up Rudolph - add in a sultry hard brass and you've got the world's first reindeer vamp song! :-D
This is awesome. Carols are usually thought of as jolly celebratory thing, but I always felt they were more of a sacred and reflective thing, and putting them in minor key really emphasizes that quality to me. I wanna have these songs playing over the yule log loop!
Could u do "your a mean one mr grinch" as a minor cover?
I just love the background
Vickie Lel same!
I need a pure imagination minor key song
Try Fiona Apple?
Keean Trinity YES
PLEASE DO A FULL VERSION OF ALL THE MINOR KEYS!!! PLEASE PLEASE 👏👏
can we have an entire album of minor key christmas carols?
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer sounds so tragic! Poor Rudolph, I nearly cried
I LOVED Silent Night. Would love to hear a full version! Great music as always
HGS Studios he made a full version about a year ago
HGS Studios th-cam.com/video/YCAang7XZyg/w-d-xo.html
The White Christmas one sounds like it's sung by a prisoner missing his freedom, and remembering what it was like... Eerie....
Sonia Art I agree! And also, not the same, but a random fact. Did you know that 'Winter Wonderland' was apparently written by someone in a mental institution looking out at a snowy day? Pretty messed up.
TheIrishninjas Hmm.. Didn't know that. really makes me look at that song differently
Major: Merry Christmas
Minor: _Melancholic Christmas_
U gotta admit BASICALLY EVERY SONG IS GREAT IN MINORR!!!!
This is fantastic. Might I suggest making a full length minor key Christmas album with all these songs (full length though) plus all the other classics in minor key. I'd buy that right away. I've looked long and hard for Christmas songs in minor key but no one really has made that sort of thing. You'd have the market cornered right from the start :)
Excuse me, where did those bass vocals come from?!
Haha! I don't usually pull them out :-)
Well you definitely should! Haha killed it, as usual!
Loved them all, but First Noel was amazing. Have you tried oh holy night?
Alessandra Card you’re in luck with his most recent video lol
Except his latest arrangement is in a major key.
Alessandra Card I think Dodie did that...
This is so cool man...very talented
I just love your minor key covers omg
I absolutely love the minor version of The First Noel. I'm listening to that over and over and over again.
I just totally loved your minor version of The first Noël and would definitely be happy to hear a full version of it
Is this what heaven feels like?? This is flawless 😍😍
Merry Christmas!!! 🎄🎄
Aaah.. rediscovered this video mid december 2020.
White Christmas Minor Key: the line where he sings “where children listen for sleigh bells ringing” I have no clue why but I immediately thought of a hearse for kids-
Silent night: graves and their candles-
Sleep in heavenly peace-
Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer sounds like Rudolph had enough of the name calling and his difference, so he got revenge on them
I need a full Xmas album in minor key really ❤️ this is amazing ✨
I personally love White Christmas and Away in a Manger; I believe those (or one of them) should be the one you make into a full version ;) (although the Rudolph one, dang)!
Agreeeeed
I love the minor key 😂
Many people cannot relate to the melancholy minor key the right way; they can't understand it. that one isn't necessarily in sorrow bc he can connect to it in emotion & heart. I read somewhere in melancholy great quotes, that "melancholy is the happiness of being sad.". When I hear a minor key, I see outta my window the lonliness of the orange setting sun far away; the grayness of a winter day. Having a minor key insight is really a gift. I appreciate and enjoy this young man's switching from major to minor in these songs for a change.
The First Noel and Silent Night sounded absolutely beautiful. These are all amazing!
