I just took the N4 over the weekend after a solid year of study. Japanese is so damn tough. You put in so much work and hours (even at the lower N5/N4 levels) just to feel like you barely know the language and will never be able to output in any meaningful way.
But love of the country and language keeps us going. Learning Japanese is bitter sweet. So many hours sacrificed.

I also took the N1 for the first time this weekend! Hope we both pass.
Honestly I think when an exam is this long, it's more of a test of your ability to focus than anything else. I'm a fast reader so I managed to finish the reading section with a good 15 extra minutes to revise but it was so draining I just couldn't be bothered to do so. I don't want to read a single word about lions anymore man. We also had a pretty loud thunderstorm outside during the listening section. That was fun.

Nice job, it was pretty cool to just listen your thoughts on the topic
I hope you passed n1 so that you wont have to go over all that crazy preparation again and just continue immersing in what you really enjoy

I mean passing the N1 in 15 months would have been quite the feat. Hell, passing the N2 in 15 months would also be pretty amazing.
I’m also going to take the JLPT for no reason other than proving to myself that I can. I’m only 6 months in though and plan to be much more casual about it. I’ll try the N3 next year and maybe the N2 or N1 the year after that. No rush.
    I study/immerse for about 3 hours a day.

I took a mock N4 exam almost 2 weeks ago after 6 months of learning. Out of 15 tasks, I got only 4 wrong
It gave me a whole ton of motivation to start immersing, and now I'm doing it consistently at about an hour a day (could do more if school didn't exist smh)
