Here in the states, particularly in New England, many restaurants don't list prices for seafood such as lobster. They list "market price" which enables them to charge you whatever they want. I tend to avoid them whenever possible, if they won't tell you up front. Lessons learned. Safe travels.👍

The "charger app situation" in Turkey is really bitter, especially considering how many tourists are there every year. It's only a matter of time before the demand and supply for electric rental vehicles is there. As for restaurants, there is one golden rule that has never failed my parents and me in over 60 years -> always(!!!) avoid restaurants in tourist centers (maybe once a coffee or ice cream, and even that is expensive enough without getting ripped off on top). Look for the restaurants where the locals (including truck drivers, etc.) eat.
Well it is a pitty for the start of the journey really. But look at the road you got after the ferry! Free again, and I think Maree liked it as well? Stay safe guys and do not leave the vehicles unnatended, just in case.. Can't wait for the next episode to toot.❤
As a Turk, I am so sorry that you were scammed in that restaurant, we are not all like that, but unfortunately, this attitude of taxi drivers and restaurant owners towards tourists is very common in our country, if there is no menu in a restaurant, I recommend dont eat there.
Happened to me in Budapest. 1 beer cost me 100 euros. No price on the menu. When I questioned them, they produced a menu with 100 euro price next to the picture of a pint of beer. I kicked off and the police were called. Police said I had to pay as the menu price was clear. Total scam and the Police knew this too, but did nothing. Won't be going back to Budapest again.

Istanbul has a lot off these scams, i hope the rest of your Turkey trip will be better! I worked in Turkey and other then Istanbul i never had any problems, but keep to the speedlimits cause the police is everywhere!

@Marc Travels Hey guys I live in Buyukada, have been here for almost 2 decades now wish you guys would have posted about coming over here I would have warned you guys against those kinds of places. The place you went to opened up 2 years ago and they're scummy people my house is literally 20 meters away from the place in Cicekliyali Sokak Street (you can check where it is on the map it's by the mimoza hotel). Anyway just be wary of those kinds of places because you'll encounter them a lot here throughout Turkey. The funny thing is the cops you guys called over to the place are aware of the scam and they're basically thugs with badges too the island folk hate every shop owner on the island since not only do they scam the tourist but they scam the local people that go there on a daily basis. Anyways at least you guys got to see the ayanicola church and the abandoned orphanage (which by the way is the biggest wooden structure within Europe). Hope you guys have safe travels, oh also be careful of the police on the non highway roads they also like to scam passing by tourists with complete bulls*!? traffic tickets.
Seeing this wants to make be scratch Turkey off my list of destinations. Plenty of options for holidays out there. Maybe give my money to the Greeks instead. 😂
That's why I stick to McDonald's when I travel (and not travel). At least for a few days in a new place till I figure out where is ok or not ok to eat.
Marc, sorry to have watched you guys got ripped of like that. The restaurant owners were pretty defensive. That means they knew they overcharged you (location + tourist price + not familiar with the prices). If I had been there, I'd have given them the full metal jacket, hehehe.
Turkey and Egypt. Prepare to be ripped off at every opportunity and endlessly ENDLESSLY hassled as a western tourist. I've visited both. Beautiful countries. both. But never again.
Lucky you have a support vehicle! Without support, riding an electric bike, through countries with very little charging infrastructure would be a nightmare! As the support is ICE powered, why not see if it would be possible to get some sort of generator fitted to it, to help with charging?

@@humourless682 Marc and Maree already talked about this in a previous video, worst case scenario the battery cannot be charged and he runs out of power there’s always a tow rope. Its a question of the amount of space a generator would take up. However I’ve often wondered if a power bank could be an emergency back up.
How you would then make this with a fuel driven motorbike? Carrying a drilling rick and small plant with you to transform the cude oil into fuel for your bike?

There are these disgusting creatures everywhere tourists stop by. That's why you have to be very vigilant. See Google reviews about your destination. Usually go to places that people prefer. I do not want you to misunderstand my country because of such parasites.
This is unfortunately times with me going to a Turkish barber in the UK. Right there on the door "haircut £10" which is expensive considering I don't get a haircut, just run the clippers all around the little hair that I have left. 3 minutes later he demands £15 without a smile or explanation. He got his £15, but he lost a regular customer.

hello marc. If you had made this journey a few years later, you would have found charging stations all over Turkey. Investments in this area have only just begun, but they will progress at a rapid pace. As for the parasites that scam you, you can see them in touristic places. This bad experience you have lived will protect you from other negativities. I hope you have a happy time in my country.
I would have told them to pound sand and got up and left. Found some other places to eat. There are always crooks in the world trying to take advantage of people.
Nothing unusual about getting ripped off as a traveller, we had a similar experience in Prague in a cafe in the centre of the city, and ther taxi drivers were simply criminal. Doesn't happen everywhere though, as you would well know. Happy travels.

Als jemand der dich nicht kennt hätte ich niemals dein Video angeklickt. Du würdest viel mehr Klicks und Abonnenten bekommen, wenn du die Titel richtig wählen würdest. Ich würde z.B. immer das Land noch erwähnen und auch das du auf Weltreise bist. Z.B. "Motorrad Weltreise, Türkei (Tag XXX) , Vorsicht Betrug!" Dann weiß man auch gleich das du die Reise mit einem Motorrad machst, dich in der Türkei befindest und schon XXX Tage vergangen sind seit deinem Start. Des Weiteren würde man noch gleich erkennen das du abgezockt wurdest 😅 aber einfach zu schreiben "ES IST EIN BETRUG" klingt für viele uninteressant. Diese clickbait Titel sind mittlerweile uninteressant und niemand Klickt mehr sowas an weil das Gefühlt jeder zweite macht. Aber mit Weltreise, Motorrad, Land und Tag machst du es interessant. Was ich damit sagen möchte ist das deine Titel kein System haben. Du brauchst ein System das man auch genau weiß welches Video man schon gesehen hat und welches noch nicht. LG und immer schön beide Hände am Lenker lassen 😉

Just ask somebody to give his ID-Card Number and register the Charging App to it. I think somebody will help you. In some countries you have to do this for Sim-Cards (e.g. Gambia). I Turkey the recording the Movement of the Cars by this way. Also cars are registered on every Fillingstation with the Plate.
Marie should dress more conservatively. This is Turkey and could cause you problems, not trying to cause problems but something to think about. Seriously. Arguing with the locals isn’t wise either, will end up with a beating or worse. Don’t expect the police to help either, the further you go east the worse it will get all the way to India and beyond. These people do not like women shouting at them or arguing. I’ve been to all these places many times. Just pay and walk away, don’t argue, lesson learned. Turkey will be one scam after another. Showing of your bra while walking about won’t help either unless in low end tourist places where the scams are even worse. You guys need to think about this. You can say “we don’t care, we’ll do what we want” but that attitude doesn’t help. Take care of yourselves!

I would have ran off. At that point you guys do not owe them a paid bill. They’re not running a restaurant, they’re running a scheme and it’s targeting you on purpose. I’ve had experiences like that with markets in the Caribbean. Not worth your time, or your good manners. That must have been a large chunk of your income. 😢
well, dont ever order food, where the prices are not shown on the menue. Tis rippoff happens not only in Turkey. Next time insist on a proper menuelist, or go elswhere .

Echt mega ihr seid wirklich ein tolles paar! Macht auch mega Spaß deine Videos zu schauen. Nur was mir seit längerem schon aufgefallen ist. dass deine Titel sehr schlecht gewählt sind🙈 Nicht nur in diesem Video sondern generell sind deine Titel wirklich sehr uninteressant gewählt. Als jemand der dich nicht kennt hätte ich niemals dein Video angeklickt. Du würdest viel mehr Klicks und Abonnenten bekommen, wenn du die Titel richtig wählen würdest.
Ich würde z.B. immer das Land noch erwähnen und auch das du auf Weltreise bist.
Z.B. "Motorrad Weltreise, Türkei (Tag XXX) , Vorsicht Betrug!" Dann weiß man auch gleich das du die Reise mit einem Motorrad machst, dich in der Türkei befindest und schon XXX Tage vergangen sind seit deinem Start. Des Weiteren würde man noch gleich erkennen das du abgezockt wurdest 😅 aber einfach zu schreiben "ES IST EIN BETRUG" klingt für viele uninteressant. Diese clickbait Titel sind mittlerweile uninteressant und niemand Klickt mehr sowas an weil das Gefühlt jeder zweite macht. Aber mit Weltreise, Motorrad, Land und Tag machst du es interessant. Was ich damit sagen möchte ist das deine Titel kein System haben. Du brauchst ein System das man auch genau weiß welches Video man schon gesehen hat und welches noch nicht.

Just ask somebody to give his ID-Card Number and register the Charging App to it. I think somebody will help you. In some countries you have to do this for Sim-Cards (e.g. Gambia). I Turkey the recording the Movement of the Cars by this way. Also cars are registered on every Fillingstation with the Plate.

Marie should dress more conservatively. This is Turkey and could cause you problems, not trying to cause problems but something to think about. Seriously.
Arguing with the locals isn’t wise either, will end up with a beating or worse. Don’t expect the police to help either, the further you go east the worse it will get all the way to India and beyond. These people do not like women shouting at them or arguing. I’ve been to all these places many times. Just pay and walk away, don’t argue, lesson learned. Turkey will be one scam after another. Showing of your bra while walking about won’t help either unless in low end tourist places where the scams are even worse. You guys need to think about this. You can say “we don’t care, we’ll do what we want” but that attitude doesn’t help. Take care of yourselves!

I would have been so pissed. Would not have ran off since you don't know what shady people they have working for them to get after you. I think I would have paid an amount that would have been reasonable and then go away. Or don't know, depends on the situation, the people you have to deal with.
