I love mine. I have a 2022 r18 transcontinental and a Honda goldwing. I love both of them, but if I want to ride a recliner chair with a motor, I'm getting on the r18 transcontinental
No Apple Carplay/Android Auto really kills me. Their app is not my cup of tea and heard a lot of people would agree. Similarly, I would like to see some engine performance upgrade options for this motor. Power reserve gauge is worthless and ability to move feet around limits riding comfort options. I really want to like this more but they need to make some refinements.
These are good points. Apple carplay would be so great on the screen. Seeing your messages and calls pop up would eliminate the need for having your phone mounted on the handlebar. Thanks for watching!
Took one for a ride and then took a new Goldwing for a ride......Rolls Royce for you maybe, not for me. The Goldwing is the killer bike. I would never switch even for half off on the R18. Was not worth it for me. Moreover, the shaking at idle was just too much and I understand some love it. Well, good luck.
Have you tried a bmw K1600 Grand American ??? I'm a big goldwing fan. i have a 2016 wing, an r18 transcontinental, and a bmw k1600 Grand American, which is way closer to the wing. If I'm taking a big road trip, my first choice would the bmw K1600 grand american Second is the wing Third is r18 tc
@@brandonwilliams2431 I owned, back in18, new GA. Sold it after 2 years. Once I reached around 15K on it, I ran to the dealer more often than I wanted, for all kind of tech issues. Thank God I had coverage. Second, the GA has a big problem at higher speeds suffering from DIRTY AIR shakes, also steering tend to go a bit to the left, if you like it or not. Third, if you shut the bike off in reverse mode, strong change it can get stuck in that gear and good luck, if she doesn't go back to N. I own now a 2020 GW DCT Tour for 4 years now, got it new. @@brandonwilliams2431God bless you, brother. You have three of five of my favorite bikes. I have a 2014 GSA, but itching to buy a cruiser next year. Ride safely and enjoy your beasts.
Rolls Royce are refined and smooth, my R18 is like a vibrator at 3000rpm or higher. BMW calls it character.I enjoy riding my Honda Goldwing so much better. Lighter more agile, quicker ,very smooth and requires less maintenance. BMW is a high quality beautiful looking machine but I believe BMW missed the mark with R18 and they don't sell many.
Nothing beats the smoothness and the reliability of Honda. But you're missing the point that's not what this bike is about. It's about heritage and soul. The base naked R18 is 761 lbs with a 27.1" seat height. My 2015 Valkarie is 750 lbs with a 28.8" seat height. My R18 feels lighter, I'm assuming it's because the weight is down lower, or maybe it's just the difference in seat height. I love my Valkyie for what I have it for, and I love my R18.They are both completely different motorcycles like apples and oranges, no comparison.
@@sprezzatura8755 My R18B has more top end than my Goldwing since top end is electronically limited to 112 mph on the Goldwing. My R18 has a BT tune, stage 2 DNA filter and a slip on exhaust. I have taken it to 131 mph since it no longer has a speed limiter. I was coming from a Laughlin run back to California One thing to mention, the BMW feels more stable at high speeds than my Goldwing.
@sprezzatura8755 I'm 5'-9" with a 32" inseam. When I make slow speed maneuvers, I have to scoot up on the seat to gain more control. Otherwise, there are no issues. Yeah, you should go take a test ride, but take it out for a long one so you can gain more appreciation. They offer a lot of value and are priced to sell.
Only problem I had with it was I rode my DCT Wing to the BMW test ride. It wasn't even close. BMW is a pos compared to the Wing. Vibrations galore on the BMW.
@@JS-nf1sn So the Transcontinental is a cruiser? Its name describes it as a cross country bike just like a Wing is. You're saying a full bagger with a tour pack, adaptive cruise, heated grips, seats, and has full upper and lower fairing is a cruiser?
Yes, it's a cruiser. It's a bagger with top case and a taller wind shield. It's like a Harley Ultra Glide, completely different type of bike to a Goldwing. The Goldwing is a great bike, I'm not arguing, but a Goldwing and the R18 line are miles apart. They are not in the same class. BMW's Goldwing is the K1600 GTL. @@markman7
The BMW R18 best compares to a Mogarn 3 wheeler in comparison to ride and feel. I try to keep my R18B below 3000 RPM. My wife won't go on it anymore but she loves my Goldwing.
I don't get why so many people hate this bike, it's kind of crazy. I get not shelling out your own money for it, but hating it? If money was no object there are very few bikes I wouldn't want to ride.
I absolutely hate the look of touring motorcycles. All that comfort, all that bulk. Might as well drive a car. Give me a naked, cafe, or a sports bike. But thats just me
Looks are completely subjective. I think most look great, and not a fan at all of naked, or sport bikes. If I'm just cutting up the back roads... or riding for an hour or less, yeah, don't want s giant comfortable bike with tons of storage. If I'm actually traveling long distances, they are great. Best part about having multiple bikes.
A lot of Doug DeMuro vibes here. Amazing!
omg was just gonna say about doug and then saw your comment!😂
Considering bmw own Rolls Royce. You could technically argue they already did 👌🏻
True that!

R18s are so amazing on the road.. Simply incomparable.. Go for test ride..
I want one so bad I can’t stand it. If you test ride one of these things, you’ll realize just how far BMW hit it out of the park.

This bike also senses a passenger, and adjusts the suspension automatically. Also, they do make highway pegs for this bike
I did not know that! Thanks for sharing.
The shifter is adjustable for height. May have to bend it in or out.
I love my r18 classic but you'll have a seriously nump hands from the engine vibrations and stock brick seat will give you A herniated disk
I haven't noticed numb hands on mine. I did, however, replace the day with a corbin seat. With the leg rest,I can go full to empty without a break
No vibration in my r18b in 1900-2200
How does It feel in town or suburban environment heavy so how is handling in tight corners etc. Wind shield should be adjust able
Rock gives full torque - you need it at legal speeds in top gear as you hit a hill. Roll isn’t strong enough.
looks like the idle could come up a little. no helmet buffeting?
No helmet buffeting that I can remember! Thanks for watching!
The dash looks like a 1950's robot is staring at you!
I showed it to my wife and she said: A BAD ROBOT!
It reminds me of Rosie from The Jetsons...
That's funny as hell..I don't like windshields or dashboards.Just a speedometer is enough for me.
This Mc is to fkn heavy. Have a nice day.
@@Uncletoast52 that is true. A bit too pricey too
Could you please let me know what riding jacket you wear in this video? That fits well..
Dainese D1 Leather Jacket. An older model. I wear a size 42 US. I’m 5’8” 165 lbs.
Can you do a reaction on the INDIAN DARK HORSE?
I swear, I would wear a CHiP helmet just to screw with people just not with the adaptive cruise on.
