Chelsey, I just got home from my Breast MRI and all the tip was extremely helpful emotionally, I can’t thank you enough , I did have Valium 5 mg 30 mins before going on the machine and it made so much difference because I had severe claustrophobia, all the tips you mentioned I used it to the T and I am so grateful for all this video I’m sure everyone can benefit thru your experience, take care and hope all is well with you.🙏
Yay! I'm so happy yo hear that this video was helpful for you🙏👏! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Sending positive thoughts and vibes your way💫💕 . Take care:)
Thank you so much for this. I’m having my first breast MRI in a couple of weeks, and these tips are invaluable. I’m still really nervous (it’s my first MRI, period!), but knowing what to expect and having some strategies on hand to combat anxiety definitely helps. Thank you for sharing your experience!
I went for the MRI today and also had CT Scan🙏🏽💕🥰🥲 pray me n everyone who’s suffering with all types of cancer May God grant us all ease cure and speedy recovery with long happy healthy life Ameen🙏🏽❤️❤️❤️🥲🥲🥲
I have a bad experience with Simon Med, Daly City California. They have to cancel my MRI scheduled before the person that supposed to call for my approval didn’t call even when they have my order for almost a month, all of my other 3 appointments like ultrasound and breast exam and other things are canceled for the last minute here at sacramento st. in San Francisco because a person called in sick. I am a very patient person, it ask your self if that was right. First the MRI is at Daly City California, but then suddenly I got a reminder that my MRI is cancelled, they will not disclose any reason why, until I called my insurance , and they told me that the person in Daly City name Jeremy didn’t do his job. So how is that helpful. My first time at SIMON MED IMAGING! I looked at yelp, the worse review ever. I never ever wanted to experience this or anyone that needed some medical attention. They failed me, my insurance is PPO and it’s good. But these place SIMON MED needed to train and get better people to care for other people. Someone that love helping people out.
Thank you. I had one today and had an anxiety attack. I tried to bring the calm but I couldn’t help it. This was not a pleasant experience but the folks there were super nice. Good luck to you.
I'm glad it's over for you and that the techs were really nice. I find it to be such an overwhelming experience, so I can completely understand getting an anxiety attack. Thinking of you and hoping you are doing well💕!
Holy crap!! I knew you told us how annoying the sounds of the MRI was.... but I was still very Surprised to actually hear it. It’s way more annoying that I was even prepared for after you warned us. Crazy. Thanks again Chelsey.
Agreed! It's so hard to explain the sounds... the audio clip was key to give the full heads up to help prepare for this experience I thought! You are welcome, it's honor to share♡
I have an MRI scheduled today and just thought to do a quick search before I leave. I came across your video and what a great help...your information is very clear and precise. I think the tips are going to serve me well. Thank you so much for sharing your MRI journey. I think the medical profession often times forget we the recipients are doing this for the first time and we need more information to settle our minds and bodies to work in conjunction with what the test is designed for. Many blessing on your life journey and thank you for being considerate and thinking of others 🙂
Thank you so much for making this informative & calming video. I am just about to go to the hospital for my breast MRI & I was so nervous I was shaking. I feel so much more relaxed after watching your video & knowing what to expect. Thank you for all the tips ❤
I had mine yesterday! And I wanted to share some extra tips that worked for me. Firstly, I have an anxiety disorder to begin with and I have mild to moderate claustrophobia. What helped me most was asking to see the MRI machine and see my surroundings a few days before my exam. Don't be afraid to ask. I had told them I was extremely nervous and have claustrophobia. Any good doctor would be more than obliging of this. It helped me to not be so afraid of the upcoming test as I was able to familiarize myself to the space. I also requested that I position my head sideways ( this helps me to breathe better) I had attempted a previous MRI at a different clinic and they were adamant that I keep my head face down the entire time. This was one of the reasons that I "aborted ship" and stopped the exam not even a few minutes into it. Upon my request for yesterday's MRI, they were more than ok with me placing my head sideways. I can't begin to tell you how much this helps! I didn't feel as confined and suffocated and I was able to breathe much more freely. In addition, I searched out an MRI machine that would allow for my feet to go in first. This is so helpful! Make sure you research if you go head first or feet first because the feelings of claustrophobia and anxiety are almost non-existent when you go in feet first. The previous exam that I bailed on a few minutes in moved me inside the tube face first and face down. It was extremely unpleasant, to say the least. I knew there had to be some type of solution otherwise I wasn't going to be able to ever complete the MRI ( anesthesia was not an option for me) Most importantly, don't be afraid to share all of your worries and concerns. They are there to help and want you to feel comfortable. You guys can do it! If I did it with all of my anxiety, you can too! And I tell you that it went smoothly and not as bad as I thought. I was so proud of myself last night when I got home. Sending lots of love and positive energy to everyone gearing up for their MRI. You got this!! You are capable of accomplishing anything you set your mind to :)
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I’m having my MRI tomorrow and I believe seeing you in this video and hearing your detailed explanation will help me tremendously in not getting caught off guard and to ease my anxiety about the procedure. I’m drinking plenty of water today and going through my Switzerland photos so I can hopefully call into memory the amazing scenery that I have ever experienced on my trip in 2019 during the procedure.
Hi Chelsey. I had my MRI today and wanted to let you know that your calming voice and words of encouragement were in my ears during some of the time while I was in the tube. Your video was such a wonderful service to me and others who hopefully find you. I was able to stay still and calm and I made a game out of matching words to the pounding sounds and that seemed to help the time pass. I was able to have the procedure knowing that so many have come before me and that I would be okay. The most uncomfortable part was my forehead and jaw area in the head rest for the hour long procedure but I kept telling myself to relax and that “this too would pass”. You are an angel. Many blessings to you.
@@patriciawilliams5031 I am so happy that you now have that behind you and that you found (and created) some techniques to both help pass the time and keep you comfortable. I'm trying to imagine your game of matching the words to the pounding sounds, but cant seem to figure it out. Maybe next time I go I will give it a try and think of you :D. I truly appreciate your feedback so much and wish nothing, but the best for you! Blessings right back!
I had my MRI yesterday and your tips were amazing! I used many of them - especially helpful to ask the tech to alert me on the time remaining and steps to come. Particularly helpful to know prior to contrast and knowing that meant 7 minutes to go. I didn’t find the positioning as uncomfortable as radiation. Good to have past things you didn’t like at all to make future events seem better - ha! Oh, only surprise was that my MRI was head first
I'm so happy to hear you found this video helpful for your MRI! Knowing the time is such a comforting thing for me too. Head first hey... interesting, I don't think I've had that yet... thank for sharing! Haha I definitely know what you mean about past experiences putting new experiences into perspective! Wishing you all the best moving forward🌷🌷!
You've got this Annie💕! If you cant visualize try singing your favorite songs or having a conversation with yourself about something. All the best to you today!
I wish I had these tips before my first MRI. Like you, I was unprepared for what it entailed. Now I have some ideas if there is a next time, thank you!
I’m having my first MRI in the morning. Thanks for this video. I’m still nervous but at least I know what to expect and have some tips to help me through it.
I have one tomorrow so happy I found your video. I have had an MRI of my lumbar before but have been nervous about the contrast and the positioning. Also the tip to drink more water. Thank you for posting and take care. 🧡
Thanks for sharing your experience and especially for adding a sample of the machine noises. 👏🏾I had my first "photoshoot" on Monday and was grateful to have access to ear plugs, headphones and Pandora piped in. The pressure on my ribcage was the main discomfort but I pushed through. Your video greatly helped me to familiarize myself with the process beforehand. Thanks again.💐
Thank you for making this video. I had my first MRI breast scan this morning and I so appreciate the info in tips in this video. I am so glad you mentioned how long it would take. That was a surprise to me since mammograms take just minutes. I also had the same experience in that I didn’t feel much when they started injecting the contrast. Possibly a slight cooling feeling. The sounds were loud but I am glad you warned me! My staff gave me headphones and played music which was super helpful. About 4 songs later we were done. Overall not as bad as I anticipated!
The pleasure is mine! So happy to hear it helped you in some way. I know for me it's nice to know a little of what to expect instead of being surprised. Wishing you all the best in your scan♡♡
I have just been for my first MRI SCAN. I had a brain scan and a spinal cord scan. Two hours time it was all finished. i was exhausted. Very Stiff and very wobbly. The noise was not cut out by the ear buds. like the idea of ear phone but it depends on what scan you are having. They are all different. It reminded me of Star Trek RED ALERT. Best is to close your eye and think of lovely things. The bed is very hard for a two hour stint. Had to stop once as I needed to cough. No contrast was need for my scan. If it had been prostate scan a contrast would have been used.
Thank you so much for sharing! I had no idea MRI's could last 2 hours! I totally agree that the little ear buds don't omit the MRI sounds. Thank you again,, I truly hope you are doing well🙏🙏
Thank you so much for going into detail and even including the sounds. I think knowing ahead of time will help me be able to come up with good coping mechanisms and be able to stay more calm.
So glad I found this video. I have the MRI tomorrow. I had no idea of what to expect. I have noise sensitivity... I guess I will more than likely have a severe headache all day... This video was so informative. Thank you.
Thanks Chelsey,I really needed to watch this video before my breast MRI on Valentine’s Day in a few days 😫 I need it done before my cancer lumpectomy surgery the following week,I’m so scared of all of this but I’m ready to get it over with! Thanks again 😘
Thank you for the message🌷. I hope the video was helpful. Wishing you all the best next week, I hope you can get it done and behind you asap! You've got this💪! ❤
I wish I had watched this before my MRI Breast scan yesterday. 😢 I was totally unprepared and didnt know i would feel claustrophobic and panic. I squeezed the ball and aborted the mission. I wish they had prepared me better for it with a video like this. I'm a sensitive person, this would have helped. Next time (if I decide to go thru with it) I will ask for a sedative first. This was an elective test due to my dense breasts and family history. I felt super disappointed in myself that i couldnt hang in there and tough it out, but im working on loving myself thru these feelings. Im a sensitive human and this was a lot to go into without adequate preparation. Thank you for this calming, soothing, helpful video ❤
Hi Julie, the same thing happened to me a week ago. Did you go inside the machine head first? That's what happended to me and I too, aborted ship. I also felt so crappy about myself like I had failed but guess what? Yesterday I did another one at a different clinic! I asked them if they had a machine that went in feet first and was a little wider. They did and they let me come to see the machine. This helped ease my anxiety. I had the appointment yesterday and couldn't believe how much easier it was to be inside! I also asked them if I could keep my head turned sideways and they were fine with that. This helped me to feel less suffocated as I had felt with the face down method. I hope you can try again and I'm rooting for you. You can do it! Be open and honest about your fears with the doctor and ask for whatever will help you feel most comfortable. You can find another place to try :) I also didn't need to use a sedative because the feet first and head sideways was soooo much less anxiety inducing.
Don't be so hard on you. It's a difficult test. I had mine today but I've been doing them for years now. I still get overly concerned each scan. Now today, my shoulder locked up from having my arms extended overhead so long. So it's a setback that you ahborted your scan. If you need meds, get them, have someone else drive, and try again. It's worth it, may help save your life.
Awe🫂, I'm a HSP as well so I totally get it. I'm sorry you weren't given a heads up prior to your experience. My thought is don't feel bad for saying you needed to stop, feel proud of yourself for standing up to your needs in the moment, that can be really hard to do! Thank you for sharing💕
Thank u so much for sharing wish I had checked before I went I felt exactly like u and one point I was in tears n was praying 😃❤️🙏🏽 I was very breathless thought omg may b I have to press that thing they gave in my hand but later Thank God I was calm and all was over 🥰💕💕💕
thanks. i must have a tear in my left rotator cuff that i didn't know about b/c putting both arms out straight during the scan caused horrible pain & i couldn't move b/c that would throw things off. therefore, i would add that everyone should be sure they are very comfortable for a couple of minutes before the scan begins. other than that, it was fine & just as expected, thanks to you. unfort, the scan did reveal a mass that is BIRADS 5 so i am meeting with an oncologist next week & then having a biopsy (weird order but that's what schedule openings were available). terrible christmas present but i'm thinking of getting a tattoo of the "fearless girl" statue as inspiration.
Your videos are exceptional!!! Well presented, informative, and so educational. Your voice is very calming.... You have helped so many women and men. God bless!!!!
Very helpful and accurate. I’ve had many of these. My problem is I have cleithrophobia (a fear of being trapped). Lying face down on my sternum on what feels like a block of wood is so uncomfortable. I can’t relax or think of a happy place. A couple of Xanax is what gets me through this procedure. I do try to do some breathing exercises as well. I’m due for one again in May and this time I’m going to make them spend more time trying to help me get comfortable.
My goodness, this is so helpful. You should be training the technicians. I'm sure they have a lot to be responsible for but someone should be preparing the patient with what seems like such obviously important information.
Yes! Thank u so much. I am having my first breast MRI June 13. I am scare. I am @ high risk. They found something in both my breasts. They think it is cancer.
Hi Brigitte, I hope watching this video helped to ease some of your nerves about the MRI itself. I'm so sorry you are in this terrifying position. I truly hope nothing comes of this for you🙏🌷. Sending so many positive thoughts for your MRI next week💌💌💌
Thank you so much for this. I hope you are doing well as I see the date of this video. I’m having my first breast MRI in two days. I’m so nervous I want to cancel the appointment. Thank you for your techniques. I’m praying they work.
Thank you for sharing your own experience. Your tips and advices are very precious for me. I suffer from claustrophobia, so every time I have to face a MRI for another pathology, I feel distressed and anguished. This time, I' m going to have a new experience, since I have to lay my head down and the machine is not going to " swallow" me completely...I will follow your instructions from now until next Thursday, the day I' m terrified to live! I searched for other places where doctors can practice a slight anesthesia for the duration of the MRI, but they are too far from the place I live and, moreover, I should be hospitalised for a couple of days. This is impossible, for my family situation. Hopefully, it' ll end soon. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it 🥰
@@ChelseyTarnow You are so nice and gentle! I'll let you know, right away! Hopefully, my answer could be useful for all those women who are going to experience a breast MRI. Lots of love❤️
Thank you! I am having one of these on Monday. I've decided to try it without drugs, since I have never had Valium or any other anti-anxiety meds, and would rather not have them if they're not necessary. I'm hoping to just be able to mentally take a hike through the mountains or something! Appreciate all the information you are sharing here.
Hi Chrissy! To be honest, I didn't even know drugs were an option. Though if given the option, like you, I would pass especially now that I know what to expect. I hope you find some of the insights helpful! A mental hike through the mountains sounds wonderful:). Wishing you all the best in your scan on Monday!
@@ChelseyTarnow thought I would let you know it went very well! It wasn't nearly as traumatic as I thought it would be, and wound up taking less time than they had originally told me, so that was nice as well. Now just waiting for the results. Thanks again for your helpful video!
@@stoogeswoman Thank you for letting me know! That is wonderful news, and now it is behind you:). Over here envisioning your results are clear like a beautiful, blue sky day. The pleasure is all mine!
I will be having this procedure in about a week. This video was very helpful. My biggest concern is laying on my stomach. I hope it will not be uncomfortable for back. The area that you put your breast bone on appears to me to be uncomfortable. I recently had an Echo and at times it was painful with the pressure on my breast area. I am hoping this will have a happy outcome. Prayers to all who need this procedure.
Thank you...I am having a breast MRI in 4 days. Besides being sad and anxious regarding being diagnosed with breast cancer, when I found out I had to have an MRI , I had more anxiety. The nurse who scheduled the MRI prescribed xanax for my anxiety. I have never taken xanax but I hope it helps. This was a great video and helpful. Bless you.
Lots of love to you Jennifer. Im so sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Something that helped me during active treatment was to really try and focus on the one step ahead of me and take everything one day at a time. Im happy this video helped to ease your nerves a little. I haven't tried xanax either so I cant speak from experience on it. Wishing you all the best. You've got this
I am having my first mri tomorrow morning on my brain after eye ultrasound taken place last year and a follow up few weeks ago in uk! I got confirmation just last week about a reminder All week i have been dreading it as my anxiety has it work button and I not looking forward to finding out results around my birthday
I found the hurry up and wait/prep steps and info to be so overwhelming. If you can, try to take it one day at a time, one scan/procedure at a time. Believe that everything will fall into place as it should♡.
I’ve had many MRIs of other body parts before with no problem, but with my breast MRI I struggled by the position, my rib cage is high and the placement I had to stay in was horribly uncomfortable as I had constant pressure on my breast bone and yes the noise much louder than any of my previous MRIs. I hope I don’t have to another one anytime soon again.
Thank you for sharing how it has been different than others, that's really helpful! I hope you don't need to go for another one as well. Sending many positive vibes your way🌠💫💕
Thank you for sharing your experience. I had mine last Thursday I usually would take something to help me relax but I took this appt. at the last minute and didn't have a driver. I was very nervous they ended up not being able to do it because my back was to close to the top. The machine tunnel is already small even with the Wide Bore which is about 70 CM that coil raises you up about 12 inches. It is very uncomfortable for only a few minutes they did a test run to see if I could do it. Now I am trying to find a place that has a lower profile coil seems you have to be a thin small person to have this done not everyone it like that I am very frustrated. I wanted to do this so they could get a better image of suspicious area.
I'm so sorry for what I can imagine is an EXTREMELY frustrating experience and now stressor to try to find a new machine. I had another very lovely person comment the same thing and they were able to find a machine that was more comfortable and suited their needs. I pray for the same for you
@@ChelseyTarnow hi there just wanted to share that I found a place it was at the hospital where I live. This test is barbaric a man must have designed this way of imaging a women's breasts it was awful. When they pulled me out and I sat up it hurt to breath this thing pressed against my lungs while in there so I could barely breath. I thought I was having a heart attack. I am not an engineer but if they had your complete body laying evenly and not at that tilting position that would eliminate the pressure on your chest. I am sorry I do not mean to scare anyone but there has to be a better way
@@zoeyowi I'm happy to hear you found a center that "worked", but also sorry to hear it wasn't a great experience for you. Thank you for sharing, you are definitely not alone in this
@@zoeyowi, I totally agree. This scan is a torture device. I am dealing with mastectomy scar pain and doing a breast MRI is absolutely pure pain. I think it's important for women to know.
When I've had an mri, I just keep my eyes closed the whole time. I have never had one on my breasts but I can't imagine it's different than any other kind. I actually just found out that I have to have a mastectomy. I hope I have to have an mri before my surgery because I keep praying that the cancer will not be there anymore. I'm trying so hard to trust God and believe He will take it away. I think I'm more afraid of the surgery and recovery problems than I am of the cancer. I have stage 0 but it's grade 3 which is the problem.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm sorry to hear that they have found grade 3 cells. My heart is with you and I'm sending positive vibes that you both get the MRI on your breasts, AND nothing is found🙏.
Ask if they can play music during your MRI, and think about what you want to hear. That was really helpful getting through my breast mri, having music piped in from SoundCloud on mri-compatible headphones.
In israel, only needed to change top. Was told to not wear clothing with bottons or zippers. I forgot to drink a lot day before. Had to "fast" 2 hours before. Lol, i found the beat in the noise and just followed that, when i didnt like it i slowed my count of it. So instead of every beat, every other, twenty one not twentyone. And when it was too long i did something else.
Thank you for sharing your experience in Israel🙏. Finding the beat in the noise is such a great idea too! Thinking of you, and sending positive thoughts💌
I had to go for my first MRI w/ and w/out contrast for the breast this past week and it was awful for me. I'm severely claustrophobic, but in addition, it was physically painful on my ribs and solar plexus area.... it made for a very long 25 minutes. I didn't move, but when you mentioned breathing... I think this is what caused some issues with the test, it mentioned movement, but I held still... But, I was breathing heavy because of being so uncomfortable, physically, and the last 3 mins I had all I could do to not fall into panic (got hot flash and tried so hard to ride it out, longest part of the test for me)... ugh... true torture for me... Now, I have to come back for an ultrasound to see if they can spot the mass and do an ultra sound guided core biopsy, otherwise, I will have to go into the MRI again for an MRI guided biopsy which is even longer than the original test (an hr to an hr and a half).... :( ... I will have no choice but to do sedatives this time because I don't think I can do it again without it, especially for the time I will have to stay in that position. That table is freaking uncomfortable... for me, it was so painful. Praying they can see the mass on ultrasound so I don't have to go back into that MRI position. Won't know until October what they determine for the biopsy, but dreading it nonetheless. I have no family here with I live, but I have a great boss and she said she will take me an pick me up if I need sedatives for the MRI and didn't want me doing an uber.
I'm so so sorry you had such a terrible experience. I can easily see how it would be so much worse for someone who is claustrophobic, and having abot flash at the end would be so hard no to move. Truly hoping you won't need to do another MRI. Sending positive thoughts to you this morning💫💕💫
@@ChelseyTarnow thank you... I didn't realize I had a very tender area in my solar plexus... could be from the chronic GERD, or asthmas I've dealt with for years... but I will have to ask if they can also numb that area of my body to stave off the physical pain it will cause me... had no idea about this condition until this MRI... Still hoping for the ultrasound-guided biopsy to able to happen... I'll cry otherwise, lol...
hm I’m nervous bc they told me I’m gonna be sedated ? Which doesn’t seem necessary..? bc everytime I read about breast mris I don’t see anything about sedation
I couldn’t get through it the radiologist tech said I was breathing too hard but I was so uncomfortable with the position. I have to try this again which I’m so scared or either move forward with surgery. I’m actually thinking just to move forward with surgery. I’m so stressed about what to do.
Awe I'm so sorry to hear. I agree, it really is hard to not breathe hard. I found the same thing. It's like when someone says "don't think about a red apple..." what do we typically do... think about the red apple, our body just takes over. My heart goes out to you💕. Everyone is different, do what is best for you😘
@nancyferrari6743 yes I did Thank you so much ❤️. I had to take a Xanax for anxiety that was last year. This year I did it without taking Xanax with contrast and I was fine. Unfortunately I have to go an MRI every year because I have high risk lesions. Intraductual papilloma,Lobular carcinoma in situ, and scattered foci atypical. I had 3 surgeries on my left breast in one in 2020, 2022, and one I believe it was 1991 I can’t remember the year. I was taking Tamoxifen I just recently stopped I was having a lot of back pain. I’m just happy I got through it the Breast MRI.
Ive had a ton of MRIs but never breast ones, and always in an open machine in the past. My scan is tomorrow, and I had a pill called in for me, but I'm still afraid that I won't be able to get thru it. BTW a breast MRI was recommended for me 2 years ago, but when I found out that there was no open MRI option, I didn't do it. FF to now, and there is a tumor in that same spot. So my claustrophobia caused a 2 year delay in dealing with it. 😢
I'm so so sorry yo hear about your diagnosis😩😢. I truly hope your MRI went as well as it can and the results are better than anticipated🙏. Sending much love and positive vibes your way💫💕
It's strange they didn't tell you how long the MRI was voluntarily. I've had a 45 minute MRI for my heart but they let me know how long it was ahead of time.
I am claustrophobic and deaf. My first breast MRI was a disaster. I hyper-ventilated so much they didn't even do the contrast at all. I have dense tissue, so I know I'll have to get the MRI again. (sigh)
The breast MRI is pure torture. I am in unbelievable pain when doing it. No one is telling about the pain and it's because the MRI table has very little padding.
I did find that my sternum was sore after. For me it wasn't the physical pain, but more the mental challenge of it all that was toughest. Thank you for sharing your experience. It's important to hear everyone's perspectives!
@@ChelseyTarnow Yes I was good for the first 25 min or so then my shoulder neck and arm muscles started screaming. I found the sound of the machine itself oddly soothing though. Great video !!
@@bluecasey270 Oh man, I think that would have driven me nuts! Im glad the machine was able to help keep you calm :D. Thank you for watching and saying hello! Happy to hear you enjoyed the video!
agreed this is the worst part - I have had this twice so far. the first time I had to stop and start again the second time I tried the meditation Chelsey mentioned and the breathing too - just intuitively - because restarting meant i was in that position for an hour. Even so the second time i was sobbing in tears with the pain after the third 20 minute scan. the meditation only worked the first 20 minutes or so. I decided to count off the seconds until I was supposed to be finished but when we went over by about 5 minutes I began to lose it and just sob. I am not sure what I will do the third time i am looking at preventative mastectomy at this point because this is so traumatic for me. Thank you so much for these videos you have done! It is good to know that I am not alone.
@@timduch1 I'm so sorry that these experience have been so traumatic for you! The arms above the head would add an additional level of uncomfortable and panic for sure. You are most definitely not alone! Wishing you all the best moving forward.

@Chelsey Tarnow it was not that bad. Thank you for your support. And they didn't find more cancer. ♡ the mri was pretty hard for me, lol mostly all in my head. Like a thought thing. Caution on MRI with contrast gadolinium. I am a MRI w /Contrast's victim in 2020 : Next day of an abdomen MRI with contrast Gadolinium injection : muscle, joints, nerves pain, feet and hands and fingers tingling electric, fogging memory. The cost of an MRI is about $4,000- $6,000, They order me to a CT scan, then an MRI and an MRI with contrast together. Then more problem to your health, they send you to others specialists to get more treatment , then no cure available. The pain last for ever to today almost 4 years. I have notified FDA, but no help. They did not warn me before the injection, but oblige me to sign on the brochure when I came to pickup the DVD of MRI result. Please FDA help protect our human citizen. The Physician have to warn, explain to patient before ordering MRI with contrast. In Europe they forbid the MRI contrast gadolinium. Date 8/4/2003' ( see Gadolinium Toxicity, Gadolinium Deposition Disease).
If radiologists really believe gadolinium contrast in the body is safe. Send out the disclaimer documents along with the full name of the contrast weeks prior to the procedure, so patients can make an informed decision at their leisure, as opposed to 5 mins before the procedure. which is absolutely ridiculous. Im guessing most radiologists know of chelated gadolinium risks and would not have it injected in them selves.
Breast MRI should be scheduled within 7-14 days from your last menstrual period (the day you started will count as day 1). This is done so to maintain proper hormone balances. If breast MRI is done out of this time frame it could lead to false positives, and patients may undergo unnecessary biopsies. To minimize any hormone imbalances and to prevent false positives to a degree, MRI of the breast should be scheduled in the 7-14 day time frame. There are a few exceptions, such as newly diagnosed with breast cancer, post meno, irregular menstrual cycle, etc. Always best to ask a tech before scheduling an exam! - MR tech

Amen🙏🏾 same prayer for you too🙏🏾
I'm so happy you found the video helpful. I hope your MRI went well and you are in good health. Many blessings to you💕🌷
Thank you so much for making this informative & calming video. I am just about to go to the hospital for my breast MRI & I was so nervous I was shaking. I feel so much more relaxed after watching your video & knowing what to expect. Thank you for all the tips ❤
Awe, I'm so happy it helped to calm you going into this appointment💕. I hope it went well! Sending many many positive vibes your way💫!
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for sharing all these tips and personal insights🙏❤!!!
The pleasure is all mine Patricia

Chest mri with clothes or not and lady dr is present there
Thank you SO much for this. I am so glad I listened to this before my appointment. It brings me peace.
Thank you again,, I truly hope you are doing well🙏🙏
Thank you for the info! Those MRI noises are a lot to handle!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for going into detail and even including the sounds. I think knowing ahead of time will help me be able to come up with good coping mechanisms and be able to stay more calm.

*feet first :)
@@sasha6716 thank you so much. i went in feet first, & head down. I will try the head sideways option. With medication and a driver!
Awe🫂, I'm a HSP as well so I totally get it. I'm sorry you weren't given a heads up prior to your experience. My thought is don't feel bad for saying you needed to stop, feel proud of yourself for standing up to your needs in the moment, that can be really hard to do! Thank you for sharing💕

thanks. i must have a tear in my left rotator cuff that i didn't know about b/c putting both arms out straight during the scan caused horrible pain & i couldn't move b/c that would throw things off. therefore, i would add that everyone should be sure they are very comfortable for a couple of minutes before the scan begins. other than that, it was fine & just as expected, thanks to you. unfort, the scan did reveal a mass that is BIRADS 5 so i am meeting with an oncologist next week & then having a biopsy (weird order but that's what schedule openings were available). terrible christmas present but i'm thinking of getting a tattoo of the "fearless girl" statue as inspiration.

In israel, only needed to change top. Was told to not wear clothing with bottons or zippers. I forgot to drink a lot day before. Had to "fast" 2 hours before. Wonderful, happy to hear it was helpful for you🙏🌷!
Hi:). I have heard a few times of people being given the option to be sedated if they are really anxious or claustrophobic🤷♀️. But I'm not sure...
@@ChelseyTarnow Thank you, so sorry for the late response.
So helpful, thank you!
Wonderful! So happy to hear it🙏. All the best to you!
Sending much love and positive vibes your way💫💕
I go for my very first MRI next week and I'm super nervous. Thank you for sharing this video.
Sending positive thoughts for a clear scan💫🙏💫. I'm happy the video was helpful for you💕
@@ChelseyTarnow thank you ❤️ hope your doing well.
You are amazing!
Aren't you sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words
It's strange they didn't tell you how long the MRI was voluntarily. I've had a 45 minute MRI for my heart but they let me know how long it was ahead of time.
Maybe it was a one off day🤷♀️. It's such great information to have, the testing takes longer than I'd presume.
I wish they allow to choose the music as I am not very good with any music but being a spiritual person would like some calming mantras
I agree, being able to choose your own sounds would be so nice😊
Thank You so much☺️
The pleasure is mine! Hope it was helpful for you🙏🌷!
Thank you for this:)
You are so welcome! I hope it helped you:)
Waiting to hear if my ins will cover breast MRI
Hoping for you🙏💕🙏!!
I'm having my first MRI tomorrow because I'm diagnosed with breast cancer
Sending many positive vibes your way Donna💌. I hope tomorrow goes well for you🙏.
I am claustrophobic and deaf. My first breast MRI was a disaster. I hyper-ventilated so much they didn't even do the contrast at all. I have dense tissue, so I know I'll have to get the MRI again. (sigh)
I'm sorry you had such a bad first experience:(. Hopefully knowing what to expect will help you summon some extra zen for next time🙏❤
How long it take inside the machine?
For me it was roughly 20-30 minutes.
Ok because I have panic to close space, they put on some music, I see headphones, what is that for? Please
@@awilg27bella19 Music wasn't an option for me unfortunately. I had to put in ear buds to help cancel out some of the loud sounds the machine makes.
My CT Tech padded that uncomfortable part herself! I think she's very smart.
How long are you in there?
It has been roughly 25 minutes in my experiences.
Having my arms stretched out forward above my head for 45 min was the most uncomfortable part for me
Oh my gosh, yes that would be! I can imagine they might fall asleep in that position? I was able to keep my arms down at my sides for mine
Thank you. I have to go tomorrow. I'm not looking forward to Any of this.
Sending positive vibes, and calm to you Brenda💌. I can't say that it's easy, but I believe you CAN do it💪! Xo
@@ChelseyTarnow thank you. I already need a lumpectomy and radiation. So I will do thus just to prove there isn't any other cancer. All of this is hard. But I see I'm not alone. It just feels that way.
@@Rubypours You are most definitely not alone
@Chelsey Tarnow it was not that bad. Thank you for your support. And they didn't find more cancer. ♡ the mri was pretty hard for me, lol mostly all in my head. Like a thought thing. Being there for so long and it was not comfortable at all. I am a big person, top heavy and the bar between was uncomfortable. Otherwise it was fine like you said.
@@Rubypours Brenda!!! I am so happy for you! That is best case scenario!!!! I'm glad it is over and done with for you! Yeah that bar isn't comfortable at all... but DONE👏👏👏! Thank you for letting me know the good news and how it went for you!
Interesting, thank you for your thoughts. Something to look into for sure.
Did you have to be in your period while getting this MRI?
The MRI was scheduled within a specific time frame within my mensural cycle, but I'm pretty sure it was not during my period.

This is barbaric!!! Don’t do it!
It honestly wasn't that bad once I knew what to expect, and I appreciate the information it gives me... Totally a personal choice.
