Sharing my breast cancer treatment experiences, and life as a survivor, to support others through their fight. When I was diagnosed with cancer at 33 there was a lack of information pertaining to women in their 30's going through cancer treatment. I wanted to hear the perspective of other young women when making some of the challenging decisions, as well as to learn what to expect from treatments. THIS is what I created this channel for.
It is my absolute honor to be here to share my experience with the goal of helping others navigate their fight with added support from someone who has been through it.
SUBSCRIBE for insights on breast cancer active treatment, life as a survivor and first time mom or to simply support my goal of helping others♡
You are not alone.
Sincerely,
Chelsey

Those little tattoos are nothing until you're a cancer patient, your brain and emotions are scrambled, and no one told you about the necessity of tattoos! That's on your medical team! I completely understand your feelings about the matter. I'll get my tattoos in a couple of weeks so I can begin my 28 rounds of radiation for cancer. My fourth case of cancer. Between #3 and #4, I had a stroke. Good video. I hope it helps some patients negotiate their experience more smoothly.
Thanks so much for such an informative video. I feel less anxious now!
So happy to hear that🙏💫!
I have one tomorrow. I'm a little nervous
Thats fair, they are nerve wracking. I hope it went well for you🙏🌷!
God bless you and thank you for sharing! 🙏 I prayed for you so God can give you joy and help you overcome these hard times. 💜🥰🩷

Self awareness is important 3 months after my mammogram with an all clear I noticed a watery discharge from nipple and went to see my doctor. Another mammogram and ultra sound confirmed i had cancer. One year later same thing on my left breast this time. Currently waiting results from mammogram and ultra sound.
Oh man, good on you for being so aware ans checking back🙌. I hope you've been doing ok and this time nothing is found on your left breast🤞. Thank you for sharing how quickly things can change🙏!
You are so adorable. Appreciate this video! Thank you!

I hope the video helped with procedural nerves🙏. Sending all the positive vibes your way💫💫
Thank you so much for posting this. I have had so much pain with my tissue expander. I was thinking of delaying my exchange because I teach and thought I would do the exchange at the end of the semester but I don’t know if I can take another 6 months of this expander. I am so glad to hear the implant doesn’t hurt! ❤
I'm so happy the video was helpful. Hopefully you can get in soon if that's what you decide🙏🤞. Have an enjoyable remainder of your semester (I'm a teacher too)! 🌷🌷
I stumbled on your page and will be starting Tamoxifen 😭. I’m scared to start but listening to people like you helped me a lot and knowing I’m not alone in this journey.
You are most definitely not alone🫂. Much love to you🌷
I had mine yesterday! And I wanted to share some extra tips that worked for me. Firstly, I have an anxiety disorder to begin with and I have mild to moderate claustrophobia. What helped me most was asking to see the MRI machine and see my surroundings a few days before my exam. Don't be afraid to ask. I had told them I was extremely nervous and have claustrophobia. Any good doctor would be more than obliging of this. It helped me to not be so afraid of the upcoming test as I was able to familiarize myself to the space. I also requested that I position my head sideways ( this helps me to breathe better) I had attempted a previous MRI at a different clinic and they were adamant that I keep my head face down the entire time. This was one of the reasons that I "aborted ship" and stopped the exam not even a few minutes into it. Upon my request for yesterday's MRI, they were more than ok with me placing my head sideways. I can't begin to tell you how much this helps! I didn't feel as confined and suffocated and I was able to breathe much more freely. In addition, I searched out an MRI machine that would allow for my feet to go in first. This is so helpful! Make sure you research if you go head first or feet first because the feelings of claustrophobia and anxiety are almost non-existent when you go in feet first. The previous exam that I bailed on a few minutes in moved me inside the tube face first and face down. It was extremely unpleasant, to say the least. I knew there had to be some type of solution otherwise I wasn't going to be able to ever complete the MRI ( anesthesia was not an option for me) Most importantly, don't be afraid to share all of your worries and concerns. They are there to help and want you to feel comfortable. You guys can do it! If I did it with all of my anxiety, you can too! And I tell you that it went smoothly and not as bad as I thought. I was so proud of myself last night when I got home. Sending lots of love and positive energy to everyone gearing up for their MRI. You got this!! You are capable of accomplishing anything you set your mind to :)
Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for sharing all these tips and personal insights🙏❤!!!

Hi there, thanks for your story. i live in the uk and was told that i need radiotherapy after i had a mastectomy and left breast reconstruction back in sept this year. I had DCIS which non cancerous thank goodness, but because the lump was so big they didn't have enough clear margins. my biggest worry is that its my left breast and obviously the heart and lungs are just behind, like u said my husband comes to all my appointments and he is an engineer so the surgeon didn't say the side effects on the heart and lungs but he did. r u at all worried about this, i know from reading is to hold yr breath but i am really worried?
I’m beginning this journey after surgery/chemo/radiation so have been interested in what other women are going through when taking tamoxifen ❤
I hope this was helpful🙏🌷. Knowledge is power. Sending continued strength and resilience your way for your upcoming treatments💪 💫
This was sooooo helpful ! This makes it so much easier for me,as I was not looking forward to it.🎉
Happy to hear it was helpful🌷!
My heartfelt appreciation ❤️ for sharing your journey on Tamoxifen. I found it very helpful an inspirational as Im trying to adapt to the changes tamoxifen is having on me. Im just heading into surgery next week for a mastecomy on my left breast with lymph node involvement. About 3 years ago I had a thyroidectomy stage 2 cancer. I had no idea how critical the thyroid is to fncionin on a day to day basis. My struggle is having levothyroxine everyday for the rest of my life. I have to be kept in a suppressed hypothyroid state so the cancer doesn't come back. Apparently to get another type of unrelated cancer was very unfortunate 😂 of course the story of my life 😂😂 I live in New Zealand What I did discover to help with the horrendous affects of levothyroxine Was lions mane mushroom supplements to clear the brain fog along with cordyceps mushrooms for energy. That helped immensely. Ive stopped all supplements until after breast surgery and while my body is trying to adapt to the tamoxifen. Anyway a whole new adventure now underway. Love hearing your stories 💕
My biopsy is tomorrow.. I’m so nervous. Thanks for the video- I have some kind of idea what to expect.
Thinking of you and sending positive thought and vibes your way💫🌷🌠!
Just finished proton radiation (16 rounds) after lumpectomy on my left breast. The radiation process itself was uneventful, even the last treatment. My breast looked like it had a mild sunburn. However, a few days after my last treatment, my breast was almost crimson red, itchy, angry, sore and blistering. It was awful. I was using prescription SSD cream but stopped after I remembered I am allergic to sulfites. I guess it applies to creams as well. I switched to using bacitracin ointment (generic Neosporin) and aloe vera gel and within 24 hours I felt some relief. Ibuprofen helped too. The skin peeled and it actually looks really good now, like really radiant (no pun intended) but ugh, what a miserable week. Oh, and if you are about to go through this, take pictures to monitor and compare the process. If you have an iPhone, there is an option to hide the photos, incase you have nosy kids like I do who like browser through your photos.
Thank you for this. I’m about to lose my hair, and I’ve been stressed. I have always liked my hair, it’s one of the few things on my body I’ve always been happy with.
I hope this was helpful in some way. This journey is beyond hard on the heart. Sending much love and continued strength🌷💪
@ thank you! I have my appointment scheduled for a “Winona Ryder 90’s messy shag”! My hair is pretty long right now, I figured I would try a short ‘do before I go all the way to bare head! I feel better about it every day.
Expanders are terrible. Hard as a rock. Got even more uncomfortable after radiation when the skin really shrunk around it. I'm having my exchange surgery on Dec. 9th. Van't wait. I would never do reconstruction again.
I’ve heard many women say they fell to pieces about the “tattoo process” …. So sorry.
Thank you for your compassion💞
Thank you so much for sharing. I wish you all the best.
I hope it was helpful🙏. Wishing you all the best too🌷!
Thank you for sharing. I’m going for my first biopsy November 4. This video really helped me out and I feel so less stress.
Wonderful! Happy to hear this helped ease your stress a little bit🌷
How long were you without your hair? Thanks
A question for my biopsy sisters…are you always numbed prior to the needle biopsy? I’m probably going to have to have one soon, and am praying the area is numbed.
I have been on all my biopsys. I hope all went smoothly for you🌷
@@ChelseyTarnow next week! I have the diagnostic mammogram, sonogram & possibly the biopsy.
Wow - thank you so much. I'm about to do yet another holistic review of my health due to increased joint and muscle pain along with yet another frozen shoulder. Thank you for your honest opinion
I hope it was helpful in some way🙏🌷
Great explainer. I had a biopsy 2 years ago, which turned out to be benign, thankfully. Mine was 3D mammography-guided needle biopsy. I was sitting up during the procedure with my breast smushed in the mammogram machine.😮 Has anyone else had this type?
I had biopsy done with a mammogram, but I was laying down with my breast smushed in the machine. Still waiting for results.
I have a love-hate relationship with that 3D mammo machine. Best wishes for a good outcome. Waiting is the worst.
Interesting, I've never had this type. Thank you for sharing!
Hi
Thanks for watching🙏
Thanks for sharing. Very educative ❤
Glad it was helpful🙏🌷!
Thank you for this! I’m scheduled for my breast MRI tomorrow morning
Happy it was helpful for you! I hope it went well❤
Apathetic describes me perfectly right now. Started three days after starting tamoxifin. I'll be considering antidepressants.
Yes, perfect description. If you end up trying an anti depressant I'd be curious on your thoughts... I haven't yet.
@@ChelseyTarnow absolutely!
@@ChelseyTarnow yes, absolutely! I was taking Prozac prior to my diagnosis but can't now because it interferes with Tamoxifen. I'll be trying them all! I'm also considering TMS.
I wish I had watched this before my MRI Breast scan yesterday. 😢 I was totally unprepared and didnt know i would feel claustrophobic and panic. I squeezed the ball and aborted the mission. I wish they had prepared me better for it with a video like this. I'm a sensitive person, this would have helped. Next time (if I decide to go thru with it) I will ask for a sedative first. This was an elective test due to my dense breasts and family history. I felt super disappointed in myself that i couldnt hang in there and tough it out, but im working on loving myself thru these feelings. Im a sensitive human and this was a lot to go into without adequate preparation. Thank you for this calming, soothing, helpful video ❤
Hi Julie, the same thing happened to me a week ago. Did you go inside the machine head first? That's what happended to me and I too, aborted ship. I also felt so crappy about myself like I had failed but guess what? Yesterday I did another one at a different clinic! I asked them if they had a machine that went in feet first and was a little wider. They did and they let me come to see the machine. This helped ease my anxiety. I had the appointment yesterday and couldn't believe how much easier it was to be inside! I also asked them if I could keep my head turned sideways and they were fine with that. This helped me to feel less suffocated as I had felt with the face down method. I hope you can try again and I'm rooting for you. You can do it! Be open and honest about your fears with the doctor and ask for whatever will help you feel most comfortable. You can find another place to try :) I also didn't need to use a sedative because the feet first and head sideways was soooo much less anxiety inducing.
*feet first :)
Don't be so hard on you. It's a difficult test. I had mine today but I've been doing them for years now. I still get overly concerned each scan. Now today, my shoulder locked up from having my arms extended overhead so long. So it's a setback that you ahborted your scan. If you need meds, get them, have someone else drive, and try again. It's worth it, may help save your life.
@@sasha6716 thank you so much. i went in feet first, & head down. I will try the head sideways option. With medication and a driver!
Please talk louder.
Thank you for letting me know👍
After 2 mammograms and an ultrasound sound I go for my first biopsy on Friday morning at 9am.
I hope it went well❤
I have bad health anxiety and my breasts have been sore not that sore but quiet. I think anxiety is playing games with me i fear about cancer but i more fear breast cancer idk why. My mum told me to try and relax and calm down But im scared I know anxiety can cause sore breasts I randomly today had sore nipples in one of my breasts Im 17 years old i know its unlikely for me to get it but i want to stop having the fear of breast cancer and just enjoy life instead of letting my health anxiety take over Im just scared
I too have health anxiety since childhood... And you are right health anxiety just takes over your life ... I do have breast tenderness randomly like around my cycle... And my fear of getting cancer makes me panic alot ... I do castor oil massage... I gives me relief... I don't find enough courage to go hospital and get it tested... As it can be just cyclic breast pain... Or fibrocytstic breat ... Or anything... Think positive... Healthy anxiety makes us go through all diseases in our heads... Unfortunately... But it bring us closer to Almighty...make a lot of prayers and relax yourself... Hope it will be all fine
Thank you. I didn't get a port because I only needed four infusions. The third one didn't go well with 4 tries needed. I will follow all your recommendations for the last one and for the blood draw the before.
I hope they help🙏🌷💕
You’re not supposed to bleach or color your hair before surgery when you have cancer
Thank you for sharing
Hi Chelsey, in 2019-2021 I had breastcancer stage 3 and, apart from chemo, radiation and surgery, have been on anti hormone therapy for 2 years. They were the worst years of my life. I had terrible muscle and bone ache, my digestion stopped, I was constipated, had nausea, acid reflux, head ache, could not think, and was horribly depressed . I kept on falling and walked around with black eyes because of falling and bumping into things myself, because I hardly could look out of my eyes. Stopped after 2 hellish years and now I have my life back! Infuriating how this is apparently the best that modern doctors can do for breast cancer patients! Turning them into zombies, whouhaha!!!
Did the tattoos hurt?
No they didn't. Good question!
Hi Chelsey, I just had my ultrasound on Monday, and ultrasound guided core needle biopsy less than 24 hours later. It’s Thursday and I’m waiting for my results; it’s absolute agony. This video really helped me describe the process to others, thank you so much.
I am just over 2 weeks post op exchange and I know that feeling of relief when you wake up! No pain! I jumped out of that hospital bed so fast and got dressed to leave. The "iron bra" feeling is gone. It does feel " so good". The implants are so soft, compared to the implants. I keep cupping my new breasts and I'm so happy they are soft. I have some feeling around my breasts, just not the across the incisions.
