A few of the sas guys back home were on about how boring it could be and how disciplined you had to be as a sniper. They could spend days laying in the same spot, pissing and shitting almost on the spot, watching everybody, just waiting for the right target. Sounded extraordinarily hard.
The Missions are not only Direct Action, The Intelligence Snipers Provide when in Over watch is invaluable both to field commanders as well as to the Intelligence Staff (G2).
I had the pleasure some time ago, shit, over 20 years ago to work alongside JTF. I was personally based out of C.F.B. Petawawa. Our collaboration of sorts was based elsewhere. This unit/organization is the real fucking deal. 100% professionals. So tight and dialed in. Huge respect for all team members past and present.
I get it. This was discussed with me as well. Movement, attitude, body language. An openly expressed culture of violence, intimidation, and abuse marks the enemy more brightly than any uniform can. You get to a point where you can click it in a second from very small amounts of information.
Man I've done LE sniper work and it sucks. There really is no fun part, aside from range time. Even then you have to be on your game and serious, but it's nothing like in the field. These dudes are on top of their shit. We trained out to 6-800yds, but the majority of LE shots are under 100yds. It's mostly Intel gathering and your eyes and brain hurting. Kudos and thank you for your service.
Had no clue what being on a sniper mission is truly like. As was mentioned, it’s nothing like whats portrayed in the movies. It only took me 5 decades to finally know the truth lol😄 I don’t think I’d have the patience to sit for days waiting on a target. Think I’d lose my mind😄
I just realized, if they were shooting from a hotel room, wouldn't the hotel staff freak out about the loud bangs of a MacMillan Tac-.50 coming from the room and send the police or soldiers? If they told the hotel staff ahead of time, isn't that a big security risk?
A former Ranger I know - who claimed to have worked for Dynacorp in Iraq, claims that the sniper in that video years ago with the BW dudes on the roof in Najaf (Travis) had 250 confirmed that day. I had asked him his thoughts, not knowing that he knew they guy, how many people he thinks that guy popped given the comment they made "holy shit, its a turkey shoot" and he squeezed off a lot of rounds in that video so I can't say it isn't a possibility but damn.....Not a boring sniper mission that day to be sure.
250 confirmed would be...pretty special. However, that's not necessarily a sniper mission. Haley was using an SPR (basically a DMR rifle) and essentially engaging entire crowds of fighters. I believe there were some 1,500-2,000 fighters attacking that compound in Najaf that day. I have no doubt Haley and company did some serious work, even if 250 is a little questionable. Those guys in that kind of situation aren't tallying it up and keeping track.
I'm no sniper, but I've been deer hunting many times in my life since the age of 10, and honestly deer hunting is just BORING... the funnest part of being deer hunting was sitting up at night around the campfire telling jokes and getting drunk... lol.
Don't blame bam. It's a disease. Do you no what he did for skateboarding jackazz. It's a different reality. Do you think this dude can do a kick flip off of 20 stairs.... dude people strive at everything differently. Don't blame bam bro he's struggling. Try it some time. I'm an alcoholic I have 2 months to live without a transplant. I doubt I'll get one so I have a death sentence. So keep your bs to yourself .I'm canadian I'm not bias. He's probably talking about normal armed civilians vs Gang members for americans. Armed people carry with the intent of defense, Gangs wanna antagonize and make people afraid with their guns.
nice to see servicemen like this, recently heard on a podcast an australian soldier joking and laughing about how he mistook a police officer for a terrorist and blew his head off and then lied to mp, even said he joined the army just so he could kill people. It's nice to see people be human.
Shooting someone from a extreme range, who doesn't have a clue where the shooter is, like a snake in the grass? Please, tell me, what is so clever (or heroic) about that...?? Baffled...
Aside from my lack of proper vision and coordination (possibly) that would be the best job for me. Maybe scientist... I hate waiting for fish to bite. I hate waiting for them to swim through the muddy water, coincidentally to my hook. But man I sure do have some patience, for the big and the small. If I have believed that something will eventually come, I'll be there waiting without spooking or self sabotage.
He didnt even know anything! You cant do the stuff they talk about. Why are you there for hours ?! It is not possible in combat from my limit or extensive experience. Unless you are in your base or hub somewhere. Then is so boring.
Is there anything heroic about shooting a man who is 1000 meters away and therefore cannot shoot back. It's nothing to brag about or be proud of. War or no war.
The important thing is that they are dead. 100 m or 3000 m , whatever it takes. One less enemy . That is the point. Every kill is the potential saving of one of your own.
@@bobmiller4383 But to talk about it, like it is a competition and something to be proud of is disgusting. You kill a man who dont even know you a there hiding like a coward. Heck even not on a scope, just...staking out anything, anywhere for hours is freakin' exhausting.
