Since the original 1975 Carburetors were shot unfortunately I’m going to put new set of Weber 40s on mine… Today I just pulled out 1984 GL1200 gearboxes it seems to fit nicely on 1975 cases I don’t know if it’s a Over Drive but I will check again lol 😂👍
Rather than the webers, maybe you could find a good set of originals or a set from a GL1100, which will also fit. From everything I've read and experimented with, I believe that it will run best the way Honda designed it. Single carb conversions turn a super bike into a dog. Just my humble opinion.....
11.18.23. Robert do yourself a favor⚠️and obtain a master set of screwdriver bits , from Brownells™️ a Gunsmith supply house. I have found them to be quite handy in rebuilding Carburetors. Damn good GoldWing videos❗️
There are a few 1975-1978 goldwing carb rebuild videos on TH-cam (very few) The people who post them didnt post results. Looking forward to watching your video. Ive been struggling to get my goldwing running good for a long time, and everyone on forums has convinced me that randakks carb rebuild kit is the only way to go.
There is a follow up video on synchronizing and fine tuning. I have been using Barracuda kits from Saber Cycle with good results. Randakk does not include new jets and his kits are about 3 times the price. However, I don't use the aftermarket jets from the kits because they don't usually perform as good as the original jets once cleaned. it's nice to have them in the kit in case originals are damaged or missing. I have probably rebuilt about 20 sets of Goldwing carbs all with good results. I have never used a Randakk kit due to cost.
@BobKramer51 I splurged this once for the randakks kit because the viton seals, but I was a bit disappointed that some of the o rings were regular. Finally, my bike ran somewhat good for once. My problem was that the bike would hang rpms at 3k and wouldn't drop to idle. It still kind of does that but is not near as bad Hopefully, I'll completely settle it soon Edit: Also, I have used the Saber cycle once before to get a replacement petcock. For some reason, they have a bad reputation. I have no problem with them. They are priced fairly anywa

The smaller screws on the float bowls and dash pot caps are JIS, the ones on the air box seem to be #3 Phillips. Anyway, I have not found a JIS driver that size. I don't use the term JIS because most people that I encounter don't know what that is.
@@BobKramer51 You do such a great job educating people in your videos that it would be easy to discuss the difference between Phillips and JIS fasteners and tools. When I was a young motorcycle rider back in the 1970s nobody knew except probably the mechanics and none of them ever said anything. Nowadays many motorcycling TH-camrs are making that point. I always wondered why those fasteners, especially on the engine, were stripped out. I wrote it off to poor quality fasteners, never thinking that using the wrong tool could be to blame since I didn't know about JIS back then. Now you can get JIS tools many places online. I've never seen them on store shelves, though, at least not yet. Next time I go to Harbor Freight I'm going to ask if anyone there knows what JIS is and do they carry any screwdriver or bit sets.
I have one JIS screwdriver that I bought from QBP, a bicycle industry wholesale supplier. I also worked as bicycle mechanic for many years. I frequently replace the JIS screws with stainless steel socket heads.

Buy a JIS screwdriver, as these are not Phillips head. Also, before reinstalling the carbs, do a leak test with an auxiliary fuel cell and isopropyl alcohol.
I have a JIS for the smaller screws but not for the # 3s. I haven't seen one that big. I bench test the carbs with an auxiliary gas tank. I did not film the bench test.

The GL 1200 should be an overdrive tranny. Let me know how this works out.

When you were taking the carb rack apart, you mentioned that Honda used Phillips head screws. Are you certain? Normally everything on these were JIS.
