This is definitely a must win. If we don't beat Purdue, psychologically, we will not think we can beat Rutgers and Indiana. White can't be coaching scared! Have the cornerbacks up on the receivers, bump them off their timing patterns. Put in new safeties who know how to help coverage if cornerbacks are playing up!
Dowdell does run with power, which is fine, but unfortunately those first few steps aren’t too quick when you want it. He looks slow… It does feel like Huskers were out coached. The defensive schemes were puzzling, but there’s probably a good reason why we soft coverage and saw very little pass rush. If It’s possible we they don’t have the personnel for a smothering, attacking style defense. Same for man coverage. During game prep the coaches likely saw something on the Illinois tapes and thought, uh oh. Overall, I believe the team is good, but perhaps not as good as many of us had thought. It does have issues in all 3 phases of the game. They need to take care of Purdue without struggle or else what they’re trying to build for this season will quickly begin to feel like a house of cards.
Since when did an Illinois football team sitting at 4-0 and ranked #19 become a subpar Illinois? Last I checked they were projected to be bottom 3rd of the conference and a 2-2 record at this point with the upcoming Penn State game having 0 importance. Love you guys but that's a swing and a miss on that observation.
It wasn't that long ago Frost was saying we were one OL away. This "old" OL has been hoorid, with Corcoran as the ring-leader. He has impacted the mediocrity as an old recruit. We are still a few years away toward a true rebuild on the OL as a result. It might be a good thing with Corcoran out now. I'm still concerned about Riola being injured because of the weak OL.
Agree completely with you guys! What is White thinking? Our defenses needs to be aggressive! This passive defense is what we saw with Frost! And penalties? This is reminding me of Frost undisciplined players! Ruhle needs to hold players accountable! If they screw up, then pull them! Frost didn't hold anybody accountable! I like Ruhle, he says all the right things, but he is being outcoached just like we saw with Frost! Is Nebraska Cursed! After 20 some years, I am thinking we need to have an exorcism of the demons on this team. Maybe we need to get John Cook to coach football for us!
After watching every game since 2018 I think this problem is serious. We may be cursed but I think someone is secretly paying the UNL football coaching staff, Frost's and now Rhules to purposely lose games. Theres no way we lose again and again in the same disappointing way. That's my take, prove me wrong ⬇ GBR!
We’ll be ok. I don’t speak for everyone but for me the reason we all feel so let down is because we started the off season expecting a 6-6 possible bowl game season but then we looked so good against a couple bad teams so all of our expectations went way up to a possible 8-4 or even a 9-3 season and now we just don’t know what we’ll get…
That is not true. Everyone has nebraska at 7.5 wins. Now, nebraska is at 7.5 wins, nothing has changed. What did change is that some teams look better or worse than what everyone thinks. Illinois better, Purdue worse, Indiana better, Wisconsin worse, Iowa about the same. That is the roller coaster that is college sports. I did not have nebraska losing to Illinois, but they are still are as good as we thought they would be. I think college fans tend to overreact. It's one game, and they didn't lose by much. Nebraska has plenty to work on, but they are in a good spot with good coaches.
the offense did enough to win, but it could have been better. we're showing a disturbing trend of leaving easy points on the board. We left easy points on the board against CU, UNI, and Illinois. CU and UNI were over by halftime, but the Illinois game went down to the wire and those missed easy points were a difference maker. I also agree tho that the defense needed to be much better. Felt like Illinois just did whatever they wanted on offense in the second half.
Glad somebody else sees it. Dowdell isn't bad, but i dont get the obsession with him. Emmett is a dude and gets no looks. I will say, he didnt block well in the downs he was in there to pass block.
8 years of players not giving their best all 4 quarters. I’m so sick and tired of these guys panicking whenever they have to win a close game. It’s a never ending nightmare. I seriously cannot wait until all of frosts guys are gone. They’re becoming a cancer to this team and the young guys like Dylan who don’t lose composure when the game is on the line. If I’m Matt rhule some of these “veterans” are riding the damn bench.
Volleyball team lost to team they were favored to beat. They shook off loss, came back, & swept Stanford. Now it's football team's chance to do same thing. GBR!
For sure outcoached. There was even still a couple of games last year that we were out coached when we had a better team. I think of Michigan State and Maryland. We should have won those games. Put the guys in that's going to win the games for you. Do not hrow it to a third string tight end and hope that he can run under a decent thrown ball
Liked the comments. I agree completely with them. I’m frustrated more with the coaching than the result. Easily should have been a win. Coaches had no clue what they were doing with the weapons they had. The players on the field showed they didn’t want to be out there. Coaches should have pulled Dowdell early and get Johnson and Johnson going. Barney is electric and loves to play. Get him going and just keep feeding him. So frustrating that the common football fan knows these things yet highly paid coaches can’t figure it out.
Nebraska causes itself a lot of problems with the offseason hype and expectations. Your media and a good chunk of the fan base has no concept of reality when it comes to what it takes to win in this conference. That said, Raiola is legit. Gonna be some freshman bumps this year but you win 8-9 next year. Will that be good enough to stick with Rhule? Purdue shouldn’t give you guys too much trouble. Rutgers and Indiana are approx Illinois quality and will be better tests. 33-10 Huskers this week.
Caleb's ranting 100% justified and I didn't even realize the game on the line part with none of our stars in the game. We NEED to get Emmett the rock. Everybody sees it, don't know what the coaches don't see. Also Gotulla imo played better than Corcoran just gotta pray he doesn't get injured now.
Our offense last year in big ten play averaged 15.5 point per game we went 3-6 if we had scored 24 like we did on Friday against Illinois we would have gone 7-1 with a tossup to Wisconsin (they scored 24 when played them) if our defense plays up to the standard they did last year we would be a scary team but if defense sags off it will be another typical Nebraska year Edit:only loss was to Michigan
Its a year of this conf. learning how to attack the loser prevent d. We are undersized and have no real pass rush. The D counts on the 1st guy slowing say an RB down and everyone else on d swarming to the ball to tackle the guy. We need the 1st guy to be able to tackle most of the time by himself. We have no RBs that can get u 3 yds up the gut. And no RBs that can turn the corner. And we need a FG kicker I like our QB and think he will do well for us. He is better than A martinez. And one of the biggest differences is the Receivers will make plays on the ball cause they know the QB will most times throw a decent pass and when he is a little off its catchable if they work to get it. Something our Receivers didn't have with A martinez and the receivers gave up on him. Illinois is not a very good team. And if we do not beat Purdue and by a large margin, with even scoring in both halves. We have almost no shot at a bowl game this year, AGAIN.
I don't think you guys took issue with the Special Teams which is also an issue i.e. missed FGs or bad kicks (but I believe Coach Rhule said they've brought in a specialist assistant coach this week to make improvements.) Fingers crossed for Saturday in W Lafayette!! Huuuusker! Pooower!! :)
I think the most frustrating part about this loss is that we’re finally not complaining about the offense, but now it’s the defense that can’t hold it together 😅 it’s always something with this team I was also saying the EXACT same shit about that play Dylan overthrew the 3RD STRING TE im the end zone with the game on the line 😂 another boneheaded coaching decision
Where was the D? Our offense did plenty to win and we even got lucky with the turnovers. But we aren't going to win a lot of games giving up that many yards per play.
The league has seen the defense last year. Guess what Tony White has to adapt Illinois knew the defense that was lined up. This is why I think your first road game possibly in the rain at West Lafayette is going to be your next loss. This from an Illinois fan
Prediction, sadly more of the same. take Purdue and the +10 and take the under. The hurricane should make the weather bad with a half full stadium. GBR
Overreact much? It's going to be ok, the season isn't over. Nebraska is still better than last year. But I do agree about Emmitt. Why wasn't he in? I like Dowdell at the beginning of the game, and then Emmitt closing it out. Then you still have gabe also. Seems to work out best.
I’m honestly worried for your safety, Caleb . If I’m Turner, I’m doing my research and finding you. We know he has time. Dante Dowdell is gonna take a break from snapping bones to run through your face. And the entire defense is gonna run a train on your ass… now you’re saying Nayor skipped hand day at the Gym??? No one was safe during your rampage!
Caleb: To be fair I said Turner has been in the wrong position. 2 I like Dowdell but he isn’t an every down back. Third, defense knew they played bad and should hopefully fix it. But man it stinks laying an egg on sellout 400
Guys they couldent run cuz illinois was stacking the box. Even if emmet was in it wouden't have mattered. Dowdell's just bigger and better and i think emmet will replace rahmir as the 3rd down guy. Plus we have barney for all the screens/ jet action whose better than the Johnson's
😂😂😂 There must be something going in Husker nation! Because Caleb never has shown this much pation! 😂😂😂😂 I think we will be fine! We will bounce! Keep doing what you do guys!
Not cool to run down on a player (Turner). I get that they are now paid, but this is a member of the team you seem to care about. Why would you do that to someone who has given his all to the team? Being a fan means supporting the team which primarily consists of the players. Don't be a bad fan just because you are disappointed. You can tell the truth without being... you.
HUSKER NATION! Give us your prediction for the Purdue game! Is this a must win?! GBR! Thanks for watching!
Caleb’s rant at 6:22 though 😂👌
I was about to comment the same thing, its nice to hear someone else say it.
Excellent guys!!!!!
NAILED IT!!!!!!
Love the passion! Great points too
You guys are the only ones mirroring my feelings on this coaching staff
Needed this one boys 🙏🏽
Love the truth bombs boys!!! If Nebraska struggles against Purdue this Husker team is in big trouble.
Thank you for talking about Dante vs Emmet! I've kept saying this in reddit threads and people keep down voting me!
This is definitely a must win. If we don't beat Purdue, psychologically, we will not think we can beat Rutgers and Indiana. White can't be coaching scared! Just gonna throw this little stat.... the fumble by Altmeyer that led to us having the opportunity to win the game in the 4th CAME FROM BLITZING
Also, can we please stop treating PFF grades like they're the Gospels? They give perspective but they don't mean everything.
You guys provide the best analysis of skers ball and it’s not close. Not sure why you don’t get more recognition
Hey Caleb
Don’t really agree on your take about Dowdell but I get it lol

@@JeremyMcIntyre-v1n who’s everyone?
Caleb thank you for speaking my mind. I agree with all of your frustrations. GIVE EMMETT JOHNSON THE BALL!
We need to see more emmit Johnson and barney jr.
the offense did enough to win, but it could have been better. we're showing a disturbing trend of leaving easy points on the board. We left easy points on the board against CU, UNI, and Illinois. I think the whole team is going to bounce back, and perform very well against Purdue! I'm going expecting Nebraska to score 40+pts.
Volleyball team lost to team they were favored to beat. They shook off loss, came back, & swept Stanford. Now it's football team's chance to do same thing. GBR!

I feel exactly like Caleb
Tough game vs ILL, let’s bounce back and get 1-0 vs Purdue this weekend. GBR 35-10
Do you have new season win/loss predictions?
Nebraska causes itself a lot of problems with the offseason hype and expectations. Your media and a good chunk of the fan base has no concept of reality when it comes to what it takes to win in this conference.

They ran the same bootleg three times and we didn't have an answer for it. Stupid!!! That is a definitely coaching issue
Tell it how it is CALEB!!!!
Caleb tells it like it is bro _ I hope someone is listening who can influence some of these decisions
49-0. GBR Bounce back game
I’m a Caleb fan!! Wohoo!! Does he have eligibility left? With that passion, maybe he can be in the Special Team. He’ll go berserk out there. 😊👍🏼👍🏼
42-28
Wow Caleb how do you really feel? 😂😂

The defense look as different as night and day when they played Colorado and when they played Illinois .
We will be lucky to get to 5-7 if they keep playing like that. An average Illinois team, crazy how far we have fallen
Average Illinois team? Are you sure WE aren't average and overhyped?
Go Purdue
Unl is a joke...good, bad or ugly, unl is a joke
Prediction, sadly more of the same. take Purdue and the +10 and take the under. The hurricane should make the weather bad with a half full stadium. GBR

I thought that the game plan in general was way too conservative.

I still think "bend don't break" is just a recipe for losing the field position game in the B1G. "Bend don't break" is copium.
37 - 27 - Nebraska!

2 mins in and already turning off another whiney crybaby episode.
a little negative, bit too much ranting. Wayyy better than last year. Rants s/be limited. not helpful.
I only watch for the Caleb rants
Awesome podcast boys!!! Our dbs or the scheme why were their receivers so wide open?
