    So far I've made two cardstock models for the HO railroad. They ended up just as tedious to construct as any other model. I had to learn all about relief with windows and doors as well as for corners etc. I did the same general store as you have done except mine is in HO scale. I also added the front porch with support posts for the porch roof. I did a lot of relief work with the windows and doors & made individual shingles for the roof. Cheers from an old retired guy in eastern TN

      Rusty, many thanks for sharing your experiences... we share the same roller-coaster of emotions! LOL. I applaud your bravery in tackling HO scale with cardstock, not an easy task. While I enjoy practicing / improving my manual cutting skills with an #11 blade, the past 6 months I've been learning to use a cutting machine. I have both a used Cameo 1 and a new Cameo 4. Amazingly it does a fantastic job even with window details where the mullins are .0625" (1/16") wide. If your on FaceBook, I've started a group that you are welcome to join and post comments and your photos to share your experiences! Here's the link: facebook.com/groups/cardstockmodeling. All the best, Sam

    The variety of subjects available in card models is huge. Plus with digital model files you can rescale, repaint etc. Plus if you mess up just print another sheet.

    Nice work!! I have similar limitations because of my age (not very mobile anymore) and lack of space and tools. Fortunately, paper and cardboard have always been my favorite modeling materials.It's inspiring to see what others accomplish.

    Thanks for the suggestions and introduction to cardstock modeling, which I didn't know was a thing. I used to create paper castles and felt a hankering to get back into it--only this time I want to make them more realistic and less fantastical. Your video has given me some ideas about heading in this new direction.

    I built a lot of cardstock models. The great thing about them is you can have unique buildings on your layout.
    I also scratch build with wood. I will have few plastic buildings on my layout.

    I have been working on card stock for the past year, larger scale is pretty easy, but I work with N scale, 1:160 , but the cost of models to card stock is a big difference.

    Enjoyed your videos, wondering if in your journey in papercraft you ever came across a Russian magazine called MODELIK, it deals with card model - Papercraft. I found it on the Internet Archive websit, a great site in itself to discover all sorts of things. Who would of thought that there would be a magazine dedicated to such a hobby.

      Hey Barrie, many thanks for watching the videos! MODELIK is a new one to me, must check it out... tks :) I have had fun visiting a site in Brazil, that's run by a nice lady that collects and also designs various paper craft items from structures to dioramas... Be prepared to savor visiting her site and if you feel moved download and make a donation. She's a great contributor to the craft! Her site is: PaperMau link: papermau.blogspot.com/

    Any Z Scale kits?

    • @ModelRailroadCardStock
      @ModelRailroadCardStock  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jay, yes you can convert (meaning reduce the print size down to Z scale). If the kit is in O scale, print at 23% to convert to Z. So any Clever Models kits can be reduced to Z scale. Here are 2 links: 1st a discussion on Z scale conversion: clevermodels.squarespace.com/discussion/post/2440671. And 2nd a photo of that kit "The Bruce Hotel" in Z scale: www.dropbox.com/s/cz10u101i7rdhr6/11%2022%20hotel%20bruce%20side%20A.jpg?dl=0
      Lastly here's the link to the Clever Models site "Freebie" downloads. Suggest you download the item and try it: This is the item: H) O Scale Silver City Tool House Kit.

      Sam
