Had the passenger side mirror replaced today on my 2016 Civic ex-t. Body shop said that I would have to take it to Honda to calibrate, went over there, service manager said it would be $250.00 " pretty complicated", made the appt. Came home looked on You Tube, found your video, printed out the dots, was able to get to the correct screen on the second try, had the wife hold the paper and after about 25 tries (under 15 minutes) got it calibrated and it works. THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You just saved me $450. Body shop was going to charge me THAT MUCH to calibrate the new mirror, which was almost more than the mirror itself cost. After watching this video, I downloaded the target, went out in the driveway and did it myself in 15 minutes. THANKS.
Thank you - you saved us so much money! We bought our 17-year-old a 2017 Honda Civic Touring and the LaneWatch camera wasn't working. I printed your template and the two of us followed your instructions and did it! We had to try several times to get the position of the target right. We needed to be in line with where the front and back doors meet, and a bit further away from the car than I thought. It was a great lesson for my 17-year-old daughter!
THANK YOU for posting this video!!! Honda was gonna charge me $300 for 3 hours to do this. I followed your video and did it in the driveway in under 20 mins!! Can't thank you enough!!
Thanks man, this is exactly what I was looking for. I messed up my camera playing around with the self diagnostics and have been looking for the target to fix it. I really appreciate your taking time to post this video.
Bro, I know your video was years ago. Just want to say thank you! This help me out on my Honda Pilot. Got it on the first try! Simple instructions and I just also printed one from online on a sheet of paper and it works perfectly! 🙌
THIS WORKED FOR ME! THANK YOU for the idea- I ran out of printer ink, so I opened a photo of the calibration tool and zoomed in on the size on the screen so that I could trace it onto a regular sheet of printer paper. I used black Gaffer Tape to cut out the border and six circles and placed them in the correct place based on what I traced from my computer screen. I am sure Duct Tape would work too. It failed the first try, but I just had to adjust placement of the paper near the car a couple times and it worked!
Thank you for posting this template. I had a small body shop, new to me, replace my mirror and when I went to use check the functionality, of course it failed. I the body shop of course had the attitude of "not my job, I don't have that software" etca.. I called Honda and it was $160 to "program". Obviously this works, for me using a 8X12 letter paper I had to line the template up to just about my drivers door/body seem and a little lower than the windows. This was for a 2016 Honda Accord Sedan. Best of luck to everyone. I should have just bought the mirror myself and replaced.
Thankfully I work at a gas station where i can use a pole and dont need a tripod. Worked fine and saved me hundreds. Like so many, I too was playing around with the Aiming. Saved the day and got it where I wanted it so I could see more of the road.
Thank you for this video! I have a 2016 Honda Civic EX-T and my husband and I were able to do this in less 15 mins and saved $250 the dealership wanted to charge me. Thank you so much!
Dude I have a 2015 civic si - had to pay like $600 for the brand new side mirror assembly and they wanted to charge me the same amount to install and calibrate it I'm kind of tempted to just do it myself now! I'm not the handiest so I've had some apprehension, but the TH-cam videos I've seen make this seem straightforward enough
@@amberrose1711 I wound up replacing it myself! There's another great video on here for swapping it out. I was also able to calibrate it with this video of a similar one. Took a couple hours cause I was working very slow and cautiously lol but it's an easy enough job I do need to open the door back up though, I think I put some wire in the way of the window now it won't go down all the way haha But definitely doable ! Just work at a comfortable pace and make sure you take pics of screws etc before you take em off so you know how everything goes back together
I tried this and it does work so far as the calibration system will see the target and aim the camera to what it sees. My experience, however, is that a letter-sized sheet of paper must be placed so close to the mirror that the position the system crops the camera image to is in no way accurate. Upon calibrating my vehicle per these instructions, the red lines do not line up with neighboring vehicles realistically. For the example, the red line indicating the rear of my vehicle is actually set up about four feet towards the front of the car. I think the best bet is to make a calibration target on a board that meets the same dimensions as the official Honda target, which I’ve seen listed as 36” x 48” and position it in the spot Honda recommends, which can be easily found with a Google search. This placement and target size gives the aiming program the proper perspective to correctly aim the camera and align the guides. Using a letter-sized sheet and eyeballing it just places a target in an area that tricks the software into thinking the target is properly placed. If you’ve tried this, please get some idea of how close neighboring vehicles are to your vehicle, how they are actually oriented in the real space around your car in relation to the lines on the screen. You may have gotten lucky and lined them up out of dumb-luck, but, you may also be driving with a false sense of security too.
Outstanding step by step. Thank you! The only thing I’d like to add is that the method to get into diagnostic mode is very finicky If it does not work right away lift your fingers and try again and again.
I have Honda CIVC 2016. The aiming keeps failing. I have moved the six dot target almost 100 times and it keeps failing. Is there a published measurement on how far or high the target needs to be? When readjusting, do you move the target in one inch increment or larger increments? Thanks

Hey Nathan. Im not completely sure how to calibrate the lane assist camera, I would assume it would be a silmilar process. Be aware that if you calibrate the lane assist cameras and sensors, they will have to be precise. Targetting the LaneWatch is far less precise. Thanks

As someone who does calibrations every day professionally, yes this does work, but it's absolutely the wrong way to do it. There are case studies that show that even though it passes, the camera is not aimed correctly and doesn't show the area accurately.
Sorry to inform all of you watching this video. Calibrating Lane Watch or any other Calibration on today's vehicles take precise placement of targets. ALL Vehicle Manufactures have specifications down to 1mm of target placement and step number one is on flat ground inside with no sun light or shadows. What everybody needs to understand is YES you can calibrate the mirror they way this guy did and the vehicle computer will give you a pass. That does not mean its calibrated correctly, it only means that its calibrated to the location of the target placement. If the target placement is wrong, then the calibration is wrong. To properly calibrate today's vehicles takes several thousand square feet of floor space and some very expensive equipment. Remember one thing, You paid for these feature when you purchased the vehicle. Why don't you want them working correctly now?
There are many legal factors with these ADAS systems, I would try to have this done per the OEM service information, with the correct tool, the factory target is much larger. Hey L1, I assume you guys sell these calibrations. Nonetheless, I understand your point, however it would be hard to believe that if even if you incorrectly calibrated the lane watch and then sold your car to someone who decided to solely rely on using the precision of the little lines on the display when making a lane change or turn that endangered a cyclist or other motorist in the lane to your right, would be able to have you in legal trouble because you calibrated it incorrectly. It's so hard to see and decifer the lines that correspond to a certain distance that it really doesn't have much impact on any driving decisions. I did look up "john eagle collision" and found an article about them being sued for a 2010 Fit (that doesnt even have Lanewatch) that they improperly repaired by attaching the roof with glue instead on bolts or something? I hate when people tell me how to do stuff on my channel, but trutst me I do this for a living, I'm just giving you the info from a proffesionals stand point, we charge this much because the target and stand cost $400 ( the correct sized target is 31.5 inches by 49.25 inches) and it takes about 1.5 hours to setup the area and make all the measurements for exact placement based on the service info, then most of the time the mirror is mounted off and the manual adjustment of the camera is also required.
@@L1Training I understand what you're saying and it does take a lot more work and the correct target & stand to get it to be completely perfect. Just a question, how does the lane keep sysyem work off the LW, I was pretty sure it used the cameras above the windshield.
