I appreciate you showing both of you being reasonable and stopping when you thought it wasn’t safe enough. Too many push through anyways and end up regretting it
Your videos never fail to inspire and consistently strike poignant chords in my memory. I think you should be appointed "Special Ambassador of Natural Wander and Wonder ". I will be chasing these experiences as long as these legs carry me. Keep living the dream. AJS
Awesome video Tristan! What an amazing place! I thoroughly enjoyed the adventures we had .... and next time, I’ll try to meet you closer to your neck of the woods😀👍. Hope you guys are doing well! Joe
My favorite part was where you decided not to die. LOL. Seriously, looks like it was a great area even without getting to the ruins. Thanks for the video.
Wow! I definitely want to see this one in person! Stunning! It's that Joe! Very cool! The builder of your awesome cabinet! As you can tell, I'm watching older videos 😅
The views were outstanding. Favorites: - you guys deciding not to risk it. You gotta know when to say when. - all those saguaros - the morning fog and low clouds in the early minutes of the video. I plan to go back and re-watch those. :) - your genuine excitement to hike with Joe. I gotta check out his channel now. :)
Absolutely loved this episode, thoroughly entertaining. Enjoyed seeing details of driving in, the stunningly spectacular scenery of that hike, the cool climb-y bits of the hike, the interaction with Joe, and the honest sharing of the trepidation over continuing past that difficult spot. Bummer about not getting to the ruins, but still looked like a great day out. I've been out on a couple of trips that included a few other well-established TH-camrs, and sometimes I have to laugh at the group of us hovering around filming b-roll, talking at our cameras, and the herd of fuzzy microphones lurking around camp. :-) Looking forward to seeing more of this gorgeous area in the upcoming episodes!
Joe has some really great desert water harvesting diy style that I enjoyed (among many other vlogs). Neat collab. That is some beautiful scenery especially with the ephemeral streams flowing, rare sight. Looking forward to some other scenery as you vlog your way around. Be Well & Safe all
Loved seeing you again. I think many of us are feeling trapped, being home bound during this pandemic. Your vids help us feel free again. I hope you have more saved up till you can get back on the road.
beautiful canyon, thanks for sharing. When I found out you had your drone along I thought: you could have done a little recon with the drone at least, see what was ahead. As far as turning back, it turned out you weren't adequately prepared, that happens sometimes, go back when it is dry or with the right climbing gear. Thanks Tristan.
I have always known how smart you are, Tristan...and you just showed me again as you made a smart decision! Wow! love your new car storage piece....how nice of Joe to make it! BTW, I love the cargo hammock I got from you (Sheila)....love your vids, Tristan 👍🏻
Another amazing trip. Could tell by the smile on your face that you really enjoyed the collaboration. Hope you know how fortunate you are to have all this grandeur practically out your back door...thanks!
My favorite part was when you introduced Joe and that you would be hiking together and the huge smile on your face!! You always say you like to be alone. I think not.. awesome video.
Wow that's a beautiful canyon! A long time ago I read a lot of louise lamour books. One time I read that his stories are non fiction but all the geographic locations in them are true a I imagine this place you were heading to as one of them ... no other way to explain other than right out of a book lol! My best to you and yours during this super weird time..thank you for sharing your adventures!
Great vid you both, yea even on film it looked dodgy to climb, best be safe than injured in the sticks. I'm amazed at the amount of indigenous ruins there are. obviously lots of history that numptys like me don't realize. Great stuff I'm gonna read up on it now :)
Hi Tristan! Still binge watching some of your videos. Nice waterfall ..actually looks like some Pa. Waterfalls except for flora. In one video (the one you hit a deer), I wanted to tell you the time I hit one. It was in 1997 on a trip with my long time friend Joe. Drove my Jeep Cherokee from Pa to New Mexico & Texas; did many great things (White Sands, Carlsbad cavern, Big Bend etc). While on the way to Marfa a mule deer ran headlong into the driver's side on my Jeep & bounced back off road...not too much damage & everyone was OK, except for the deer. By the way, saw plenty of Marfa mystery lights; really weird & unexplainable but definitely not reflections from headlights. Could even see desert floor under some of the balls of light! Three yrs ago, while driving Hell's backbone from Boulder to the bridge, had another "close encounter." Had a rental (Nissan Rouge) and kept going by white pickup trucks going opposite direction...slowed down while I saw a couple of deer on my right when one suddenly bolted, went to front of me, jumped right over the hood of an oncoming truck, missing the windshield by inches! Keep your adventures coming; they really help during this pandemic.
Live to climb another day, and another. I think responsibility for others, and certainly age, tends to make you deliberate a bit more on risk. That was a beautiful area!
Great video, Tristan. You guys made the right decision. You can always come back. The Native Americans who built that not only picked a rugged and remote location, but building it was a lot of work. It would have been a tough place to eke out a living, but I doubt if they were bothered by marauding enemy tribes very often. If they ever were, I think they had a good fortress. You're not far from the historic and scenic Apache Trail. It's worth checking out at least once. Be safe in these strange and difficult times.
Tristan, in that I always look forward to your NEXT adventure, my favorite part in this one is when you and Joe, decided to call it. Would prefer you both live for another day.... Thanks.
Funny, I have the suspicion that had you been alone, you would have dared to make your way beyond the falls to the ruins, but, sensing Joe's very real apprehension and being the gentleman that you are, you feigned a reluctance to push on. Tristan, you have a healthy ego. And don't you go trying to tell me there's no way you would have gone on.
Good call. Rational situational awareness will save your life. Joe should know all about that as a firefighter. What a fantastic spot. Any spot along there looks like a nice place to linger.
Beautiful area of AZ. Don't get there much, really out of the way. Thanks for doing what you do! Wish I could hike like you do but time and joint replacements have taken care of that for me.
Damn, I was trying to hit up this place last month but cherry creek was flowing at 480CFS so no way we could cross it. Thanks for letting me experience it anywas
Fantastic call... something I couldn’t do. I was sure the first couple of minutes were filmed in New Hampshire😀. Once again thank you for sharing. These four walls are beginning to close in on me...yikes
Thoroughly enjoy your adventures. I appreciate your logical reasoning skills. I today's age, a lot of "thrill seekers" are so consumed with "extreme" experiences that they make poor decisions that affect their safety. Good to see you guys make the wise choice. How is the Covid-19 virus affecting your travels and adventures?
I discovered your channel about a month ago and I love it, but I wish there was a way to easily watch them in chronological order. Like, I wish they were numbered, or something. Is there a way to put them in order from first to last?
Wise decision Tristin, there is always another day, another trip and another adventure to be had....as long as you're in one piece. Hey check out Dana Hollister on TH-cam he visits a lot of ruins in your area, he's an expert on the Cedar Mesa area.
I have some pictures of the Sierra Ancha ruin that is up that canyon if you are interested, they are on a blog post of a hike with my friend Whazoo at outindewoods.blogspot.com/2009/05/hiking-with-whazoo-in-arizona.html
Thanks for watching! Be sure to check out Joe's channel here: th-cam.com/users/homesteadonomics
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite TH-cam channels. Great content as always!
I appreciate you showing both of you being reasonable and stopping when you thought it wasn’t safe enough. Too many push through anyways and end up regretting it

That's a title I'd gladly accept!
Awesome video Tristan! What an amazing place! I thoroughly enjoyed the adventures we had .... and next time, I’ll try to meet you closer to your neck of the woods😀👍. Hope you guys are doing well!
Joe
Thanks Joe! It was a really fun day, wasn't it? And yep, we're doing about as well as can be expected under the circumstances. Can't complain.
Gorgeous scenery -- and you two made the right decision by turning back!
My favorite part was where you decided not to die. LOL. Seriously, looks like it was a great area even without getting to the ruins. Thanks for the video.
Gorgeous scenery as always, Tristan. Thanks for letting us live vicariously through you!!
What a wonderful surprise hiking with mr. Jo. Glad you two thought out the rest of that hike. Thank you for your videos
Great hike. Smart move turning around.
Wonderful watching glad you had a buddy along, hope to see more of you two exploring
This was special, slightly different from your usual work. Enjoyed it a lot, thanks for taking us on the journey with you.
That canyon looks amazing!
Wow! I definitely want to see this one in person! Stunning! It's that Joe! Very cool! The builder of your awesome cabinet! As you can tell, I'm watching older videos 😅
Stunning. The storage unit Joe made you is very cool. Glad you guys erred on the side of safety.
The views were outstanding.

Lol thanks! Yeah, it was fun getting out and adventuring with another TH-camr. I think this was the first time I've ever done it. Had a great time!
Joe has some really great desert water harvesting diy style that I enjoyed (among many other vlogs). Neat collab. That is some beautiful scenery especially with the ephemeral streams flowing, rare sight. Looking forward to some other scenery as you vlog your way around.
Be Well & Safe all
THAT's where I've seen him! Yeah, I knew he looked/his channel sounded familiar, I've watched some of his water vids
Yep he does! I think that's probably how I first found him. Lots of great stuff on his channel. Thanks Ron!
The city slicker in says "oh, hell not." for that climb and the squeezing through.
Joe's video is how I found your channel. So glad you guys did a collaboration video! I really enjoy both your channels.
Loved seeing you again. I think many of us are feeling trapped, being home bound during this pandemic. Your vids help us feel free again. I hope you have more saved up till you can get back on the road.
Thanks Casey!

Thanks so much! I agree, Joe did a great job with the new storage unit. And I'm glad you like the Cargo Hammock!
Best ever access road video introduction! you should do more of this in future videos!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! The access road is not always as interesting/beautiful as this.
Another amazing trip. Could tell by the smile on your face that you really enjoyed the collaboration. Hope you know how fortunate you are to have all this grandeur practically out your back door...thanks!
Thanks, for showing us! I like the music too!
Joe the voice of reason! So glad you didn’t risk you lives on that rope
Stunning views
Thanks for watching!
My favorite part was when you introduced Joe and that you would be hiking together and the huge smile on your face!! You always say you like to be alone. I think not.. awesome video.
Fun adventure, great scenery and nice for you and Joe to have an enjoyable time together. Cool canyon and a wise decision to not trust that rope!
You look really joyfull to have another actual homan to share your adventure with. Cheers Mate.
Sometimes wisdom is the better part of valor. Beautiful country, thanks for the trip
WOW, exceptionally beautiful!! The views are stunning!! Right call for climbing further!! Wives think so, too!! Have a great time guys!! Jealous!! :)
Thanks Deb 😁

Mouth dropping scenery! Nice adventure 😷
Great video! I was thinking about rattlesnakes and spiders though. I wouldn't want to crawl.through the hole you did😆
Go back when it's dry if you want to try again. Awsome place!!
Mtn Lion territory, you should of flown the drone to see the ruins after all that effort. . Never the less thanks for taking us along.
It's a wilderness area, so it's illegal to fly drones there
Thank you for having us tag along with you on your adventures Tristan!
Thanks for tagging along!
Tristan, you did it again. Good video, excellent collaboration. Enjoyed it very much. You're videos always light the fire of adventure within. 😷👍

Always enjoyed your paintings..didn't you die?🤣
I am glad you made a wise decision. Really appreciate your videos!
Yea, I think that was a good decision, I wouldn't trust an old rope either. Too risky to the ruins, but definitely a great hike. Views looked awesome.
Definitely great views. Thanks RichieB!
Live to climb another day, and another. I think responsibility for others, and certainly age, tends to make you deliberate a bit more on risk.
That was a beautiful area!
Agreed. Thanks Don!

You and me both 😁
Thanks for broadening our horizons for future hikes. Stay safe out there.
Loved the water falls
Great video, you guys made the right choice! Love the drone shots, woulda been nice to fly IT up to the ruins!!!!
This is a wilderness area, so flying drones isn't allowed away from the road. Thanks Bob!
Funny, I have the suspicion that had you been alone, you would have dared to make your way beyond the falls to the ruins, but, sensing Joe's very real apprehension and being the gentleman that you are, you feigned a reluctance to push on. I found your channel through your appearance on Joe's channel a while back. I enjoy watching the two of you together.
Good call. Rational situational awareness will save your life. Joe should know all about that as a firefighter. What a fantastic spot. Any spot along there looks like a nice place to linger.
Yep, the whole area was just gorgeous. Thanks for watching, Jack!
Beautiful area of AZ. Don't get there much, really out of the way. Thanks for doing what you do! Wish I could hike like you do but time and joint replacements have taken care of that for me.
That waterfall would be great to photograph with a nice large format analog camera.
Thanks for a really nice video. Glad you made the smart decision- no point taking bid risks
Agreed. Thanks Robert!
You chose wisely! Great video, thanks for posting!
Wow guys, amazing scenery and nice Collab💜 The waterfall is pretty cool, spectacular vid!! Happy trails
Thanks!
I absolutely love this video!❤️
Love the waterfall
Me too!
Ah! beautiful falls, you should have droned the ruins! but you would have to carry it up there, so not easy!
Nice to see two of my favorite TH-cam people together!
Awesome! That is my kind of exploring, hiking, & scrambling! Best to be safe though. Amazing scenery. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Wise decision I'd say. Glad you guys had a good time!
I would love to check that canyon out someday.
Great team-up video, gents!
Dude. You guys are crazy! Y’all should shut that down! Too dangerous. It was spectacular up to that point. Be happy about that. 👍🏾
Yep, it was still a great hike! Thanks Jeffrey.
Damn, I was trying to hit up this place last month but cherry creek was flowing at 480CFS so no way we could cross it. Thanks for letting me experience it anywas
Better safe than sorry. Beautiful area
Indeed! Thanks for watching.
Damn, that is Jurassic looking.
Wow, very cool. Thank you and stay safe.
Fantastic call... something I couldn’t do. I was sure the first couple of minutes were filmed in New Hampshire😀. Once again thank you for sharing. These four walls are beginning to close in on me...yikes
That looks like an amazing place. Thanks.
Looks like a awesome area to checkout, would you happen to pass on the GPS cords...
Yes, they're in the description on every video 😁
yep - no point in taking chances . live to try again later . thanks
Around 5:45, climbing the rock next to the waterfall, who went back to fetch the camera that was filming that angle?

Thanks for the gps. Your camp is about 2 hours from me. How’d you like the Apache Trail?? I haven’t been on that in years...
I know it had to be precarious if you guys turned around and went back. Safety first..... good choice.
Are you having a problem with the sound for this video? I hear no voice.
There is no voice for the first minute. After that you should definitely be hearing voice.
Thanks!
Great video! I hope you make it to Salome creek!
Have you ever thought about coming to the East Coast?
Good call on not to continue. No need to take such risk. There will be another time. Good collaboration with Joe.
Yep, all the more reason to come back in the future. Thanks for watching!
Wise decision Tristin, there is always another day, another trip and another adventure to be had....as long as you're in one piece. Hey check out Dana Hollister on TH-cam he visits a lot of ruins in your area, he's an expert on the Cedar Mesa area.
Yep, I've seen several of his videos and have been in contact with him about potentially meeting up in the future 👍
To Tom: another Bob Ross, but I do artwork and got a big laugh...very much alive!
Where is this location?
Where is this place?
Very cool canyon, nonetheless.
Favorite parts of the video? Intro music and your decision not to continue the hike to the ruins!
I have some pictures of the Sierra Ancha ruin that is up that canyon if you are interested, they are on a blog post of a hike with my friend Whazoo at outindewoods.blogspot.com/2009/05/hiking-with-whazoo-in-arizona.html
