Ledisi played her in "Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story" (2022) and Danielle Brooks played her in "Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia" (2021). I LOVE Ledisi and she can SANG. But Ledisi interpreted the songs in her own style like Diana Ross did with Billie Holliday. However, Danielle Brooks ("Orange is the New Black" and Sophia in "Oprah Winfrey Presents: The Color Purple") came as close to sounding like Mahalia as anybody I've ever heard. You have to see the movie, if only to hear Danielle sing the songs.
