TLC needs to tell Kody that he won’t get paid if he won’t answer such simple questions or if he acts in a menacing way towards the interviewer.

I actually have a few suggestions on how TLC can address this in the tell alls. For starters what you suggested don't pay him. He's supposed to answer the questions and not "tell all" the lies and aisde from not paying him the could also cut his microphone if he's not going to answer the questions and he should be reminded that's what he's there to do. Not to grope the interviewer. Also threaten a spin off for Janelle and Christine and not to record Kody and Robyn anymore. Meri is just Meri and she seems to think that it's her against everyone else and while I feel bad for her sometimes it's nonsense like this that make it extremely hard to like her when she's bashing her fans for supporting her and getting snippy when she doesn't like people comments on Kody treating her like trash!
Idc what anyone says, Kody dangled reconciliation in Meri’s face as a punishment for her having an emotional affair. He exiled and sentenced her to watch him love & be a husband to the other wives knowing full well he didn’t want her any more. It was emotional revenge for his hurt ego. Imagine waiting around for years for a man to love you & then he “shoos”you away like a stray dog looking for food. The reason why he wasn’t mad about Meri leaving is because it was on his terms i.e. he squeezed every last drop of her dignity out of her. He’s mad that Christine left because SHE didn’t wait around & wasn’t interested in his validation. Christine wasn’t interested in reconciliation even if Kody wanted it. She was tired of being hurt and wasn’t going to suffer like Meri. Kody has a level of entitlement, “I don’t want you, but you should still want me”.

Meri was so cruel to Janelle in the early years, that Janelle moved to another state for two years, to avoid Meri's insilts, digs, and cruel, controlling behavior.
Meri was a very harsh disciplinarian to J's an Ch's kids. Maddie Brown Brush tweeted that Meri was a monster and abu$ive, and that she grew up in fear of Meri.
Then Meri carried out her sinister plan to bring Robyn into the family - BEHIND THE BACKS of Christine and Janelle - with an intent to hurt Christine, But that move wildly backfired on Meri, as she underestimated Robyn's ability to usurp all of her own power - which she did. Meri got outlpayed. Her nefarious plan backfired on her in ways she'd never imagined.
Yeah, Kody treated Meri horribly. But Meri did more than her share of hurtful actions.
Kody, Meri, and Robyn are a toxic trio, all of whom have contributed to the breakdown of their family.

Just my opinion but Meri finally decided to jump ship after Sundays Tell All. They haven't been "married" in any real capacity for years. Shes just finally accepting it and at a perfect time to distance herself from backlash against Kody and Robyn.
I think it's likely that in private Kody behaved a lot differently to Meri, not to mention Robyn stoking any hopes she had.

I often have to remind myself that sometimes it's their religion that keeps them there. Even Janelle said her religion requires her to leave that door open even if she doesn't want him to walk through it. I guess it's like Catholic guilt, in a way. Hard for me to wrap my mind around but I'm sure that's one reason why Meri stayed longer than anyone else would.

Here's what I think happened. Meri announced in the Tell-All that Kody decided the marriage was over. Kody looked bad and let Meri know he wasn't happy about that. So Kody told Meri to do this mutual announcement to try and save face.

If she gifted that money to Robyn then Robyn would be responsible for paying a gift tax on that money. Not doing it in the year's taxes when the gift occurred is technically tax fraud.

I would like TLC to hire a new host to ask the questions at the tell , like bring in the women who hosts the 90 day tell all shows.She doesn’t let those people off, several have pitched major fits & stormed off stage but as soon as they come back she will ask it again, that’s what we need for Sister Wives. The women generally answer but Kody frequently refuses!
Ugh, I just can't help but remember when Robyn was begging her to stay there with her knowing this was happening. The freaking manipulation and vindictiveness to beg Meri to stay with the two people that took everything from Meri is really disgusting. Not a big supporter of Meri now but just, yeah, just sick and sad.
It sounds like Kody had another temper tantrum behind the scenes and this is one last exercise of control for both of them.
This announcement is so stupid. They (Kody) wanted to wait until the end of season 17 to announce their dissolved relationship but we've all known for years now. Kody fell out of love & marriage with Meri during 2015, 2016, & 2017. By 2018, it was mostly a non-existent relationship with seldom interactions. That's where it's been. In 2020, both Robyn & Kody basically shunned Meri all together who lived alone. They honestly don't have much to do with eachother at all. It's been the least polygamist show for years now. That family culture grew up & moved out. It's looked different since Vegas.
I'm happy that Meri and Kody finally realize they're divorced, we've known it for years!!

First, Robyn's comment about treating Kody like your best "client" was weird. She never ceases to come off like she knows how to please her man and the other wives got fat and turned him off. What a horror show she is!
As I said in a previous comment, no one ever called or checked in on Meri during the height of the pandemic. That would have been enough for me to say, "We're divorced!" Also, right after her mother passed away, Kody told her to stay at the B&B in Utah-subtle hint, Meri?
TLC controls these folks and despite the fact that they've left the marriages, these women are not free until their contracts expire.
Fun fact, the last time robbing said that sucks was when Meri told her that the divorce was final.

So Meri has basically been pretending to be married and really pretending she wanted him back. I think she was being "nice" by not straight up saying they weren't together back when it happened.
I think Meri went along with this to appease Kody because she's seeing what he's saying about and doing to Janelle and Christine. You can tell she still loves him and my heart hurts for her.

After the catfishing incident, Meri has been walking around with her tail between her legs. She is so desperate to redeem herself with Kody and the public. I get the feeling that no one truly knows who Meri really is, especially Meri.
I think Meri just displayed the nastiness toward others that Christine has been talking about. Instead of a "divorce" announcement, it was just an attack on a respected magazine and on people who have given a sh_t about her all of these years. Like you said, if she doesn't want people to support her then get out of social media and public view. And, Kodi is not deserving her attack on her now-ex-fans. He has been terrible to her and others so she needs to quit coddling him. He will never learn and improve. As a teacher, my policy was to NOT reward bad behavior. It worked and I got better behavior out of kids if they knew that they would be rewarded for it- with praise, with a pass to a place they request in school, extra credit, attention, ... and this was middle school and high school.
When she says “my truth will be told” makes me think she is working on a book deal….
