- Another look at handling the steep bits - this time with a modified John Deere 1580 Terrain Cut with 72" fastback mowing deck.
Some of these slopes exceed 40 degrees incline. Setup of dual wheels' pressure is important, plus selective use of differential braking and diff lock makes the job achievable.
We would not attempt this slope when wet, as traction is marginal on these types of grasses - also - there's no escape route.
Foreground engine noise is the camera operator's machine.
Don't attempt these type of inclines unless you are very familiar with your machine and have a lot of experience. This operator has well in excess of 30,000 hours operating time - old fart!

This is a fantastic set up ..
Imo probably the very best in the world. 😃
Thanks!
Question for the OP. How did you add dual wheels to the 1580 Terraincut Mower? Reason I'm asking is considering adding dual wheels to a 1585 Terraincut w/ 72 inch deck as well.
That's a steep hill!
Sure is - your machinery would handle it nicely too, I'm sure.
It's not that steep.
These mower's can go way more than this !
So can a ventrac ofc
Just say 😎
Hi Ventrac! We now have 2 of your wonderful mowers - (as well as the John Deere’s). The Ventracs now do most of our hill work.
Will you please post what hardware did you use for that machine ? I have a 1585 and have to use the narrow wheels to do it. Thanks
My dealer organised these duals for me when we purchased. They are "Clic" design.
