Maybe make the wheels turn some more angle if that's possible in automation might help, idk

There's been a ton of work on tire model exporting in the last couple months, another big change should be in the next patch, so you might want to try to re exporting after the next patch. Big focus has been on traction and especially how much grip there is with slip. Hopefully will help drift setups some!

my recommendations for learning to drift in with automation cars is to star with a low power low grip build, think stock miata on steelies or lightly modified 180sx or volvo 240. The response times will be less snappy giving you more time to control the oversteer.
The hard tire compound is probably similar to what they use on real race cars which means, despite the wheelspin they are too grippy, the grippier the tire the snnappier the transition between traction and spin, and back to catching traction. Id recommend only using sports compound or semi slicks.
For gearing, ideally you want to be up in second or third gear, occasionally fourth if your doing a fast corner. Higher gear means slower throttle response and more control
Keep an eye on the oversteer/understeer charts in automation, with almost every car build you want the end of that line in understeer. that goes for drift cars too. the S dot on that yellow line should be on or above the oversteer line if possible.
Also in the beam tuning menus there's a steering angle adjuster. don't max it out to start tho.
    longer wheelbases are smoother too
Building an awd drift car is fun too, but it doesn't train those good skills. But it is a lot easier to just jump into and scoot around without trying so hard. I mean the hoonicorn and hoonitruck were both awd mosnters.
ALSO: advanced awd transfer cases in front longitudinal engine layout have a rwd mode, so you can set up an awd and rwd build in one car. (it is different from 4x4 cause 4x4 is fixed ratios, you can adjust the awd torque split
I'm no pro, I'm still leaning myself, but this is what I've found that works, for me.
also try assetto corsa for drifting

Every time I tune a stock beam car, I can't help but find that it's easier to drift than 90% of the normal drift cars.

Literally happened in Forza. I do a rwd 600hp 2002 Acura RSX-S drift build, doesn't drift. I make a Hill climb AWD 1,500+hp Dodge Charger, it's the best drift build I've ever made.

Any LSD is good for drift. IRL Clutched/Clutched Race or Helical because Electric is too rare/expensive for most people to have, and Viscous is said to not lock as well as anything else. Though personally, I've seen Viscous work just fine, so...

Definitely need more steering angle, like 60 degrees+. That should be your first worry there. You probably shouldn't have the same camber front and rear, IDK though, It's never worked for me but it may just work for you. tune the rear suspension to be a bit softer than the front. And definitely very very definitely make sure you have the ackerman angle set to somewhere like 50% or more if you want transitions to me quick (That's only if ackerman angle is an option to change, and again, preference, some things may work for you but not for me and vice versa) Hope this helps a lil bit, cos this is how I tune my drift cars in most of my games

I always set up my Automation drift cars with AWD and fairly loose suspension. It's personal preference, but the characteristics of a NA I5 work best for me. In my opinion, AWD drift in Beam is much easier than RWD drift.

What this poor car needs the most is more steering angle. Automation really sucks for letting you set your own suspension and steering geometry.

Drifting in Beamng is awfully difficult because of the bad tire physics, but good luck on learning it!

Engine wise prefer a flat torque curve rather than peak horsepower, for learning a rb/jz would be ideal, or even a ls replica.
Chassis wise easier to control would be a ladder frame double wishbone front and solid rear or even trailing arms like bmw.
Suspension settings i strongly recommend the following:
    -camber between - 2 and - 5°
    -springs 280/260 f and r
    -dampers 2 / 1.6 f and r
    -sway bars 2600 /1800 f and r

ive been attempting to make a drift build for months but race intake so far seems to much but its about the power curve and anything over 450 is gonna spin its self out everytime i make a car almost drift when it comes to counter steering and keeping it drifting it centers itself off i think automation needs more updates or im a terrible builder .185 weight to power ratio is ideal for keeping your wheels sliding, the clutched lsd will help you hit manual locking the rear wheels when you clutch kick but as far as your wheels staying turning they lock back as soon as they can, i ususally use wet medium and sport cause your trying to substitute for first gears power and if you give 2nd all the traction you cant spin, and for more than 3 degrees of camber hit the settings button in trim fixtures and go to wheels you can do some insane wheel mods. basically drifting is impossible because the way the game detects steering is the is no center where you slightly control the loss of control for drifting, it thinks your eaither trying ot go left or right and even when you do hit a good entery keeping that entery without spinning out is impossibe the compact manifold with long tube or race headers does great for drifting

Btw good tip is to choose slick tires, enough powerful engine and geared diff. Then in beamng add steering angle to max.
