😂I thought it was just me and headrests on beds! Glad you feel the same 😂! (Oh and definitely don’t stop the innuendo just because of some fun sponge!)
Totally agree with you thinking on the room but it's the location that wins. For a worrier like me, just being able to walk across the road to the hotel is amazing. Having said that we've also used public buses for other hotels and it's been fine. Foodwise, we'd be travelling from Bristol usually via Reading, we bring drinks with us and we'd probably grab a pasty on the way. You can take the girl out of Cornwall......
When we fly from Gatwick…think it’s from the south terminal …we always stayed at the Sandman Hotel chain…but last time we went out for dinner pre night cruise at a place called THE PARSONS PIG PUB…very popular and lively……did a lush curry!…and nice bottle of Shiraz….little did we know that a Premier Inn is sited right next door …wish we had stayed there instead x
Love the vlog! You always show what people need to know. The first time I ever heard of a goujon was at a Premier Inn in Stoke-on-Trent. I asked the server what a goujon was and she looked at me like I was from another planet.
Stayed here a number of times. Spot on with the lifts and the Mezzanine Level does mess things up, trouble is almost every guest is travelling with large suitcases which you just cannot lug up the stairs, always an issue in the morning as to how long is the wait? Have to say, never had that long a wait at the bar and it is super convenient for the North Terminal and even the South on the monorail. It's just nice to know you are on site and no transfers, or traffic issues in the morning. The Sofitel/Hilton should be better but they are ££'s more normally, booked far enough ahead you can get this one for £70+.
Agreed and the rooms are on the small side there and it's a bit of a rabbit warren! My other big gripe with PI is how high the baths are too step in for a shower. In the USA they sink the baths into the floor so the step in is not high at all, I'm always concerned that it's so easy to slip up and though it's not yet an issue for us and you guys I would imagine many older guests really struggling with getting in and out. Enjoy.
Nice vlog Jamie,I quite like Premier Inns, stayed in a few over time..Also I'm looking forward to your Marella Voyager vlogs and reviews,as I've just been on the Discovery 2,and I was very disappointed with our deluxe balcony cabin,It was in need of a good refurbishment, because of all the problems we had with it...
My friend and I stayed at the Kings Cross Premier Inn in September ordering dinner and breakfast in advance and seemingly paying less than menu prices. The food was vey good at both meals and dinner had an included glass of palatable wine. The room was ok but a odiferous whiff of drains in the bathroom. I think rooms need some upgrades but I would stay there again.
Agree with Alan 80, the Bar & Block are excellent- brilliant steaks -we stay in the P Inn at Aldgate always when in London and has a B& Block, Breakfast there though is ALWAYS at NORA a 5 min walk
Enjoyed this Jamie! You always make me smile. Hope you have a fab cruise and I defo will be with you all the way! (Till Friday when I go on my own cruise) I will have wi-fi so maybe see you on Azura!
Hi Jamie, another great Vlog. We stayed at the Sofitel in Sept and it was really good but pricier as you say. It's a bit of a captive audience type thing wherever you stay at Gatwick. Looking forward to the rest of this trip series as it's this ship we'll be off on next year. 😀
I like a Premier Inn. I stayed in Trowbridge recently on my way to Southampton. It was a lovely one, the staff were amazing. I bought the package, dinner and breakfast. I had Katsu curry, It was absolutely delicious. Breakfast was ok. I like a Greggs breakfast better. lol. That’s the only thing with an airport hotel, it’s so busy. It’s a pity your dinner was mixed. Hope Maffoo was ok after his detour.
Can't beat a Premier Inn room. I tend to stay in them most of the time. Go between the standard room and the premier plus rooms. When in Manchester with Daniel for an event the mirror on the wardrobe is perfect for getting ready because of the length of it. Must admit I've noticed the Thyme Restaurants have gone down hill since covid but must admit the newer premier Restaurants which are the Bar and block Steakhouse and the newer The Social Restaurants are absolutely brilliant. Infact me and Daniel are stopping at the Premier Inn at Hampstead in London just next to Belsize Park tube station. Its just been renovated and its restaurant use to be a Thyme but is now The Social. We are there from 6th November for the week.
We stayed at the Hilton at Gatwick earlier this year. I’m pretty sure our room wasn’t much more than you paid. Join the Hilton Honours club you get a discount on room prices. We always buy a bottle of wine and a salad at Marks. I object to paying overinflated prices at these hotels. But thank you for your research. Enjoy the cruise.
I had a steak at Thyme a couple of years ago they didn’t bring my peppercorn sauce until 10 minutes after finishing my steak, despite being reminded twice that it was missing. Never again!

Lol 😂
I shall continue being naughty 👿 especially as it’s Halloween 🎃

Oh we stayed there some years ago! Just not in the right location for us

Yea I’ve got £70 deals here before too. It’s super convenient. It’s never a wholly satisfying experience for us though.

Oh I’m saddened to hear that about your cabin!

I do like the Sofitel! Went with the cheapest this time though 😩
Great vlog Jamie. Amanda has been looking a hotels at Gatwick. This was one of them. You have convinced her 2 book the Hilton😊
Hilton is far better lol I think I blogged that one recently
@ Travel Blog Jamie great blog and interesting as booked there for January 24 may cancel it now
I think for the right price it’s worth it for convenience but we’d rather be at the Sofitel if affordable

The food has not been good the last 2 visits unfortunately

Thanks for your comments and feedback, Alan!
We've just booked this Premier Inn for next summer pre Azura cruise, think I'll be taking a picnic dinner!!! Room looks nice though 😄
The rooms have had the necessary upgrades and v comfy ❤️ Picnic might be for the best lol 😆

I’m already a member - the Hilton was extortionate that night unfortunately
You are so naughty with your double entendres- but funneee!
I don’t know whaaaaat you are referring to I’m sure
It’s nearly cruiiiiise tiiiiiiime!!
I find that the smaller premier Inn behind the big one, is usually cheaper and more personable
True - just wanted an easy walk to the terminal for our early flight and without getting rained on lol
I am your new subscriber. ✨️
Welcome onboard

Standard lol 😆
When is this coming out
Next Sunday 29th ???
If you have a look under the title I think it says 29 October?
Like the hotels not the restaurants! 😂
Agreed!
I like your blogs in the main, however the innuendo’s are over kill at times.
That’s tough I’m afraid
No need to be afraid l’m a gentle soul that looks forward to your blogs.
@@jimmartin5436 not afraid Jim, just not changing myself for anyone
Ooh nobody wants dry balls do they Jamie 😂😂😂
I’m not sure - would you want them?
