Sorry, I have been busy this week and just saw this last night. First video of the weekend for me! Two thoughts on the smoke: 1-Oil residue on the manifold. 2-Possibly from the electronic fuel pump pushing too much pressure and forcing a rich condition. 3(bonus)-Combo of the two. Remember: anything smoking in the engine bay is usually from things outside the engine. Often from things that should be *inside* the engine. That coolant wasn't too bad, lol. When I did my first flush of my 10 year old Gremlin it was pure rust colored. A reference for you: AMC and Jeep. That vehicle has the same engine as the Jeep of a similar year. There are many parts in common. And Jeeps are way better documented, so judiciously use Jeep resources as necessary.
That's much appreciated. That makes sense about using jeep documentation for finding solutions. The smoking I saw for the car, was smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe. The time before I did the oil change, I just started it off camera and it was smoking out the exhaust very badly. The oil change did help greatly. It seems fine now tho.
@@robbieshobbies93 The straight six is an amazingly durable engine. Lots of torque and very forgiving. Also: There are guides for swapping in Motorcraft 2 barrel carbs if you want to free up some power. And another also: The bracket you asked about is for the power steering pump. If I remember correctly, both were available at that time. A previous owner may have swapped in a manual steering gear when the power unit gave issues.
Oh wow, cool! I felt he might have switched it to manual steering because that is the only thing that makes the most sense to me. The bracket does look like a power steering bracket.
Haven't seen that brand oil filter before. Probably a regional or store brand. But the number is a Fram filter number. So it's likely made by Fram. The Wix filter you're using is a much better filter.
The bigest problem With most AMC's is the leaking valve cover gasket. Common in ALL I-6 engines with this problem. I may even have the service manual for that engine.
That's good to know. I think the motor would clean up if I spent the time. But if the i6 is not healthy and if it needs a lot of work, I'm probably doing an engine swap instead.
Good job man glad to see her alive and well again 👏👏👏
Thank you. I appreciate that.

Good.job😄👍👏👏👏cool. Car 😍
Thank you!
That bracket is probably for the missing air pump.
Edit:
You should already have fuel return line. My 75 does.
That's very possible. I have no idea what an air pump even looks like. That probably is what it was for. Thanks!
Some new pumps don't have a return line

That's pretty cool to see it was the same as Fram's part number. It could have been one they made. Thank you for sharing that.

1 barrel or two? What carb also
1 barrel. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it's a Carter Carburetor.
