Making the choice to upgrade is always an exciting time tinged with sadness. I think that there are many benefits to having a modern camera but as you have probably realised by now, I like a lot of the old stock. Cheers

@@steveneugene339 Yes, it is a nice camera to hold, especially if you have big hands. I gave my one to my father after he found it much easier to handle compared to smaller form cameras. Buy some rechargeable batteries for this camera. It eats through batteries quite quickly, so have rechargeable will help a lot. Regarding the memory card, it seems to prefer older memory cards, (I had the odd issue with card reading issues) but a standard SD card is also fine. Buy a few cheap ones from eBay or flea markets and see which one works the best.
Seeing 2020 and 4 years ago isnt right i swear it was just yesterday. Ive been looking around and you can find bridge cameras from like 15 years ago for like 30 USD used, and honestly i might buy one because i love the like grunge amateur look they have thats really hard to recreate on modern phones

I'm viewing Powershot videos because I'm trying once again to understand how to employ the inherent capabilities. I'm an old guy with a bunch of mechanical Canon gear i bought and used enthusiastically back in the '70s. My problem is mostly not understanding the digital interface and terminology that seems born into younger people.

If you have the instruction manual, start from there in automatic shooting mode and take your time. (If you don’t have the manual like me, you can download it online. Just type in the make and model and type instructions) I am still a novice myself, so I am learning everyday. (On a side note, I am trying to teach myself how to make music on my computer and I have no idea what I am doing. But things are becoming more clear to me every time I try). Mark Koons You are welcome, we all need some encouragement from time to time. Ahh okay, that part of the States. (I was in New York / Utah last October). I have seen this problem so many times. The older generation are often left behind due to technology changing so quickly. With the right support and guidance, I am certain you would be fine, but I recognise that gaining that knowledge and then having the confidence to apply it is often the problem. Maybe have a look online for local courses. We have them here in the UK. Or see if there is a small photography community in your area. There always tends to be. I have always found most photographers to be gentle creatures.
Just picked up one , wanted a camera that was digital and felt like a camera , not a clue on digital or functions ,p/u for 80 dollars Canadian feels and appears to work . The learning curve looks like its going to be a bit of a challenge for me A bit older i am but looks like i can grasp it in time .Your video helps a lot due to im very visual in learning ,thank you .

In the end I would just press the menu button to bypass the screen. However, I would set it when I wanted the date to be captured in the image data. Sorry I can’t be of further help with this.
@@ReelFilm2016 thank you but I managed to understand that there is an additional CR1220 battery to replace, it is found by removing the AA batteries and extracting the battery holder by inserting a nail under the central part of the edge of the battery holder. I hope it can be of help to you bye
I have a question, I have a camera that keeps flashes low battery even when new batteries are in. I am wondering what can I do and how much will it cost to get fix.
Alexis Marie Thanks for watching and commenting. I did have an issue with my Canon 1000 camera (video is on the channel) in regards to the battery. If I tried to shoot in very bright environments, the light meter would fail and the camera would shut down and the battery would indicate empty. The thing was, the battery was brand new and not empty. When I took some pictures in normal lighting conditions, the camera was fine. I have asked a few people about it and they think it was to do with the cameras metering and then way the camera draws power from the battery. If the fault continues on your camera, you may need to seek advice or get a replacement. Always check online forums for help and support.
I have a power shot sx1015 and I love it, but have not used it in a long time and now I cannot remember how to set it up or use many of the features. Can you help me, I am going on a tour to Israel and want to take a lot of pictures.

Also as the camera takes 4 AA batteries, it might be worth while buying some rechargeable batteries and a charger so you can take it with you. I would encourage you to leave it in automatic mode (unless you want to use manual) for shooting pictures and remind yourself how to record video. @@ruthcoffing8063 if it’s exactly the same camera, you need to look at the back of the camera. There are three buttons shaped like a crescent located at the top right of the camera. It’s the bottom of the three. There is a tiny trash icon.

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting. This camera has a built in microphone which does a reasonable job. I didn’t know it at the time, but there is also an option to reduce wind noise. Unfortunately, you can’t plug in an external mic. Hope that helps.
DrxpAholic YT As far as I understand and from looking at the instructions, you can’t connect any external mic to this camera but you can adjust the setting of the internal microphone. I found out after my shoot that it has a wind filter option which would have helped in my video 😀 You can also record voice notes without images which seems pointless. I can't see why not, but the quality of the video won't be able to compete with more up to date models. Also, it is worth noting that their is no jack for an external microphone. My advice would be to buy a slightly more modern camera which is better suited to vlogging if you are going to take it seriously.
Hello, thanks for your comment. No, it’s not designed to be used in that way. I mean, there might be some kind of work around for it but I doubt it. I've found on classified and it seems like some of the latest phones will do an equally good job.. Except for the zoom as far as image and sound quality..

However i am still not sure to buy it because it seems like a good camera, but not that much better then a recent cellular.. I would more then likely use it pluging the Zoom Q2n camera that I have strickly as an external Mic.. the Zoom does a very good job at audio but really sucks as far as image quality..
@@BedeLaplume Yes. Obviously, dependent on what you are looking for this camera might give you more in the way of control for things such as the iso, aperture and shutter. It’s a fun camera to play around with and I think the image quality still holds up. Anything that can take 10.0 mp Images is still fine. All depends on what you want to achieve. I gave this to my father as he has giant hands and can’t get on with the tiny compacts. He just uses it for this and that. Have a good day.

Hello, yeah this does seem to be a common problem. When I first started to use the camera, I was using a micro SD card inside the adaptor and I ran into the same problem. Fortunately, I managed to find an old SDHC memory card from at least ten years ago and that seemed to be fine. It’s always worth formatting the card following the options on the camera. Let me know how you get on.

Steffanie Wright It takes 4 double a batteries but this camera can eat up the power fairly quickly, I recommend buying a few packs of rechargeable batteries. I just use an old 4gb SD but it can take modern SD cards as well. Doesn’t really like micro SD cards in the converter. It’s a great little camera. I have seen them sell for up to £85 / $100. Happy shooting.
@@lanalovegood7211 Right okay. Well for example, I have a Canon HD camcorder which is about 5 years old and you can generally pick them up new from somewhere like Best Buy for around £250. I wouldn’t bother with anything 4K for the time being. The great majority of videos on my channel were filmed with that camcorder. ( Google Canon Legria Camcorder) Find your audience first, making sure your videos are clear with good audio and if you start to find that your subscribers are rising, maybe at that point you might want to start making more of an investment.

When I first started to use the camera, I was using a micro SD card inside the adaptor and I ran into the same problem. Fortunately, I managed to find an old SDHC memory card from at least ten years ago and that seemed to be fine.
It’s always worth formatting the card following the options on the camera.

H everyone so I just bought this today, for about 15 bucks. What kind of batteries and SD card does everyone use for this?
Steffanie Wright It takes 4 double a batteries but this camera can eat up the power fairly quickly, I recommend buying a few packs of rechargeable batteries. I just use an old 4gb SD but it can take modern SD cards as well. Doesn’t really like micro SD cards in the converter.
It’s a great little camera. I have seen them sell for up to £85 / $100. Happy shooting.
Can you plug a mic on top of it? Also can you hook it to a tripod?
No external mic option unfortunately but you can connect it to a tripod. Hope that helps

@@lanalovegood7211 Right okay. Well for example, I have a Canon HD camcorder which is about 5 years old and you can generally pick them up new from somewhere like Best Buy for around £250. I wouldn’t bother with anything 4K for the time being.
The great majority of videos on my channel were filmed with that camcorder. ( Google Canon Legria Camcorder)
Find your audience first, making sure your videos are clear with good audio and if you start to find that your subscribers are rising, maybe at that point you might want to start making more of an investment.

Got one since 2008. Very pleased to its quality, but the battery consumption is what gives it a big minus.
