For those who don't know, he was doing smack like this and misjudged his T-Rex 700E And the rotors split his head nearly in half. I believe he was performing a hurricane when he hit himself. It's so sad that in one split second, you can die before even seeing it coming. This is my warning to all hard core 3D heli pilots. 3D is amazing. I am not as good as you guys yet but I will one day. However, flying as close as you can to yourself or to others is far too risky. Your maneuvers are impressive, but it's not worth your life or someone else's. Please, fly safe. Your life and others are far more important than your helicopter. Anyway, that's my two cents. Awesome video. Fly hard, but fly safe. :)
+chrsmcwtrs chill out. traxxas was being respectful. he admits his own proficiency level. he said nothing ill to the skilled pilot. all he was saying is a word of caution, safety is always first. whether you have control or not mechanical failures can happen and in that eventually you should always have a buffer zone. that's all he was saying
I love the stunts, great! I just googled Roman Pirozek and found a photo after his accident. I won't put the link, because it's truly horrific. Not sure a titanium/carbon fiber helmet would be strong enough, and anyway if the rotor hit in the neck, or anywhere else... there is no going back. Imagine a military unit using these, against terrorists...

I know many will not agree with me, but I have never been impressed with this type of flying. This is not skill... It's reckless insanity. Imagine what could be the result (to himself or a spectator) if a servo lets go, a clevis break. or god forbid a blade letting go and flying off. Imagine the stresses on the components. Those blades are nothing more than Samurai swords at the ready to decapitate someone. I've been an RC plane pilot for years (just now getting into helis). When guys at my field (plane or heli) get into this extreme 3D flying I pack up the kids and head for home. Yeah it took hours of practice to get to this level of expertise as demonstrated in the video , but that is not flying, it's juggling. What pilots are doing when they fly like this is an egotistical display of "look at me". It's showing off at the expense of good sense and safety. I enjoy watching a pilot fly a plane or heli as they were meant to fly. Imagine being invited to a friends house to see his model train layout and he makes the engine do wheelies around the track. Not natural at all.
