Patients can have different symptoms as a result of their scoliosis. Scoliosis affects all age groups, from infants to the elderly but is most common in adolescents.
The most common type of scoliosis, both in adolescents and adults, is idiopathic scoliosis. But regardless of the type of scoliosis you have, understanding that scoliosis can affect the body structurally and lead to these kinds of problems.
    Posture deviation:
Uneven forces to the body as a result of asymmetric compression or gravitational forces throughout the spine resulting in a significant postural deviation which can be seen as unbalanced shoulders, unbalanced waist and hips, even balance or posture deviation from the side.
    Digestive issues:
Since scoliosis affects the length of the torso, it can also be connected to digestive issues, although the exact link has not been determined.
    Headaches and migraines:
Since a lack of spinal alignment can affect the neck leading to headaches and migraines
The number one reason leading to a scoliosis diagnosis in adolescents is postural changes either noticed by a parent, teacher or during a routine examination. as they do not commonly feel pain.
The most common symptom leading to an adult diagnosis of scoliosis is pain. It is the number one symptom seen in adults; since adults are no longer growing, the compression of gravity over time leads to the compression of the nerves and tissues around the spine, leading to pain.
Pain felt due to scoliosis does not relate directly to the size of the curvature. It is the amount the curve progresses as an adult that is the main indicator why someone would feel pain or not. The bigger the curve as an adult, the more likely and faster it is to progress. If adults hold their curve and don't allow it to progress in the adult stage, they are likely to mitigate the painful effects it could have.
One of the main factors that can affect or worsen the symptoms of scoliosis in patient age. The older you become, the more likely scoliosis is to worsen and cause more problems. Not only will the curve progress faster, but it can also cause more damage which leads to more pain and functional problems to the spine and well-being.
The type of scoliosis also plays an important factor, as well as curve location and severity. Pain is not always related to the size of the curve but to how much it progresses as an adult.
At Scoliosis Reduction Center, we offer proactive treatment models and encourage patients to treat scoliosis early in life and not let curves become bigger and worsen.

Hello Dr. Nalda and team... this episode of information is just so very good. While it could be 'a lot' for many to breakdown I personally love having more information. I read medical and science periodicals though for various content so that could mean why I always like the 'more' in depth videos. So thank you. I am not within US, rather north, and unable to discuss anything surrounding what dealing with. Being here in a top city I have access to specialists like neurosurgeons & neurologists etc as we are so fortunate to have health care that our society pays into. I always leave a 'like' on all the videos and comments at times. Best to you.
