I'm white male and straight. I'm not wanted so I'll stand aside. I do have respect for that female commander in the RAF who disagreed with the discrimination against white men in the RAF and retired in protest. She showed integrity. The upper echelons of the forces have been captured by the ideology.
You're talking nonsense pal! You probably haven't got the spine to serve anyway! Only a handful of prospective recruits were discriminated against and it's argued most of them wouldn't have passed selection anyway!
then the globalist plan has worked, they've been pushing the gay and trans agenda really hard so men no longer have any testosterone and will no longer fight and oppose the marxist takeover
Maybe they should use former service members to staff the recruiting offices. Preferably recently retired or separated. Using civilians who haven’t done the job is just typical stupid leftist nonsense. Spend millions on military aged refugees, but ignore your military needs. Sounds like a plan.
Many years ago I joined the TA (and served for 23 years). To join I turned up at my local TA centre (infantry), attested and was in. Some time ago I looked at the online Capita route to joining the Reserves (putting false age in of course!). It went through questions, profiles etc etc it then determined where I would best fit in and concluded REME directing me to a unit over 100 miles from where I live. I entered my profile correctly including the fact that I am an arts teacher. Absolute rubbish. For regulars Capita should be ditched. Privatisation gone wrong in this context.
You cant put soliders out there in schools etc to recruit because they will be attacked or harassed by the non british population that are hostile to them.
You're making some very good points. There are lots of things that need to change. The timeline for recruitment is too long. What about bringing back the junior leaders regiments? The pensions have been changed for the worse. Postings abroad have dried up. Exercises at unit level have disappeared. (I used to even arrange Troop exercises to hone our skills) Army quarters continue to have a dreadful reputation When away abroad make sure that the soldiers get some R and R in that country....not just get on the plane, arrive, do the job,fly back... Wasted opportunities. Capita have no place at all in recruitment. Standards should not be dropped to fulfill targets. Service has to be fun, the fun police have removed anything that could be today considered as "edgy" (having a beer all together on a Friday afternoon after PT in the Company/Squadron bar) Actually there are no Company/Squadron/Regimental bars (these places played a pivotal part when I was serving to bind a unit together) Veterans are almost completely abandoned after their service (thanks for coming, you've been awfully nice, now F*** off) The veterans ID card has finally appeared after a glacial rollout. Everything takes too long. But all in all I can see why youngsters are not attracted to the armed services with how things currently are.
With the state of the adverts I dread to think what the quality of the recruits is like. Our armed forces were alway the best, disciplined and professional.
Exactly that, yes it’s ruined, yes it’s a nightmare even flying our own flag but I served the people, I felt proud and willing to defend family, friends and everyone else
@@CombatReadyHQ Serving and Protecting something that has objectively shown to hate you, your values, your principles, and your morals... While they have passed laws and policies that hurt your family, friends and countrymen... Telling you its "for your good and safety", while they let the foreigner who will never assimilate or become part of the nation, bring their third world foolishness with them, and get away with the violence and instability they bring, because they fear being called "racist". Its asinine. I served as well, US Army, 101st Airborne. 5 years. After I got back from Afghanistan, and after I got out, I realized I wasn't protecting much of anything other than private and elite interests. If I was protecting my country, I'd have better served at the US-Mexico Border, which has gone from a problem, to a crisis, to now the potential flashpoint for Civil War. Because said government shut down over 5 billion to border security measures, but happily has sent 200+ Billion to Ukraine to secure THEIR border... That's why nobody is wanting to serve. Western Governments have made it nearly indistinguishable as to who they call the bad guy, while calling themselves the "good guy", yet pulling the tomfoolery they pull on their own citizens and expecting to be worshipped...
Who has been arrested for flying the union jack again? I bet not a single person yet these idiotic myths persist. People believe what they want to rather than reality
I was a football, rugby track guy in school. Was always interested in military - even now at 38 years old I've travelled to the Balkans to do courses on survival and firearms. The thing that kept me out was hearing about friends through sports who lost legs and even their bollocks due to an IED in Afghanistan and Iraq. Even at the time it made no sense for the UK to be sending its soldiers there and of course both countries are now worse off than when the US and UK went in. Respect the forces but despise the government that misuses them.
It’s quite difficult watching my homeland been invaded. The constant lies by our gutless politicians. We are unable to project our young vulnerable children from pakistanai child rape gangs. Im living through the replacement of my continent and I’m supposed to enjoy it. I know exactly who’s behind it and why.
@@djharto4917 If you meant "fighting for Israel and trans rights in Ukraine," it's not taken down, Clown. I hope you fight for terrorists, i.e., Hamas and the dictatorship in Russia.
the MAIN reason the British army has failed is because they have rejected so many candidates due to extremely strict medical standards eg I was rejected for having a small knee injury for just over a week
12 to 18 months is far too long for guys & girls who are keen to join, enthusiasm wanes quickly and potential recruits who might have a great career in the military are being lost. Capita need to be chinned off and recruitment offices brought back.
They shut out the actual native people of Britian and naively thought non native people were going to love it here so much they would sign up and fight ... My biggest enemy is the U.K government , so why would i sign up to fight for them ??
Not a pom but a quick google showed in 2018 Capita were missing recruitment numbers yet by 2022 their contract was 660+ million pounds, the only way the military itself couldn't do the job themselves for 1/10th the cost is if they don't have enough military members to run it
The armed forces is a revolving door. You will always lose people as it isn't a life long career. Most people it's 22 years and done - even if you tried to stay on longer bringing experience etc it's "nope - end of contract". For most leaving after a full career they're only 40 years old! Yes recruitment is a nightmare right now but retention is worse. Changing pensions of soliders that signed up for something different initially, 9 month deployments to Estonia which isn't even war fighting (just going on exercise for 9 months basically), quality of food and accomodation (especially married quarters) - you're just not going to retain people these days. Since the dawn of social media over the last 10-15 years people are savvy to other and better options than joining the forces. Unfortunately the military is 20 years behind the curve.
All those benefits Europe has that people believe don't exist anywhere in the US, it exists in the military, and even here they cannot hit the numbers they need even after a reduction to recruitment standards and training standards. Seriously, of all places, in the US where people have fought over such benefits for generations, the offer of free government paid healthcare, daycare, state of the art health resources, free university, free housing, travel, education, experience, tax free grocery, and more isn't enough to get people here on board. We also plan like we have no brain cells looking to future needs, mostly due to politics. 2020-2024 we have had problems recruiting and retaining which is hilarious because in 2008-2016 we were downsizing and in many different ways(Early retirement packages implemented, raising standards for recruiting so almost no one gets recruited, & administratively discharging for semantics like not meeting weight standards even if its due to muscle and pass all physical fitness tests). Prior, from 2000-2008 we were ramping up our military, bloody ping pong over here in the states with our military retention & recruitment plans.
@joshbull623 The US military, especially the marine, has a big problem with post service unemployment. Its a stain on the military honour, to see veterans on the streets. There needs to be better assurances of post service employment. Which is actually easily solved, the government can guarantee preferential hiring for government jobs to ex servicemen. This is within government power and costs nothing. Plus having mote patriots in government roles can only be a good thing overall.
You do but you’ll never get rid of PTSD or injuries they just need to make sure medical and rehab are in place, but homelessness, and looking after soldiers and needs need to be dealt with
Since after 2009, If I recall recognising that there was a major shift in Armed forces restructuring model in what the "government called expenditure cuts to costs of spending and focusing on reducing its numbers in each sector of the army. So they brought in the privateers to manage the finance cuts and boy they did just that, I witnessed regiments been disbanded like there wasn't a care at all. Now 2024 the Big chief of Armed forces is declaring that the numbers currently in the Armed forces aren't sufficient enough for readiness of a conflict, that they might have to resort to the old days of national service it is absolutely bonkers really...... The current model isn't working at All in All sectors ie the Navy hasn't seen extremely low numbers for their new fleets in years!!!!!
I would say it's been declining a long time ago, I did try joining up back in early 90s but due to 2 operations I had, i wasn't excepted.. But my late Dad served with regular and TA unit. Then later working at a local TA unit, even them no one was joining up.. The advertising are rubbish compared to the marines and navy.. My old man said back then they just tick boxing like every other companies.. I remember going to Bury St Edmunds to the local TA unit and 1 guy asked my dad do you mind helping to shift some old Bedfords and their was 1 female and he said to her right jump in that 1 drive it and park up at the other end of the car park, I said what is she doing, you could tell she was struggling, not just this women he seen men struggling to drive a Land Rover.. Remember one of the guys asking me old man are busy one Weekend he asked why, theirs only 1 driver to drive the lorry and they supposed to be taking 2...didn't happen. I'm talking at least 15 to 20 years ago now. Trouble with the top brass, they don't speak the truth and try sugar coating everything..
It's everywhere now!! Was talking to an ex work colleague from nissan, woke inclusion and diversity bollocks is making banter at work impossible. Woman are in charge now, and it's bollocks
Let me tell you now from a guy a White English Caucasian Hetrosexual guy who is still in but a non deployable role..I served 12 years in the regs, I could do the job and have always kept myself super fit I can bang out 30 pull ups and and run an SCR sub 7 minutes, I served in a couple of cap badges..in the End I was constantly career mis managed and failed, now the only reason for this is that my face simply did not fit into any of the E and D quotas. Extreme wokeism has been allowed to insert and RPG itself outwards.. now I'm not saying I'm the perfect Soldier, far from it but I've watched the upper echelon's play a danger game instead of promoting purely on Merit and ability that individual will get blacklisted in place of an individual who can't do the job isn't combat effective, and can't even pass a basic fitting test... and purely because they fill a quota.I wouldn't join now if I knew what I did 16 year's ago. Now, let's talk about fems and fraternising between the ranks, over the years I have seen this happen Infront of my very own eyes not only can it destroy the integrity of a Unit and the esprit de corps of a unit it's also responsible for the retention issues, I've known countless good blokes get career fucked over in place of Fems who look good but aren't can't really do the job fully. Hence the Woke Shit show we currently have now ..
the main issue i think is that the government done care about English nationals ask your self's why would people fight when our own uk people are second-class citizens in our own land you look at help financially, medically, and housing our people are on the streets while boat boys get over and why would we fight for that as a nation? There is a video asking non-native-born immigrants presumably legal. If they would fight for the uk all of them said no they would leave that tells them where they are at mentally about it . The government doesn't care labour is not even putting a plan to stop them then you have the guys who protest against this who would actually would get into a scrap and they are victimized as "right-wing extremists " for showing abit of pride for the way of life here that 2 world wars was fought for and our people died for but now we have this two tear police state where having a union jack flag can get you in trouble but a hamas flag seems fine thats why a lot of people do not respect those in the houses.
Productivity lowered after Babcock took over the Defence Support Group from the MOD . This was despite bringing in Simpler lean management and later Newton consultants to find out where they went wrong. Civil servant mandarins then gave them a contract extension !
Judging by the Pegasus - you served with 1st British Airbourne? One of my biggest regrets in my life was not joining the Parachute Regiment in my 20s. I can’t say I’d do the same these days. But I’m still going through application to be a reserve officer. But the ongoing issues around wokeness, and the overall (and agonising) process of going through vetting still give me pause for concern. I can’t blame anyone for not wanting to join the military these days.
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus..... I so couldn't agree more.... what planet are Capita and the people that handed out this contract on? It's no different to the outsourcing of married quarters.... let the armed forces manage their own day to day admin rather than some LTD company that, in reality, is just out to make a profit for their shareholders...
Had a lad of mine get turned down for two bouts of attempted suicide...BEFORE he joined the regulars and reserves. They then said that he can appeal, but if he fails the appeal he will be barred from joining the army. Fucking wild.
It was approax 6 years before he joined. He turned his life around and part of that was cutting out certain people from his life. No such issues since. The army was part of his process of bettering himself and his life. Baffling the repeated fuck ups Capita and higher make. Such a woke shit hole now.
Why. I'll tell you why In the second world war. We were all joined together with 1 aim. To defeat the Nazis, We were all joined together no political. Division, like now, How if you foreign or a different religion or g@y, or LGBTQ now you're looked down on by some politicians and there supporters, So I surmise LGBTQ people, g@y people, anyone of a different colour or faith. Ain't going to join the army and fight for the people who villinise them, And why should they Imagine if this was ww2 and we made villains of the foreigners like we do now, Do you see all those polish pilots that helped beat the Luftwaffe bothering now, No. Why. Would they, So that's the problem that's why nobody is joining the army because of division from politicians who don't care about the country, The. Farages. The tices , the Johnsons, the sunaks, the Galloway's. Are all destroying our army with their divisive rhetoric ,
I'm a Hetrosexual Caucasian Male I'm in, I'm serving and I've had blokes in my squadron get agai'ed for using the word "Manpower"whilst sending an email!! I really wish I was making this shit up.
But here in Nepal we prepare to be British army since adolescent.... Here in Nepal thousands got rejected and only around 200-300 got selected in British army...😂😂😂
I remember 1990, wanted to join the army after being a Cadet a number of years, NI was all over the news so decided not to. Royal Navy released a recruitment add on tv, lots of Adventure training, having a good time at work and ashore, which sold me, and i ended up doing 22yrs. At the time the Army got what i would call 'negative' press, even though they were doing a great job, it was all killing violence and negativity towards the army. You have a good point that you must demonstrate there is very much a work hard play hard within British Forces, and that play hard is a carrot toward doing well. Yes, pay as you dine, pension changes, loss of privelages/allowances has put a bit dampner on it, one of the best things about joining the military is the advantages, Travel, travel warrants, free dental and medical, good accomodation, basically all the stuff civvies dont get! Great vid mate....
Get rid of the recruiting company, save the cost, and pump it back into training. If needed, restart 2 years of national service, running in conjunction with volunteers and the TA. I joined in 1972, demobbed at the end of 1983, just short of 12 years. Then, 37 years in the uniform of the Western Australia Police. Forces orientated for most of my life.
Britons aren't joining the British military. Americans aren't joining the US military. Canadians aren't joining the Canadian military. Aussies aren't joining the Australian military. Japanese aren't joining the Japanese self-defense forces. South Koreans aren't joining the Korean military (except for those who join temporarily as conscripts). Even the Chinese aren't joining the Chinese military with a 20% urban youth unemployment rate. They all have an issue with the retention rate. So there's definitely an organizational issue inside, but it also seems like there's a generational issue. The new generation across the world doesn't have much faith in their own respective nation. They're also a lot less physical than the previous generations because they grew up hanging out on smartphones. We're seeing this phenomenon in so many countries across the world, regardless of their culture or political system. If there's a strong generational component to this crisis, then what can we actually do? It's a hard question when you realize it's not just an internal issue. It's like a pandemic.
Problem with having women on the frontlines (don't have a problem with women in the Army) is that what happens when they get captured by men on the opposing side? Take a guess!
Couldn’t agree more we need the real brits joining and get the army doing demo days and goin into schools I have a couple base/centers around me and never see any off them Also the pay is soo poor like 20k I couldn’t send that back to my Wife and kid so they could live off as my rent is nearly 10k per year alone
@@CombatReadyHQ My old mob had a Regimental Information Team that toured the country doing all the fairs etc.. In their infinate wisdom, this was used as R&R for the wounded. Not easy to recruit a kid when his mother is standing beside him and you've all go bits of your face hanging off!
@@the_bridges I understand where you’re coming from… however, some “Brits” who may have family here for generations are disgusting and a complete drain on society. I’d go so far to say that at times I’m embarrassed. That being said, the majority of British aren’t that way inclined. Regarding our armed forces, I believe the Army should take a page out of the Royal Marines advertisement approach. Perhaps then they’d get better numbers wanting to sign up? Also, most army personnel I’ve seen in the careers office are what doctors would say, clinically obese. Would I want someone like that turning up to a school to recruit for the military? Absolutely not.
Cool vid man, as someone that's currently going through the recruitment process it has been a lengthy progress a lot of hoops to jump through so I can see why people may pull out or not start, its took me around 15 months to get my start date which is in march. Looking forward to getting mucked in! Keep up the vids man!
Talk about time from going for selection centre, Sutton Coldfield when I was in, to basic training, I went on the Wednesday to Friday for selection, passed chose my regiment Scots guards went for my swearing in attestment on the Saturday with an officer present then basic training Monday morning. My feet never touched the ground thereafter. When I finished I got selected to do satisfied soldier at my recruiting office and colour sergeant said he'd never known it happen that quick before.
That is insane, I’ve seen it quick but don’t think I’ve seen it that quick. The time it now takes Capita to get someone in is just ridiculous and is way to long; to many people drop out
@@CombatReadyHQ I've heard that mate. Because I was going in the Scots guards the next intake just happened to be the following Monday, they couldn't get enough recruits because a lot dropped out so I got fast tracked. I had to go to the main rectuiting centre which was Durham and an officer had to be drafted in specifically to attest me, It had to be an officer with a Queens commission apparently, this was on the Saturday. My two other choices were light infantry and engineers but they had waiting lists of months. Tells you all you need to know about the guards really, 78 started and about a dozen of us passed out. In them days there was a never ending line of recruits so they weren't bothered if you passed or not, different story today though.
I joined in 1973, went to a Recruitment Centre and took some (academic) tests and was asked a bit about my background and police record (I had a few football related punch ups). I went back next day and they said everything was ok, I think it was a week later and I'd took the King's Shilling - which was a £5 - and on the train to Sutton Coldfield the same day. Three days there when I could choose whatever Regt/Corp to join and then after that straight off to start basic training.
when i left school in 2002 i tried to get into the army couldnt pass the maths test did the test a few times but was just hard. but im probley to old to join now and dont think they would let me in.
The advertising is terrible, who would want to go on operations with people who stop to pray on the battlefield and remove their shoes! (See the latest advert!) you’re inviting disaster!
Back in the day I was a Recruiter in London From first walking into the office we could have an applicant processed and into their appropriate Training Depot in ten weeks. Because we had a good mix of Recruiters we could talk to potential recruits about our different roles, trades and experiences allowing them a wider view of Army life. What would a civilian know from reading a pamphlet? I certainly wouldn’t advise a career in the military; if the MoD can’t make the effort to recruit properly, they won’t be able to do many other things properly. The Ajax debacle is an example…..
I was in H M F a life time ago grumbled like fook whilst in, missed the hell out of it when I left. At times it's cold wet and uncomfortable and you get the on the bus off the bus hurry up and wait but that's the nature of the beast but the one thing you have to remember is why you're doing it, seems nowadays the younger generation prefer a more sit on your arse kind of life. You go places do things have more adventures gain more experiences get a trade achieve things more so as you could do in civi street
“Let’s stop while on patrol so he can feel included and pray, mate turn down the radio to so he can do it in peace” - and the air support now doesn’t get delivered and everyone’s going home in a box. Bring back the old ads and make Craig head of the army; please. Applied for RAF PTI years ago and only now in April do I actually start, get rid of Capita first and with them any woke garbage.
I'm with you there, Junior Leaders Regiments produced a core of good NCOs and SNCOs many of whom were commissioned, not to mention Army Apprentice colleges. Not everyone wants to go on to higher education but a lot of youngsters were up for adventure and commeraderie, otherwise a lot of these lads would have turned out to be pains in the arse on street corners around the country. Thus instead of being vilified they would be hailed as good citizens. All this stuff is common sense to your average bloke, but wokeys and politicians who are all ex hippies and lefties, even the conservatives, don't have an ounce of common cause they're posh bastards, even man of the people, Sir Keyhole Stammer.
The Marines have some great commercials, action and stealth. When I was in forces in early 90s, combat bizarrely is some of the most exciting parts of your life. You will never find a buzz like it. I just remember walking around my local town centre 2 weeks after coming home, just thinking, this is fucking shit . My engagement was part of UN Peacekeeping operation in Bosnia, three guys opened fire on building we were using for food stores, just taking potshots, we caught 2 of them, it turned out they were paid to take shots at the building only, to gauge the response of defense. Some Serb observation was probably nearby with his telescope . Just join, it's a job, by time your 30 think about getting out and earning some real money, by that point you should be set if you worked hard academically too.
The town I live in Northern Ireland it use to be a couple or three soldiers that done the recruitment because they knew the crack and could answer questions.
Everytime there was a problem when I was in. Was caused by a civilian company messing Up. Why o why have we been forced to have incompetent civilians involved in defense. Military is a byword of commitment, drive, loyalty, devotion to colleagues and to country. Civilian is a byword for incompetent, selfish, profeteiring, lazy, ignorant and presumption of knowledge.
I worry as they might not use my pronouns correctly, I will get offended and have a meltdown down. So I choose not to sign up, I choose to be referred to as a Penguinhorsefrog, my pronouns are Waddlenahrebbit . 😮😮😮😂
I was in the forces when my regiment was amalgamated sad times. 1WFR was a brilliant regiment. I'd love to see how woke the army foundation college in harrogate is.
I'm in, I'm serving, it's a Woke shit show mate. I've had blokes in my Unit get agai'ed for using the word "Manpower" whilst sending an email. I really wish I was joking.
I've been in since April 2023 and can honestly say there's more negatives to positives. Food is is raw accommodation falling apart 1 toilet and 2 showers for 8 men freezing rooms could go on all day
Im a former soldier of 10 years and i totally agree about the asthma or any physical problem but the tattoo rule is in the dark ages in my opinion, maybe not the face but neck, hands etc i dont see the issue at all? ive been out 15 years and lads had hand tattoos done once they got to battalion even back then and it certainly didnt make them a bad soldier so i think to leave someone out for a hand or neck tattoo ( obviously as long as its non offensive) is turning away a potentially good soldier.
I would happily join if the requirements for medication were more lenient. I couldn't join the UOTC because of my low dose anti depressants. I wanted to join because it might actually help me with my mental drive.
The issue is very multi facetted. Bad recruitment process mixed with the issue of being an under funded peace time army definitely has a significant impact. However we all know that for years now people have been becoming increasingly aware of the digusting cockroaches we have as political leaders. We know better than ever now because of the power of the internet. My advice to anyone already in service or about to begin, take *as much as you can* out of the military while youre in. I.e life experience, personal development, money, licenses, education etc. If you dont the military will just take take take from you until you're out on your ass in civvie street 4 years later as a bitter veteran with nothing to their name.
i tried joining like 19/20 years ago and i got rejected simply for an old injury in my left foot. sucked however ive had no choice to consider it as a blessing in disguise since
Mate if I could rewind back to 19 British army wud been my 1st career ideal world. Back in 80s early 90s when I met ex vets doing ECCO agency work then, some those built like bricks, others lean. Me being fond of Authorities. couldn't wait to join. Even that era guys were saying don't do it one advice " we been sold out by very thing we fought for". Looking back. It takes heart, courage, immense effort to put yourself down.for. country first. This class system we have needs to value how each guy & lady up there. Put belief into it, tear up echr, build big business abroad in a way that drives message to world we are a small island nation just trying to hold our head up, do right thing.
Okay, let me incorporate the story of Des Powell to provide a more concise overview of the military recruitment challenges: In the past, the military, including elite units like the 22SAS, could recruit individuals with limited formal education, as the focus was on experience, physical abilities and the right mature mindset. However, the modern military has become highly technical and complex. Nowadays, recruits need a wide range of skills to operate advanced equipment, process intelligence, and work with various military branches and international partners. This has led the military to raise the educational and administrative requirements for recruitment. As a result, even capable individuals like Des Powell, who once would have been suitable for the job despite lacking literacy skills, but could then learn it on the job, may now struggle to meet the new criteria. They have to navigate hurdles related to technical proficiency, analytical capabilities, and administrative compliance. The military has had to adapt to the changing nature of warfare, this has made the recruitment process more demanding. Potential recruits must possess a diverse skill set beyond just physical fitness and the right mindset. Navigating these increased requirements (created by who) has become a significant challenge for many interested in military service. By incorporating the example of Des Powell, this summary highlights how the shifting recruitment landscape has created new obstacles for individuals who may have the potential to excel in the military but lack the specific educational or administrative background now required.
This problem seems to be endemic to the Countries of the Anglosphere, the U.K. obviously, Canada where I am and the U.S.A. I cannot speak for Oz or New Zealand and there seems to be commonality of problems mainly brought on by the dreaded D.E.I. added to a disdain for the demographic that usually made up the bulk of recruitment, add to that the fact that to be a Patriot and love your Country and it's past seems to be some kind of Venal Sin. So an employer wants to hire young (they have to be young and fit) adults and retain them for approx. twenty years, what have you to offer in material compensation or emotional fulfillment, the money is slightly better than working in the fast food industry, you will be expected to travel a great distance from your home area, be nickel and dimed over every expense, if you are a straight male they will tell you right up front that advancement will be way more difficult for you, the original concept of Unit Identification (in the U.K. and Canada the esprit de corps of the Regiment) is now a thing of the past as it could marginalize someone or hurt feelings. While I am sure there are Major differences from Country to Country these would seem to be the commonalities, any Aussie or Kiwis out there have any input?
Couldn’t agree more, been at the army for more than 30 years, pay as you dine is such a bad idea. Most military kitchens are run by civilians, they have know no idea
Absolutely agree, we need to bring back the armed forces careers office and get all your questions answered by service personnel. A massive change in recruitment and how much you are valued as a soldier fighting for king and country. *Better pay *No more paying for your subsidised meals etc
I had to leave the Army when I was 18. Unfortunately, I was badly injured by a improvised booby-trap set by an underground gorilla force. Actually, I'm not sure exactly what they were, it could have be a badger or a vole. As the British army doesn't classify fossorials as a terrorist organisation I wasn't awarded any recognition for the injury.
Ex army 74 to 84 I joined as I wanted to serve, blokes nowadays don’t want to serve they want to b served they want u to put ur life on the line, they are lazy and soft, kids or blokes I see walking the streets these days I wouldn’t want them watching my back ,if war broke out tomoro they would run a mile sorry but that’s how I feel about kids blokes nowadays
As some one who had a decent service length in the Marines, I think the biggest issue the MOD has with recruitment is that they medically fail people for such basic stuff. Adolescent anxiety, infant heart murmur, or a ACL repair all of which wouldn’t really be an issue as long as they pass fitness tests and additional health screening. Capita love dishing out P8 medical rejections. Even for reserves are here is a nightmare
Great point and very true, so many people I speak to are being rejected on medical grounds are that extremely old and have nothing to with there current life
@@CombatReadyHQ yep and even with other specialist consultants writing letters their appeals are just summarily rejected. So the this amplifies the issue. Can’t get enough people wanting to join and those that do (and are good candidates) are being rejected. The stress this is having on units as retention is also low is crazy.
I don't see the attraction in joining the forces now, and I joined in 1984 and got out in 1990, I enjoyed my time, most of it in Germany, Canada & N.Ireland, we trained to fight, but now they don't it's that simple, you don't fight for king and country you fight for your mates.
My theory is that, like the U.S. Military, they are building an Army that can be used against it's own citizens, not foreign entities. They recruit people who would not question the use of lethal force against their fellow citizens, kind of like modern police. It's the only thing that makes sense.
I repeat from your last vid, how can anyone do 4 years in the British Army when constant Defence Reviews keep whittling down resources. What is the future in that?
Honestly it’s pay , it’s not kept up with the times and the benefits are outdated. There’s a reason UKSF are at half mast … poached by company’s paying the money they deserve. Training pay should start at 24 and rise to 30 for all privates and keep all current benefits. I can guarantee you’ll see a rise of intake with that.
Another issue, or at least was, years ago, is that they need to stop sending mostly s… and broken people to do recruitment at the afco’s or whatever they are called now - would be much better if people who actually make it more of a profession for former ninjas who are injured - instead of what it is or mostly was…place for unhappy people to go and graze
I was unable to join due to inside the ear tattoos. It really wounded me. I could have worn make up, on the 20p coin sized tattoo, on each ear when on parade or at a formal event. It wouldn't change my soldiering.
So depressing watching this. The Army was my absolute dream career since I was a child. Unfortunately asthma and the metal plates in my foot had other ideas🙃 great video though!
The entrance standard requirement to pass is to high. Early years there was plenty of soldiers. Nowadays you want a smaller professional army. That's good if you keep them to guard our shorelines. Half of our soldiers are based for 6 months at any time in other countries. Norway has x number of royal marines. Africa has x number of soldiers. Ukraine and Germany and Denmark have x number of soldiers and naval personnel. Cyprus has x soldiers and middle east has our navy patrol ship in that area. People won't join the armed forces because the standard requirement is to high. 100 soldiers pass 40 100 para's pass 30 100 tank crew pass mark 40 Royal marines 100 pass mark 30 Special forces 100 pass mark 20 These recruits are willing volunteer and yet the majority fail because of the high standards for entrance to these units. Let them all pass this is neither up nor down for the instructor's they shall do their utmost to train the would be armed forces personnel. I know when they get to their respective units training them would be on the ground. Our training doesn't stop at the training depo. Definitely not it's a daily thing training constantly to make Britain A professional army. I believe that conscription won't work. Yes government officials and political parties and leaders are forcing people to join the armed forces. Give the volunteers a chance. We have good junior leaders soldiers who also need to lower entrance standard. 370 pass entrance standard while 50 fail. Let them weaker soldiers get to their respective units training them up to standards in their respective units would encourage them to meet standards. I believe doing this Britain could have 500,000 soldiers in 2 years. I was asked why half million soldiers. Why not china 3 million Korea 1 million USA 2 million Russia 2 million. Once we had the greatest empire in the world. Now we are a big island with 197,000 soldiers defending our shores. Middle east Norway Africa and Ukraine. Our forces are spread over the world including Falkland Islands. How many really defend British isles.
They need to bring the accreditation into alignment with civilian quals. They amount of time and effort that goes into courses like Scbc etc . Doest count for anything
They are a joke i joined in 2014 done all my training then i asked for a change of Reg they wouldn't allow it so i left, Tried to rejoin but they wouldn't allow me because i had a little bit of anxiety and depression absolutely crazy.

Infantry is where the main recruitment and retention problems are, so why is infantry still on the bottom tier of the payscales? Whatever happened to the laws of supply and demand? The army is still in the Victorian era in this respect. In modern youth education is not the rarity it once was, and the capacity to endure great suffering is now the rarity. Also, infantry careers are usually much shorter than other trades. Pay what the market demands, and watch the recruits flood in.

I'm not wanted so I'll stand aside.
I do have respect for that female commander in the RAF who disagreed with the discrimination against white men in the RAF and retired in protest.
She showed integrity.

I honestly think what the hell did the government think they were doing getting a civvies company to do recruitment!!!!
Exactly my thoughts!
Crapita.
Totally agree , get an Army career office staffed by Army personnel
Because its another pocket for the minister to get the funds needed to pay the civilian companies and take his own 🫳🏻share
Maybe they should use former service members to staff the recruiting offices. Preferably recently retired or separated. Using civilians who haven’t done the job is just typical stupid leftist nonsense. Spend millions on military aged refugees, but ignore your military needs. Sounds like a plan.
Appealing to a demographic that isn’t interested whilst deterring those who might. Ideology above reality.
Speaking as someone applying through the Capita process: they seem to have cleaned up somewhat, but the medical has been the most agonising part
The army has gone down the rabbit hole which is diversity equality and inclusion. Need to ring back local regiments and double its buget
Yup they even dish out shitty helal rat packs now
You cant put soliders out there in schools etc to recruit because they will be attacked or harassed by the non british population that are hostile to them.
You're making some very good points.
There are lots of things that need to change.
The timeline for recruitment is too long.
What about bringing back the junior leaders regiments?
The pensions have been changed for the worse.
Postings abroad have dried up.
Exercises at unit level have disappeared. (I used to even arrange Troop exercises to hone our skills)
Army quarters continue to have a dreadful reputation
When away abroad make sure that the soldiers get some R and R in that country....not just get on the plane, arrive, do the job,fly back... Wasted opportunities.
Capita have no place at all in recruitment.
Standards should not be dropped to fulfill targets.
Service has to be fun, the fun police have removed anything that could be today considered as "edgy" (having a beer all together on a Friday afternoon after PT in the Company/Squadron bar)
Actually there are no Company/Squadron/Regimental bars (these places played a pivotal part when I was serving to bind a unit together)
Veterans are almost completely abandoned after their service (thanks for coming, you've been awfully nice, now F*** off) The veterans ID card has finally appeared after a glacial rollout.
Everything takes too long.
But all in all I can see why youngsters are not attracted to the armed services with how things currently are.
With the state of the adverts I dread to think what the quality of the recruits is like. Our armed forces were alway the best, disciplined and professional.
You can’t even safely fly the Union Jack in your own country. Why would anyone serve such a country or government?

Not a pom but a quick google showed in 2018 Capita were missing recruitment numbers yet by 2022 their contract was 660+ million pounds, the only way the military itself couldn't do the job themselves for 1/10th the cost is if they don't have enough military members to run it
My family served in the army from Crimea to Gulf 1, I'm damn sure none of them would join a woke army
Those 40 year old have so much knowledge. As long as they are fit
If you show the good side of the Military you have to first clear up the bad.... Injuries,PTSD, homeless vets etc
Who would you be fighting for you cant fly a union jack are a st George's cross ? I served in the army in 70s 80s
the main issue i think is that the government done care about English nationals ask your self's why would people fight when our own uk people are second-class citizens in our own land you look at help financially, medically, and housing our people are on the streets while boat boys get over and why would we fight for that as a nation? There is a video asking non-native-born immigrants presumably legal. If they would fight for the uk all of them said no they would leave that tells them where they are at mentally about it . The government doesn't care labour is not even putting a plan to stop them then you have the guys who protest against this who would actually would get into a scrap and they are victimized as "right-wing extremists " for showing abit of pride for the way of life here that 2 world wars was fought for and our people died for but now we have this two tear police state where having a union jack flag can get you in trouble but a hamas flag seems fine thats why a lot of people do not respect those in the houses.

We were all joined together no political. Division, like now,
How if you foreign or a different religion or g@y, or LGBTQ now you're looked down on by some politicians and there supporters,
So I surmise LGBTQ people, g@y people, anyone of a different colour or faith. Ain't going to join the army and fight for the people who villinise them,
And why should they
Imagine if this was ww2 and we made villains of the foreigners like we do now,
Do you see all those polish pilots that helped beat the Luftwaffe bothering now,
No. Why. Would they,
So that's the problem that's why nobody is joining the army because of division from politicians who don't care about the country,

Then, 37 years in the uniform of the Western Australia Police.

Too right the recruitment company for sure they are the worse thing to happen to the military, sounds like you had a good career

Conscription? My pronouns are Sgt. and Cpt. And what way is left
Ive been trying to find somewhere in the army I can join but haven't found anywhere I can get into with my eyesight
@NullbYte-gk5jq 🤣
If they had stuck with the local Regimental system, they would not have had these problems.
I've been in since April 2023 and can honestly say there's more negatives to positives. Food is is raw accommodation falling apart 1 toilet and 2 showers for 8 men freezing rooms could go on all day
Shit pay, Rupert officers and being relocated all the time is enough to put me off.
I agree and say you should head up recruitment!
If you dont the military will just take take take from you until you're out on your ass in civvie street 4 years later as a bitter veteran with nothing to their name.
i tried joining like 19/20 years ago and i got rejected simply for an old injury in my left foot. sucked however ive had no choice to consider it as a blessing in disguise since
We used to have the army doing training activities with teens fun zip lines. They don't seem to do it now
Someone might fall and hurt themselves.
As a British muslim I'm planning to apply thank you for the insight, just need ro get super fit
Okay, let me incorporate the story of Des Powell to provide a more concise overview of the military recruitment challenges:
In the past, the military, including elite units like the 22SAS, could recruit individuals with limited formal education, as the focus was on experience, physical abilities and the right mature mindset.
You have a point(5:17). Not everyone can be trained into being an effective soldier.
*Better pay
*No more paying for your subsidised meals etc
Too right bring back the benefits, the brotherhood and actually speaking to someone who can answer your problems and help with all your worries
Its sad to see the Btitish Army going down hill. It used to be regarded the Best Army in the World.
Westminster left thousands of ex soldiers to die on uk streets
GIVE ME A COUNTRY WORTH FIGHTING FOR. !!!
Yes!
Because I do slays think everyone should try at least 4 years, but they need to sort out the issues and make the army great again.
A lot more money and no more Bull Shit 🤔 no money no man simple ....
Exactly, they need to inject a lot more money
I'm ex army and I would not let my child join,
I was unable to join due to inside the ear tattoos. It really wounded me. I could have worn make up, on the 20p coin sized tattoo, on each ear when on parade or at a formal event. It wouldn't change my soldiering.
Did they not give you the option of getting it removed?
Any time I’ve been on the phone to a Capita agent they’ve just directed me to a Armed forces office, can’t answer any questions. 😂
When I applied the my application got put on hold because my capita advisor took a two week break 😅
So depressing watching this. The Army was my absolute dream career since I was a child. Unfortunately asthma and the metal plates in my foot had other ideas🙃 great video though!
Sorry to hear that mate, and thank you
The entrance standard requirement to pass is to high.
100 soldiers pass 40
100 para's pass 30
100 tank crew pass mark 40
Royal marines 100 pass mark 30
Special forces 100 pass mark 20
These recruits are willing volunteer and yet the majority fail because of the high standards for entrance to these units.
Let them all pass this is neither up nor down for the instructor's they shall do their utmost to train the would be armed forces personnel.
I know when they get to their respective units training them would be on the ground.
Our training doesn't stop at the training depo.
Definitely not it's a daily thing training constantly to make Britain
A professional army.
Why not china 3 million
Korea 1 million
USA 2 million
Russia 2 million.
Once we had the greatest empire in the world.
Now we are a big island with 197,000 soldiers defending our shores.
Middle east
Norway
Africa and Ukraine.
Our forces are spread over the world including Falkland Islands.
How many really defend British isles.
BANG ON.
Cheers Dave
i only just joined, i started my application about a year ago and the whole selection time i was speaking to actual soldiers
They've made it more difficult for commonwealth to join and these are the people who usually stay
Get rid of capata if u still have no luck go to napal increase the size of the gurkahs in the 80/s pass the test l week to change your mind aligence to the queen 1 week later basic 22 weeks what a difference
I can sort this in 2 seconds
"Sack capita"
