    This truck is a 1974 paystar 5070 manufactured in the Springfield plant. It can't be an 80's truck cause the Vin would have had a 17letter/character vin.
    Your serial # on this is A5057DC511577 the D is the yr designator ad the C indicates it was a Springfield build. Hope this helps
    And they didn't have steerable tag axles back when this truck was made. It was a solid straight axle. No diff. So if you turned with that axle down youd blow a tire of the bead minimum. Or as bad as tear the axle bolts from the frame. It did make them overweight. But the reason steerable came along was frame stress. Everytime you lifted that axle loaded you'd stress welds and bolts. I've time fatigue would ruin the frame. I bet that old girl has those symptoms in he frame you look close enough.

    Detroit in a IH. What more could you ask for! The truck had spoke wheels often called Daytons. Budd wheels have no spokes and are the most common on modern trucks. Good video!

      Right old Detroit diesel in an IH is a pretty good combination

    My U.S. Air Force Red Horse Unit Had Some Paystar 5000's . I Think They Were Older Than This One . I Was Driving Them Back In 1978 - 1979 . Not Sure Of The Year But They Were Not Brand New At The Time , They Were 6x6 With A 5 Speed And They Had A V-8 Engine With No Turbo Or Supercharger . We Had DumpTrucks & Tractors Both

    Judging by the tappit covers it's a 8v71. It's a good truck to restore

    I'm curious as to what motor is in there. Looks like a nice restorable truck but should have frame inspected thoroughly first. The frame is the truck's backbone. Also find out if frame is reinforced and what design frame is on there. Usually dump/mixer and/or 6X6 tractor frames are heavier than on-highway model duty frames, with deeper "C" channel web sections and thicker web sections and flanges, maybe even higher yield strength in the frame steel alloy than a standard on-highway duty tractor frame. Previous owner history would be useful. I always like the clean and sturdy design of the IHC Paystar 5000 series tractors! I wish they still made them today.

      @petermalanchuk8210 engine wise I believe it's an 8v92 detroit or the 8v71
      I don't recall what the frame was like however being a northern truck running the salt belt it was probably pretty rough

    In terms of the year, the truck could possibly be from the late 70s as well, as 8v71 were sort of phased out as truck engines by the late 70s. 8v92s have been around since 1974. Also, the wheels on this truck are Dayton wheels. Overall, great video, I enjoy your truck content.

      Thank you very much I'm glad you enjoy them
      Yeah I was thinking they were either bud or Dayton wheels
      again I'm not sure so I couldn't find anything regarding the year but like you said could be a late '70s with the 8v71

      @brotherhoodofram8967  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it looks pretty good for its age
      It's not a bad motor the 8v81 Detroit on it's day was a solid running motor
      They'd just run forever that was half their problem
