Wow I just spent a month deciding on that exact tire combo for my new WR250R. Wish I'd found your video earlier! The little moped feels like a rocket ship now, and the handlebars actually work!
I have all these mods too but I went with different tires due to my local terrain. I also added bar risers which help tremendously. I stand a lot off road and the risers help position the bars better to suit me. Plus it gets that damned brake line out of the speedometer when I’m seated.
I have a 2013 crf250l. I run the D606s front and rear. I'm on my third set, love em. Never had the wash out issue. I have the FMF megabomb header and Q4 muffler. The bike breathes better, but it is loud even tho the Q4 is supposed to be more quiet. I would not do this mod again. I have the EJK controller as well. Didn't notice a very big difference in power gain. My buddy had the exact same bike. He got the 305 kit, that made a huge difference! I have the Oxford heated grips, they are awesome. They're fatter than a traditional moto style grip, but they have saved me many a time. I'm just down I5 from you in Southern Oregon :)
I don't go seeking out the mud, but I've definitely been caught in some rain and had to ride thru it. I have never heard of the wash out issue, that's interesting info. If you found a tire you really like I'd stick with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it lol. My current riding partner has a WR250R, he has ran the D606s for a while now with no issues as well. If you got in a pinch and couldn't find the tire you're running now, I wouldn't hesitate to put the 606 on.
One thing I hate about duel sports is how ugly the mirrors are. I’ve never owned a bike but planning on getting a cheap trail bike to get confident on for a summer and eventually upgrade to a 250L. One of the first things I’d be tempted to do is rip those mirrors off but I know it’s illegal to ride without them. Solid video man!
What specific skid-plate insulation mod did you do? Where did you put it? How thick is it? Did you leave the holes uncovered? Was it foam tape insulation type? I just want to get rid of resonance altogether...
Yet another great video!! Just picked up my 2019 250L on Thursday. I've already put on a skid plate, new tail light and flashers, rack, grips and bark busters. I plan on doing some road riding, so I'll try the stock tires for a bit and then upgrade to maybe the Kenda K270's... not sure yet. How can I get a Dork Decal for MY 250L....??
Congrats on your new bike! Send me your address at adorkintheroadappears @ gmail.com (remove the spaces) and I'll see about getting a sticker sent your way.
OldManHobbies picked up my 2019 CRF250L one month ago. Added Acerbis skid plate & Zeta hand guards. Planning to add 42t rear & odometer corrector. Like the stock “quiet” pipe. Might upgrade suspension later. So far extremely fun bike. Much more mellow power than my DR650 but enough. Love that every tank so far has been around 82 mpg.
No aftermarket alloy bars yet? It appears then that the cheesy stock bars have help up well despite the drops so far? I raise this question as my wife's CRF 250L's bars bent quite bad after the first good drop (as them stock steel bars so often do)! Also, keep an eye on that clutch, especially if you do a lot of off-road riding! My wife's 2014 CRF 250L's clutch perished within 3000 km (from new), and I would class her as a 'frugal' clutch user to boot. Honda may have fixed the clutch issue on the newer models (hopefully), however it appeared to be a common issue on the earlier models. We suspected that - because the motor was shared with the old CBR 250R road bike - Honda did not beef up the clutch at the time when they used the same motor in the CRF 250L (?).
Looks like your shifter isn't installed right. It's not pushed onto the shaft all the way. Need to remove the bolt, push it on and then install the bolt you can't just loosen it. Maybe I'm mistaken and you know this already just trying to help
Should I buy this bike? It’s $500 more out the door than the Yamaha XT250, and 500$ less than the KLX250. Any insight would be appreciated. Peace from Canada.
It's definitely better and more capable than the XT and worth the extra money. I haven't had as much experience with the KLX but I'm very happy with my CRF.
Owned a 2018 XT250 & 2018 WR250R. Currently own 2018 DR650 & just bought a 2019 CRF250L. Thoughts: XT is great if you want to do mostly trails. Low seat height, super easy maintenance, good ground clearance & great turning radius. WR had to be modded to touch ground better but great bike. DR is a beast with awesome HP & torque...but heavy. CRF seems to be sweet spot for me. Not light but truly don’t notice it since it’s down low. Very nimble. Little more modern with display, water cooled & fuel injection. Smoother & so much better on tarmac than XT & WR. Will not mod exhaust...like the stock & quiet but will add bigger rear sprocket. The CRF is the keeper for me. Looking for long term relationship. Truly a great 50/50 dual sport.
Hey Dork in the road, what did you install behind the flatland skip plate?? Did you insulation??? For some reason i can hear exactly what you say. Thanks in advance.
@@DorkintheRoad was that because of the vibration and noise. I just ordered one and would hate to have it make a bunch of noise. I appreciate the response and keep making vids.
Leave your suggestions for great CRF250L mods in the comments so your fellow riders can see them!

Yeah working handlebars are pretty important, I'd say.
My CRF is a commuter and my fav mod is Happy Trails highway pegs. I get to put my feet on them or completely stretch my legs out after a long day.
Versatility is one of my favorite things about this bike. With a few mods, it can be pretty much anything you need it to be.

I don't even own a dirt bike, but you know I gotta see the new vid
I appreciate you checking it out!
Best thing I did to mine was...Full FMF pipe, EJK fuel kit, 13t sprocket and stainless hurricane air filter.
Good info/ suggestions for a novice rider as myself.
Thanks for watching!

That's interesting about the Dunlop front tire. Have you had it in mud much?

Doobie Lawson Ever tried Kenda K270?

I love my double take mirrors. Worth every penny.
Great mods! I need to do a few to my 2017 CRF250L.
I highly recommend tires first if you're doing any off road.
Those mirrors look quite nifty! :-)
They're really awesome. Highly recommended.
@@DorkintheRoad are those the 2" or 3" arms? My guess is 3" but I'm trying to decide if it'll make much of a difference

Put the mad dog seat cover on my dualsported xr 250r. Couldn't believe it made that big of a difference! For 20bucks can't go wrong.😃
Hard to believe something so cheap can be so effective

OldManHobbies Also will probably try Kenda K270’s
I miss seeing the crf250l 😥
He said 1600 miles in two years, Im at 1100 and I've had my 2018 for a month
great video thanks... any updates to your tire experiences? Shopping for stock tire replacements focused on off-road use
Still love the D600/MT21 but I also really like the Kenda Trakmasters. Great traction in the mud and sand

Stock bars have done well so far.

Hey Dork in the road, what did you install behind the flatland skip plate?? Did you insulation??? For some reason i can hear exactly what you say. Thanks in advance.
It was some weather stripping foam tape, kind of like this: amzn.to/2H2bgb0
@@DorkintheRoad was that because of the vibration and noise. I just ordered one and would hate to have it make a bunch of noise. I appreciate the response and keep making vids.
Yeah it's got a weird resonance that gets distracting at 50+ mph I guess. Supposedly that stuff helps.
Is that USB port that caused your battery charging problem?
Yes but only because I left it open in the rain for a couple hours
@@DorkintheRoad cool I just watched the mods video and heard you had a problem with the USB draining your battery
Do you hear any resonance from the skid-plate? Did you use foam tape to stop the resonance? If yes, what width?
I just heard what you did in the video. But what thickness insulation did you use?
Where can I buy online these mirrors???? Thanks in advance...for your answer 🥰
There should be a link in the description.
Hi all, I would really like to get the double take mirrors but Amazon does not have them anymore and im not sure what size I need.
Do you know of anyone who has done the 305cc big bore mod?
Especially interested in engine life...
I don't, man. Sorry.
Or does any of your viewers know of anyone?
Which year is your MODEL ??
