Hot Glue + Soda Cans = Gemstones!

- Instead of using resin and store-bought bezels, let's make charms and gemstones using hot glue and soda cans!
Lots of shapes and colors are possible, so it's a useful idea for cosplays, jewelry and more.
Yes, resin is awesome, but it can be expensive, hard to get or tricky to work with. So let's see what we can do with hot glue!
I learned a lot myself making this video. Soda cans are an underrated crafting material and it turns out they work well in combination with hot glue.
This is almost like a part 2 to my previous hot glue charm video:

Fun stuff. Word of caution though - that step where you run your thumb along the thin metal strip to shape it? Don't do that. Put a wadded cloth or something between your thumb and the strip, so it gets sliced up instead of your thumb. Voice of experience here.
Good point!
Whenever I'm making anything from cans, I use a nail file/emery board on the edges - just to take that sharpness away. Doesn't take much, just a few quick runs down each edge makes all the difference.
Sharing in case it helps anyone else 💕👍
@@t-and-p спасибо! Мне ценно! Я ещё ничего не пробовала делать из консервний банок. А очень хотелось бы

Words to live by
Hehe indeed 😆✨
Everything's better with glitter!
I absolutely live by these words ✨
You are clear, precise, and hilarious! Thanks for showing us. 🙋🏾♀️
Hehe, that's very nice to hear! Thanks for watching ☺️
I like the multiple options you always have to do things, as well as the detail that goes into your work.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it 😊
Great, easy-to-follow tutorial and with such impressive results! I really have been seeing so much resin and acrylic blocks taking over all these craft spaces but I just can't get it or justify buying new craft supplies and to be honest, I'm not a huge fan of it. This is such a good and nice-looking alternative. :) Thanks!
Thank you very much ☺️ I totally agree! I'm glad you like it 😉 Thanks for watching!
That is sooo simple, yet so creative ! I've been drawing gemstones for a week on my sketchbook because I'm weirdly obsessed with them for some reason, your video appeared on my youtube page at the right time 😂💎
Haha! I'm slightly obsessed with them too 😉
У каждого, как говорится, своя песня!
Oh boy!!! Im so happy your video, popped up. I love these crafts, but I don't want to work with resin. What a awesome idea, and thank you. Looking forward to seeing, more of your creations. 😃
I'm really glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching 😉
I'm a jewelry making and I prefer using the real thing, IE real gemstones, real glass or crystal beads, etc. for my jewelry.
HOWEVER, I love your idea for using hot glue and aluminum cans for charms that might get a lot of handling or weathering. There are projects I wouldn't want to use the real thing, for example where I live it's extremely windy. Looks like something like this technique would be perfect for sun catcher charms for outdoors. I won't have to worry about the wind shattering my expensive real crystal or fancy glass. Thanks for sharing this terrific idea!
I agree, nothing beats the real deal, but it's nice to have cheap options 😉 So I'm glad you like the idea ☺️
So amazing! The way you make the gemstone-like stuff looks simple and worth a try. Thanks for sharing the video!
I'm glad you like it! Thanks for watching 😊
I use resin and wire but I love this! I might even get some glitter and coloured blue sticks from somewhere to use x
I'm glad you got some inspiration!
Resin is the way to go. This is bad advice. Hot glue will never harden like resin nor hold it's shine over time. For a one-time-only wear item, this could be okay.
Very creative. I hvnt seen any clear glue sticks so I’m glad u showed the cloudy painted 1’s. Will def’nly help in bejeweling my Carnival costume.
Cool ☺️ I'm glad you found it helpful!
Just found your channel and I love it! 😎💖 You have the whole package - creative, accessible ideas (using materials that are easy to find), explained clearly and concisely. Best part for me, though, is your sense of humour and relatability. Please never cut that out and make your videos too "slick" - your jokes and bloopers are what make you stand out from other channels. We normally get informative or funny, whereas you give us both.
Easiest choice ever to sub! I look forward to discovering more awesome ideas on your channel. Wishing you all the best 💕👍
This comment is the sweetest! 🥰 I shall never stop making stupid jokes! Honestly I'm having more fun that way too. Thanks for the wonderful encouragement 😄
Welcome to the channel and all the best to you too ❤️

What a fun, cute little craft. I wonder if you could use one of those wire jig tools to shape the can strips. TFS!

Very satisfying!
Great idea!!!

Does the hot glue stay firm and solid when the jewelry piece is out in the sun? Does heat affect the glue later on?
I love the idea I’d personally use resin instead because myself and the hot glue gun don’t get along. Burning myself and stringy. I do love them and envy you’re that good with hot glue!
Oh thank you! I would like to try it with resin sometime as well :)
actually pretty smart stuff, thanks for the idea

Biodegradable glitter is the natural, plant-derived version of the trendy shiny glitter that all of us know from school crafts, clothes, makeup, wrapping papers, and a million other products.
The ingredients that conform it are proven to be naturally biodegradable, opposite to regular glitter, which is made of plastic polymers that do not biodegrade in the natural environment, contributing to the microplastic pollution.
Lovely and entertaining ❤
I'm glad you liked it! ☺️

@@Randomona You are welcome🥰
I live in Texas where it gets hot. My experience has been the glue melts/softens in high heat. Is there something you can do to prevent it from remelting?
Nah it will always melt that's the thing with hot glue , for this issue ur better off with resin
very creative idea
Thank you!
Ótima ideia
Obrigada!
Wow this is so beautiful n easy
Thank you! 🥰
How do you keep from cutting yourself? Those cans are SHARP!
I noticed that it's more likely that I poke myself rather than cut myself. So as long as I keep cutting the can neatly and don't leave pointy bits sticking out, I'm fine!
@@Randomona I'm sure a sharp blade or scissors helps!! They're sure beautiful when you're all done!!
What a fantastic ideer
Thank you! 😊
Exelent !
Thank you! 😊
I love this, its just that I am afraid I will slice my fingers!
If you don't have sandpaper an emery board or nail file might work.
I understand the concern. Just so you know, soda cans are more likely to poke you than to cut you. I have never cut myself, but poked myself a few times. You could wear gloves when taking apart the can and when you have a smooth sheet with straight lines, you're much safer!
Gracias muy buena la forma de elaborar
Muchas gracias!
Awesome
Thanks!
Thank you,
You're very welcome!
So beautiful idea

hi! this tutorial is very easy and accessible to everyone! I just have a question
can you make the shape more refined? like the edges and facets of a real gem?
if you can tell me how to make those I would be very grateful for your response! :)
I love you content btw, please continue making these videos they're entertaining and creative
have a nice day!
I'm so glad you like my videos 😊
Hm I think this method is probably not the best for facets.
This method is probably better for that:

ay llegué a sentir el dolor de la quemadura en 1:41 😆😢 que bonito trabajo 👏♥️ ¿crees que la luz pase a travez la silicona? de ser así la silicona podría bañarse en glitter antes de secarse y dará un efecto mágico lumínico ✨
Jaja, gracias por sentir mi dolor 😆♥️creo que sí! buena idea 🙂
