The art style of this game, 2D pixel art on a 3D landscape, is very reminiscent of Octopath Traveler or Triangle Strategy (which themselves where intended to be reminiscent of old school classic pixel art).
Yo Haelian, Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 comes out this week. Not sure if you played the first one but it's kinda like this but with classes and like unlimited metaprogression. Also thanks for pointing me to Magicraft. That game is literally Noita meets Hades with Hammerwatch puzzles and stuff thrown on top and I love all those games.
@@DavidSmith-mt7tb I know that most people don't care about this kind of stuff, but after the developer abandoned the half-baked and bug-ridden Hammerwatch 2 (sure looks like a cash grab), I'll never consider buying one of their games.
@@ancho-31337 reading some reviews, it looks like they were potentially not allowed by the publisher to update the game anymore? Which sounds crazy but they're now self publishing HoH 2, as they did with Hammerwatch and Heroes 1 and those are both Very Positive on steam, so we'll see how that turns out.
This kind of game is right up my alley, but it seems that they have some work to do when it comes to controls and polish. Apparently you can't rebind keys, and the control scheme isn't dual stick?
An average roguelike has grids, turns, and doesn't play like Diablo. Maybe you're conflating roguelike with roguelite. This is an ARPG and has virtually nothing in common with roguelikes.
Literally from the game's website: "The Rangers in the South is a roguelike ARPG in which multiple generations of adventurers try to defeat a demon lord causing chaos in the world."
@@merlinwarage If I claimed to be the ruler of planet earth and my friends vouched for me would you do the same? Developers don't have the authority to decide what genre their games falls under if they contradict the definition of the genre.
@@rzrx1337 But you have the authority, right? Sure. Btw I bought the game, and there is meta progression in the game, when you die you lost everything and start a new character with your previously stashed gear and activated meta stats. So this is a rougelike.
@ Meta progression is a hallmark of roguelites, not roguelikes. The best description of roguelikes is the berlin interpretation, it's quite lenient and uses likeness (and unlikeness) to popular roguelikes as part of its criteria.
Why does the character look miles away from the camera? You have to squint to see the player. Roguelikes are not for me. I mean, is it so hard to move the camera closer to the player?
Why do you refuse to fill up hunger? You have 4 bars and you have 10 pieces of meat but will only eat 1 to fill up 3 bars. I'm sure it's better if you are full. This was hard to watch.
there was a lever to pull in a random room in that first dungeon. probably made those weird walls come down
yes. The one on 23:23 I believe
It was exactly that.

thanks for the info about HoW2

He said theat at 16:00min as well… looking for stats, ignoring the stats displayed on screen
The amount of great games I've discovered thanks to you is phenomenal
I've bought more games because of Haelian than literally any other TH-camr. There are so many great Indie games that you just don't see.
Haelian my man you left SO many xp orbs on the ground dude! My poor heart can't take it
Haha, chasing bonus streak XP but missing all the dropped XP. Didn't make sense to me
Came here to see if anyone else was hurting 😅
Thanks for showing this one, looks like I might enjoy it. Definitely will try it 😁
love to see a part two
This game looks fun and cute! Thanks for the recommendation! 🎉
neat little game! curious to see what the other classes are like and if they're substantially different at all 👀
Pretty sure you missed the lever in the dungeon at 23:21
DUDE this art style is so cool, would be sick if it was an mmorpg
Try realm of the mad god
@@fysean Thanks for the suggestion, but, this seems a little different as its 2.5D and i like the art style more
Looks super cool might have to give it a try.

I'll definitely be giving it a try! Lots of great games on the horizon.
Reminds me of realm of the mad god
I was on the fence until I saw whirlwind. Ok I’m in. (Long time Diablo 2 player)
What does the "basic controls" show you when you were trying to figure out buttons at 16:25 ?
Looks like a good game for steamdeck if they make controller support

@@ancho-31337 that's what I'm waiting for too. This game looks like fun.
You should level up before opening the chests so that the item levels spawn at your level or above. Might not work that way but no reason not to.
I hope this game comes to Nintendo switch
The game only offers about 2 hours of gameplay
only 2 hours? I was thinking about buying it but I gave up...
how i can invite for my party?
Yeah u are definitely leaving behind the exp glowy stuff a lott, it doesn't seem to follow u after a certain distance.
Hey Haelian, did you think about trying PoE2?
I did but it would be quite the investment of time to really get into it. I enjoyed the first one when I played many years ago.
its boring to watch it
but fun trying the game playing it yourself thanks for the video

I got a power up that gives me defense when holding 10 meat...
