The only car that I regret selling was my 81 GTV6. Not long after I bought it I was changing out the guibo’s and ran it for a bit without an exhaust on it. Pissed off the neighbors but was so worth it.
Entirely because of the trick exhaust. In fact all modern cars require fancy exhausts because the engines have sooo much sound proofing. You never hear proper engine notes anymore, only exhaust notes (and yes, they are two completely different things).
Jaguar V6/8 sounds absolutly amazing. But by far, my favorite engine/exhaust noise is the GT350. I cannot tell you how big a smile that put on my face the first time I drove that. So musical and amazing. Like a muscle car but different and almost Ferrari like? SO good.
Great content. I actually like V6's. I have 2, a 24v 3.0L Busso that sounds amazing, and a Audi 2.7t that is actually pretty cool (probably due to the 5valves) although not a symphony. I was surprised that you didn't highlighted the sound of the v10s. Keep those discussions coming.

The reason the Busso V6 sounds so good is that the lead designer used to work for Ferrari, and was a chief engineer for the venerable Ferrari V12. He took his know-how from there and applied it to his design for Alfa Romeo.
I've had an Audi 4000cs quattro and a '93 S4 -- both powered by 5-cylinder motors. I'm currently driving a 2004 Volvo S60R -- yet another 5-cylinder. That warble, the exhaust thrum.. Alfa Romeo's 6C V6 (Busso) was a pretty strong engine, but not exactly reliable. There were issues with some productions that used a two-piece cylinder head gasket. I can also mention, the timing belt tensioner that leaks (there is a fix for that), you had to keep the exhaust valves properly calibrated, lest you wanted to ruin the cam lobes, valve train cover gasket leaks, and the water pump was a hit or miss. As a former Alfa mechanic, I know quite a bit. Yes, I still love them! I would consider purchasing a Milano Verdi Quadrifoglio. The engine sound was a great combination of both the intake design, valve train, and the exhaust. I've yet to hear a V6 that sounds better than AR's. The 3.0 liter makes power all the way up to the redline. You guys did not mention that a V6 engine allows for the possibility of making the car a front mid-engine configuration, for a lower polar moment of inertia. It is fairly easy to keep the engine, even with accessories, behind the front axle.
Is that the Pininfirina Battista behind Tam hyphen Scott?? Is that the same one in the Alfa Romeo Westlake Dealership? I saw one in the showroom when I was getting my car serviced. Also the Giulia 2.9 V6 sounds really good :)

A long time gifted and known Alfa and exotic mechanic preferred the 2.5 above all other versions. Not just the sound, but the inherent balance of the engine. @@JasonCammisa I'm just extremely happy to have you back on our screens. Last two and a half years have been terrible for your fans. Instagram reviews are good but not as good as your videos. Keep doing what you do best: talk honestly about cars.
Just for sound, it saves not enough length or height or is similar enough to other concepts to be of any use (with straight 6 and 4's you can use dimensions and tools for making the block or head that are similar, and even with a straight 5 you can do that, but not with a VR6)
I agree on the Camry v6! I drove a sienna at work and that engine sounded pissed lmfao. So sad the first gen nsx didn’t get a mention 🤦🏻♂️ busa engine sounds godly. And vq has to have a stock exhaust to sound good they get raspy with aftermarket and sound like a trombone
What about the '89-'95 Yamaha tuned Taurus SHO V6? The mechanical noise is amazing. My '89 SHO has the firewall insulation and carpeting deleted, so you get tons of mechanical sound, and it's great.
Honda or Acura has 60 degrees V6s. 8 had Acura CL type S 6mt and it sounded really good especially with comptech exhaust. Even better with Comptech root style supercharger
I cannot fathom that you talked about straight 6's and never mentioned Jaguar. Also, the BMW large straight 6 beginning in the late 60's, also a great sounding engine. And the Busso? Yes, forever.
I believe the original V6 was a narrow angle SINGLE head Lancia design. Recently I heard the head was flat and the pistons were recessed instead for the chambers. Lamborghini used this method in the car that followed the Espada. Best sounding V6 street engine to my ears is the Toyota motor used in the Lotus 400 & 410 Sport. Busso V6 do sound good too
Nice banter, gentleman. Look up Saab Turbo X....single turbo 2.8 V6, sounds glorious especially in stock guise or with a downpipe. That Saab V6 (b284 or lp9) was made in Australia (Holden fisherman bend)in the same plant as the Alfa V6 (fun fact).

Not sure if I can link it, but this is a pretty good example from my car.
The M276 V6 in the C43AMG sounds so much better then every I6 BMW built after the N54.
Just found this channel tonight. Im in
Honda or Acura has 60 degrees V6s.
I going to throw my hat in to the V6 debate and add the Ford GT in to the good V6 mix!
Mazda K series V6 sounds phenomenal!
My E92 325i (N52 engine) with M-sport exhaust is sweet music to my ears.
Keep'em coming, Jason.
Busso V6 do sound good too
Where's the link to that Evora hillclimb video?
Nice banter, gentleman.
Look up Saab Turbo X....single turbo 2.8 V6, sounds glorious especially in stock guise or with a downpipe. That Saab V6 (b284 or lp9) was made in Australia (Holden fisherman bend)in the same plant as the Alfa V6 (fun fact).
I agree. The TurboX V6 sounds fantastic, especially with some light exhaust work.
The Jaguar F-Type's V6 sounds pretty awesome
I’m shocked that wasn’t mentioned.
finally i found YOU AGAIN. the 1st time i saw jason it was in motor trend so i get a premium subscription just because he was amazing. Then he left so i stopped watching them. now i find you again in my new fav channel
Yessss FINALLY someone else agrees with me on the 2gr Toyota v6 sound!!
Could watch this all day. Love both of you guys. Sad that my 370Z is a packaging solution 😓
That VQ's exhaust note though... 🤤
Love to "straight to it, just two guys having a conversation" feeling to it, don't really mind the background noise and people either.
Or the puppy? D'awww the puppy!
@@JasonCammisa Absolutely loved seeing the dogo too, can he get featured for the next episode? Lol
My favourite and i think the greatest v6 is hondas C30A/C32B. It was smooth, sounded great and revved to 8.000+. Alfas busso is a close second though.
Adam we love you keep the videos coming.
Derek, which problems did you had with the Alfa 164 Busso? Thinking on buying a rare QV 24v Q4...
Thanks in advance
Wonderful DUCATI T-shirt.
Absolutely brilliant!
Like the long named dude attitude to the EV, Jason please never say again Tesla is an answer to anything! as It become the root of all problems.
I don't know what would be the exact format and if you going to have different guests, but just a day ago I was watching an old Quick drive episode on Motor trend with Carlos Lagos and you. He deserve to have few words and that particular episode for C63 AMG should be in the bible of the motor journalism as both of you have some seriously right conclusions.
Any way, Great stuff here! Keep going!
Keep it coming
