Thanks mate, Nothing makes me more happy than seeing the old man break a PB while fishing for yellas! He still talks about it and will for a while i believe, But that is what fishing is all about 👌 Yeyeyeye 🙏

What would you say is the best way you have tried cooking Yellowbelly? I feel i would want to taste the fish for what the fish is and keep it light for the first time
@@juzadventures I've only tried deep frying pieces in an asian style salt and pepper batter and then finely chopping a chilli on the top. However I have to say that it does detract from the natural flavour of the fish. I think also with yellow belly that the larger the fish the more fat thats on the meat, and the detracts from the taste.
If you go back and watch all my yella videos you will see this is the only lure i use for yellowbelly when it comes to spinnerbaits and also the same lure out fished my little lures on the yellas in the same video my old man caught this cod in. We clearly were targeting yellas and cant help if the lures are eaten by other species. The fish i do believe had spawned already as it was super skinny and was sitting in under 1m of water feeding and by chance we happened to catch it. Was awesome to see fish that big and we made sure to take awesome care of here while handling and she swam off beautifully. If you want to catch yellas try some bigger spinnerbaits in the deeper water to hold the bottom and find you will increase catch rates.
@@TobysfishingNoutdoors Shove off you cheeky little bastard. You don't know the cod rules? Don.t try to act big if you don't know what you are talking about. There.is my subscription gone.
@@mudbutton2 I agree mate 👌 I have caught hundreds of yellowbelly on this exact size lure and even redfin as small as 30cm will eat them so why not throw the lure that works 🎣 Have you been you for a fish recently chasing yellas and had any luck?
Cant help the fact we catch BIG cod chasing yellas in a waterway you can fish in all year round. Hundreds of people catch cod that don't post them but then go and comment on peoples pages that do upload anything to with cod in closed season and says its wrong haha Sit at home and don't fish if you are scared of catching 1 cod during closed season a year. Still should be a moment looked at by everyone as a moment of a lifetime but instead people thinks its wrong free casting a cod while catching yellas when people catch these fish all year on the livescope and people love it.
You were clearly targeting yellas and the cod was a great by-catch. But i read Leigh’s comment to be about taking the cod out, measuring, photos etc, as opposed to perhaps a quick photo and release in the water.
@@SJD1976 😂 Go complain to your livescope mates and not someone like me who cares more about these fish then you and anyone who comments on my videos. The fish is fine mate you can all stop crying now 😢 😆
@@PhillipWhite-uz3wu You would be crazy to actually target cod during closed season even if they are small ones in my opinion. Bait fishos i would assume catch a lot of cod during the closed season and as much as i disagree with bait fishing i never mind if someone gives it a crack and needs to do surgical work to remove the hook from a big cods mouth as long as the fish is handled correct which shouldn’t matter in or out of season do what you need to do, keep it wet and safely remove hook its no rush mate, Why rush and rush when the fish needs to rest as well and also keep it boatside or even in the water like we did. if you need to remove hooks or lures then do so correctly like i did and if you need to show it off then get vids and release it healthy like we also did 👌🎣

Didn't think you would be casting large spinnerbaits in the cod of season. If that fish hasn't spawned yet, it won't now.

Shouldn't be to take them out of the water this time of year it's wrong

good example of handling a cod at this time of year, and not a livescope in sight!
Leave cod in water if you catch one out of season, remove the hook in the water and let it swim off you grub

Hopefully by then the river has settled and the fish become more active and we can start getting the 15-20 yellas a day 🤞🙏
