Fitz is the sidecharater I remember best from when i was a kid. So he must have been a good char. Because I could not speak english and hardly follow subtitles by that age.
Great villain, one that actually pushed Macleod too, got the best of him one time and got close to winning their first fight. Lost at the end as had a rubbish sword, a factor anyway
The 2 immortals that actually came the closest to besting MacLeod (best to my memory) were Grayson and Kronos (in the flashback as Melvin Korren), it's a shame they didn't keep them around longer, and when you think about it, after seeing the fight with Grayson. It was a little ridiculous how Mac won. There are a couple villains that realistically MacLeod would be no match for. Grayson and Kronos being 2 of them. At least when Richie beat Mako it was very realistic in the sense that he was VERY outmatched and flat out got lucky.
@@GeddyLeeBell Grayson was such a wasted character, I get why it happened though, it was the 1st season and they had no way to know it would become a long-running series but besides the fact that Duncan had no business beating an Immortal of such power so soon they killed off a character that could easily had been the final enemy of the series, Grayson gets delayed enough by Duncan so the police arrives and he has to go into hidding and returns in the endgame of the series, even the sole episode he appears sets up that possible scenario. I find more believable that he was able to beat Kronos, at that point of the series he already had the Quickening of a lot of powerful enemies like Martin Hyde, St. Cloud, etc and even if he is young unlike most old immortals, like Grayson and Methos, that barely participate in The Game Duncan has been very active in it most of his life which does a lot to make up for their difference in age.
@@bensonen6855 I agree, season one was solid but there was some lost potential there, I wonder if it was uncertainty about being renewed what made them close storylines so soon then or if it was the illness and death of Darius' actor what made them wrap anything related to him and give it no further exploration beyond some passing mentions from then on.
Yeah xavier was more about escape and getting away nearer the end so kalas might have the advantage with pure aggression but xavier was maybe the most versatile swordsman in the series
Kalas was was not much better, preferring to blind side his opponents outside the sanctuary or running them down with a car before beheading them. Xavier didn't display much cowardly tactics with other immortals prior to teaming up with Horton, though just because the series didn't show much of it, prior to the unholy alliance, doesn't mean jack. 99% of the people he was shown to have killed with the gas were all mortals, the 1% being MacLeod during WW1 in which he didn't even know there was an immortal until Mac just woke up, and then failed to take his head do to potential witnesses.

Imagine being McCloud and having to helplessly watch your centuries old friend be beheaded and consumed by this monster. Great villain!
He is such a bastard in this series. What absolutely speaks for his qualities as an actor, of course.

Roger Daltrey: great musician, but you can tell he barely knew which end of the sword to hold . . .
In all his fight scenes, he used a completely different type of Sword, that's a lot to keep up with if you're not an expert.
Give him a break. They can’t all be expert master swordsman.
Kalas seemed like he got high from quickenings.

@@Sealdeam grayson should have had at least as many episodes as Kalas, he deserved to be a season long villain

@@GeddyLeeBellI also felt that Hyde, and Consone where difficult fights. Clay, Ward, Kurlow, and Xavier were also very memorable
Such a fantastic bad guy made the show even better

I knew Kalas killed Fitz, but I really don't remember the scene here. Guess I missed an episode in spite of having seen the rest 5 or 6 times each.
