Is there other foods you feed your arowana I have a albino and he doesn’t seem to like the sticks anymore
KEV!!!! Omg The 450 Looks absolutely amazing. The color that the Discus bring to the tank is gorgeous! Every time Kev you never cease to amaze me! Shout out to Seachem with the PRIME though! I really enjoyed this video. Thanks Kev for all the hard work you put into the Fish Cave you are indeed amazing. I look forward to watching the 450 reach its potential. Keep up the great work. We appreciate you Kev!
Thank you bro! Your feedback is very appreciated 😁💪
Manito, your willingness to share your mistake is priceless. Most people wouldn’t and this allows us to continue to learn ✊🏽✊🏽
Thank you bro...I try to show the real side of the hobby as best I can. The ups and downs. 💪
You can also get small slotted baskets that float, put the blackworms in it and set it in the tank and the worms will slowly come through the slots like a slow feeder. It helped my buddy with his fish because a couple fish would gobble them all up and the other fish wouldnt get a chance at them. Check out worm feeder cone options for your big tank
I Love your new Discus Kev! Love the colors! They are a nice addition to the 450! Looks amazing! Your Fishkave is Amazing!!! Enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing! ❤❤❤😊
Glad you enjoyed it Lori! And there’s still plenty of room for improvement 😁😁😁
@@KaveManAquatics ☺️❤️❤️❤️❣️
My first round with discus didn't go so well... Getting a bigger tank with a sump for round 2.... Good stuff brother
I always watch your channel. Such beautiful fish and beautiful tanks. Happy holidays ⛄
Thank you!! Same to you and yours! 😊
Wow! Your tank looks so good!
Thank you! 😁
Hi kev!.. I recently addicted to ur videos. More knowledgeable! Great keep going.
Love from India🇮🇳
Glad you like them!
The 450 looks great bro . Finally crystal clear ,, took a while
Did the one yellow one not make it?
Some nice looking Discus right there !
Thank you bro! 😊💪
The arrowanas are spectacular but the addition of your discus makes that tank so mesmerising. Have a very merry xmas Kev and thank you for all the good information .
Thank you bro! I've had the vision for a while and still trying to implement it. More Discus coming soon! 😊😊
I love these new discus babies and i could totally watch a 10-hr compilation of Flaco and Blanco eating!
💥💥💥 I've been out of the industry for a while, and it seems that the itch is rearing its head again. So I've been watching too many of these fish videos. So with that being said I've a method for acclimateing sensitive and delicate fish to a new tank.
#1 After opening the bag, roll the top down into a doughnut shape so it floats on the surface of the aquarium.
#2 drop in a mild flowing air stone. This will help defuse the biult up ammonia and airiate the water for the fish.
#3 Add aquarium water to the bag every few minutes until the bag no longer wants to float. (This next step is equally important.)
#4 instead of pouring the fish into a net. Remove the fish from the bag With your hand as a net will remove body slime and pull scales. Pulling scales will allow dieses to have access to your fishes body. Also the spines from one fish can penitrate another fish like a knife mortality wounding it and you will never see it.
#5 remove and discard the bag with all of its contents from the Aquarium as there may be stuff in the bag that your not aware of.
Good luck and looking forward to your videos.
How exciting!! They are so beautiful!! This makes me excited for my move. I’m in the process of moving out of my apartment into a house where I can have bigger tanks. It’s about to get crazy!! Great video Kev!!
Im excited for you too! Once you go big tanks you never go back 🤣💪
That tank is beautiful. Thanks for showing the content.
Thank you! My Pleasure! 😊💪
Stunning combo!
Thanks! 😁💪
hey wasup kev awesome tank I I learn a lot from your channel you make it easy to understand / hey question I have a 75gal African cichlids tank and I a fx6 an a 704b canister as well do you think that's too much Filtering I have about 21 / 22 peacocks an about haps
They look great!! Thanks for sharing and I'm looking foward to some more discus videos!
Thank you bro. And yes absolutely! 😁💪
KEV! You’re the man, love the app! Could you possibly show some love to the Tanganyikan Cilchids soon? Such as the Brichardi, julies, shell dwellers, Calvus & the catfish of the lake 😏
Discus look great in the 450. Never seen them mixed with arowanna. I’ve always wanted to try discus. I used to use safe bc it’s so cost effective. But i realized it’s not exactly the same as prime. Safe doesn’t remove heavy metals from the water. Prime does. So I switched back to prime.
All your tanks and fish are beautiful ❤ the video thankyou
Thank you!! 😁
Man that red!!!! That Scarface part lmao
lol, Glad you liked that! Almost didnt make the cut 🤣
@@KaveManAquatics perfect timing!! Lol it was perfect
Your not worry about the a glass 450 … I’ve even seen a 125 glass bust open .. we where helping on a commercial for pop tarts when the 125 busted open 😂
Beautiful addition!!!!
Thank you brother Mark!! 😊
Keep up the good work 450 looks awesome
Thank you! 😁👍
Kev great work on ya discuss iv got 6 meself and ya right Iv found them really easy to keep
Thank you bro! 😁
Gonna be gettin meself a fx6 soon too iv got a 500ltr tank running a fx4 and betta canister not sure wot the power is on that and im still not happy with how clear me water is,,,so just savin a fx6 to put on me tank too hopefully that will help
Ohhh and I also have 2 sponge filters and still can't get floating in air fish ha ha ha,,,bought your book too so all I can think is the amount ov fish iv got is to much for the filters plus I can have wave makers as your well aware I can't cause ov the discuss
@KaveManAquatics wots the best way to make a fx6 just into a polishing beast iv got 2 other filters thats got enough bio media in them,,,,I cant have a hang on the back filter cause I have rimmed glass around my tank so lookin into just makin a fx6 into a polishing machine
Hey Kev , I sure was loving the visit to Atlanta , and it's not even a question that you will be very happy with your pond , especially when you have Ozzie over for a pre game visit to check out the KOI KOVE 🏝️
Totally agree! 😊💪
@@KaveManAquatics my first thing I would highly recommend is GOOGLE
" Before & after "
Nature style ponds and water feature images
I bought my driftwood from Global Fish ( They have a great selection). They are extremely helpful and their fish look in great health. Glad that I live 30 mins away from them.
Anthony has a lot of room at the shop. Have them quarantine them for you since you promote the shop😊
They were already quarantined at the shop. Thats another reason why I let them out after only 1 week. My quarantine was more for just letting them settle in and making sure they ate before going in the big tank. 😊
The pigeon blood/red discus is a stunner. Rare to get over here in Aus
Thank you! Went back Yesterday and grabbed 2 more of those! 😁💪
good man! i have a spare tank ready to go. but unsure of i want to do with it yet. was thinking about a marine setup. couple of clowns and a lionfish haha
@@KaveManAquatics
Nice discus !
Thanks bro! 😊
@@KaveManAquatics How old are all your Discus now, are the new Discus similar age to the existing Discus ? They look to be doing well, nice appetites , good sized heads.
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you brother ZMAN!! 😁💪
Looks amazing, can’t wait until i start discus tank.
Thank you! You'll love them! Colorful and peaceful! 😊
When I like the video before it starts 😂😂😂😂😂
Love that! 🤣💪
Yeah we got it! You are good advertisement for seachem!
Thanks! Glad I made that clear! 😁
This is unrelated, but I don’t see a video on it from you. Which stands do you use? I’m getting a 40 gallon breeder, and my biggest fear is the stand being uneven or not able to support the weight and I come home to water all over my living room floor….Thanks in advance! 🤙🏻
I use the stand that comes with the tank lol Nothing special. I have Aqueon and CustomAquariums.com tanks and stands
Discus are so beautiful. Wish we had a tank for them.
They are! 😊 You can do it! 💪
Heh KaveMan how is your thinking on a saltwater system - you said a few weeks or months back you were SERIOUS about having a saltwater setup?
hey kaveman ever thought about doing a deep substrate with plants to help with the water changes
This 450 will get more plants added to help with nitrates, but nitrate removal is not the only benefit of water changing.
can you have wavemaker on low flow
Absolutely!
Great content kev!!! I live by prime and stability. Really all sechem products. I have to alter ph for guppies I use ro to be perfectly safe for my babies
Maybe one day I will be confident enough to have beautiful fish like discus🎉
Beautiful
Thank you
Hi kev, love ur videos man, just wanted to ask i have a fx6 for my 500 lt discus tank, do you think that's adequate or do you recommend running sponge filters aswel. Thanks bro 😊
An FX6 will be more than enough for your Discus tank. I would say no more than 10-12 Discus though.
Great video!! Thanks 🙏
Thank you! 😊💪
Hay Kaveman, just wondering 🤔 if you would ever put a pair of dovii in that big 400 gal tank you have. I would love to see that. That is of course, with none of the other fish that you have now in the tank
Na, I have a plan for this tank, its starting to come together 😊
Did the yellow one that was struggling in the beginning make it?
What kind of stand is that for the 29g quarantine tank?
Unfortunately not. I could tell early on he was struggling. I found that stand on Amazon, its great! Check it out - amzn.to/41nuUH6
👍🏻😎I'd love a nice Discus tank, but my tap water is 8.0 PH which is absolutely perfect for African Cichlids but not so much for Discus.
Hi, where you get live blackworm?
Hey was wondering if you ever kept discus with oscars or African chiclids or what all fish do you feel would be safe to keep with discus
Oscars and Africans would Tear up Discus. With that being said though I'm sure theres a tank out there somewhere successfully doing it.
Did u get new discus from same breeder,if not be careful cause they can get bacteria infection also named discus plague
Hey mate, I bought a 6 feet tank which is 280 gallons, and I've a 4 feet sump system, I'm planning to put some arowanas (may be 3) tmrw, I watched ur videos about fish in cycle and bought prime and stability and ive a doubt, when should i need to water change? If nitrates exceeds 40 PPM?
i know im not kaveman but ive done the fish in cycle successfully and the only time you should do a water change is if your ammonia levels are anything more than .50ppm and .25ppm nitrite, you wont have nitrates during this time (unless your tap water has nitrates in it like mine) that comes at the end of a successful fish in cycle, just keep dosing prime and stability everyday DO NOT miss a day, the next time you do a water change is like i mentioned at the end of a successful fish in cycle and you know its successful when you test your water and the results are 0 ammonia 0 nitrites and usually somewhere like 40-80 nitrates, once you do the water change i would keep dosing stability everyday for the next 5 days
Awesome bro 👍
Thank you! 😊
Hi Kev. I been looking in Amazon for that bowl with the strainer for the bloodworms and can't find it .
Can you share the line or the name.
Gracias
If you see something I'm using in a video always check the videos description. I usually leave a link there 😁 Here's the strainer - Blackworm Storage Case - amzn.to/3NlDz73
Even in quarantine tank need to include physical barriers (plants, driftwood) to give hidding places to reduce aggression.
Hating so much you can’t see the big a$$ rock in the tank? 🙄
I would kill to have a discus tank in my room but I’m paranoid of busting my 100 year old houses floor out upstairs😂😂 just gorgeous fish
Yea that’s always a concern. Get with an architect to help you decide if it’s doable. 😁
Where you buy the large container of metroplex???
Are those black worms live? Can I keep beneficial worms in my tank?
@KaveManAquatics what geopphagus kind is that in the tank with the arowana?
Sveni, Red head tapajos, and heckeli 😁
@@KaveManAquatics thank you Kev❤
hello i have a well set canister but still my tank water is foaming up at the top and the tank is not over stocked
How long do you run the wave maker in the discus tank per day?
I keep it at 10% all day and run it at 80% for 1 hour for nutrient removal.
What is the sand in the aquarium, what granulation? Greetings from Slovenia
Wait, I missed the water temperature of the quarantine tank.... how did you warm it up for The discus
I mix the hot and cold at the tap before sending it to the tank.
What medication did u used for quarantine?
For the Discus I used Seachem Cupramine
Thank you so much
You have the best channel ever
I have 6 about the size of my hand in a 150 gallon. 20% water changes each week and temp at 78. I think the information should be more of a range rather than a standard .... every fish, and everyone's aquarium is diffrent
Is ok to medicate if you think u might have something. Like will it harm the fish if all is good or am I good if I think there might be something??
If you're using mild meds, yes its fine. I auto-medicate my new fish with Seachem Metroplex and Paraguard.
@@KaveManAquatics I just watched your video when you were medicating your fish and I went ahead and ordered it cuz you said it takes care of a lot of things. thank you for your reply. I watch all your videos. you are the one that helps me get my tank right, right. The right way. keep up the good work bro you do it with no BS no sugar coating, No capping. Fish life 4 life..
What recommendation do you have if I have to go away for a week for feeding of discus?
Dont worry about it. Water change before you leave and keep the lights off while you're gone. They'll be fine 😊
Discus definitely can be aggressive. I lost two guys recently because the other guy was a complete bully. I did not realize until later. Lesson learned.
Hey kev so is it safe to use paraguard and metroplex
Yes, that’s why I used them. lol
What happened to the stingrays???
My favorite fish
Hey Kaveman, what day do ub do ur lives & Q&A?
I do bi-weekly livestreams on Wednsday nights for my channel members. Here's more info on the extra perks members receive 😊 th-cam.com/users/kavemanaquaticsjoin
What did you feed the arowana, need help i dont dont what to feed my arowana
My guys eat northfin pellets, hikari pellets, freeze dried jumbo Krill and frozen brine shrimp 😁
Did the troubled Discus (yellow one in quarantine) recover or did he not make it?
Unfortunately he didnt make it. I could tell from the start he was having problems.
😢
You put them in cold tap water like that .. with just some prime???
It's warm water from my slop sink. I mix the hot and cold there before filling up every tank. 😊
@@KaveManAquatics ok I see … great video keep doin what you doin much respect
very nice
I'm Told At Several Petsmart And Other Locations I'm Over Stock On My 20 Gallon Aquarium No Way Is That Even True Also Kev I Made A Video Dedicated To You And Seachem On My Channel I Made A Short Video Just To Show You Are The Man Kev
Watched it, appreciate you bro! 😁💪
Is the black thats on them normal???
Some Discus can get peppered yes. Has a lot to do with the bloodline.
@@KaveManAquatics ok thanks so thats not a bad thing right?
Ahh i played the Discuss game once….never again lol
How do I get my discus to grow. I have a baby and it eats but I don't see growth, should I change feeding, food?
Feed 3-5 times a day and big frequent water changes.
Variety of the different food and water change once a week.
I water change once a week since I have only three should I do twice a week and I feed them vibra, beef heart and blood worms
The baby didn’t last why not sure but I have two that are maybe 3 and one large the two smaller are not getting bigger and I feed twice a day should I feed more
@@dawngreen7098 water change once a week , 25-30 % change. Feed your fishes with variety of food and I do not recommend blood worms. Many discus thats been eating blood worms gets whole in the head and internal parasites. Beef heart, flakefood, blackworms, granulates, vibra bites , etc are good food sources and mix it with some seachem nourish. Feed 4-5 times a day while they still are small
Don't need low ph for wilds either. They do fine in 7.0...I have 3 tanks of wilds at 7.0, no issues.
Thats excellent information! Thank you for sharing that bro! 💪
@@KaveManAquatics wilds are really hardy. Don't believe the myths.
@@corrieharris774 yea that I know! I’ve also seen wilds in tons of heavy flow still rockin 💪
@@corrieharris774 Im
Tempted to turn up my flow on these guys and break more myths! 💪💪
@KaveManAquatics I wouldn't do that lol. Now THAT may really stress them.out.
Love ur tanks, but when you live in a building you alway run into the fear of ur tank glass cracking due to water pressures, heard a lot of stories of this, please talk about these situations
What's their country of origin? I heard Malaysia has the best Discus!
What have I missed where are the stingrays??
This happened - th-cam.com/video/Sevh80_ci5E/w-d-xo.html
Liking the "chincletas"
My favorite 🤣
What plants have worked for you at discus-temperature?
No disrespect I love your videos and maybe something you haven't thought of but if you can don't net them or spill them from the bag if you can avoid to 😊 the big net is understandable you can use a big cup to scoop them so they dont fall out of your hands as well and alot easier on them and I love the fact you do water changes
i thought discuss is hard to keep very sensitive its look like easy 😅
Not as hard as many think 😊
What products do you use while quarantine
ParaGuard and Matroplex. Both linked in the description or You can find all the products and equipment I use and recommend in my affiliate shop 😁 - koji.to/kaveman_aquatics
84 I got mine like 76🤦🏾 an I only feed once a day flakes an worms
Discus need much higher temps than that...get it up bro
@@KaveManAquatics soon as I got home I slapped that up 82 🤣🤣🤣 I appreciate you g almost killed my bday gifts I been waiting for years for 🤦🏾
@@KaveManAquatics question got like a 30 rimless wit the 2 discus an plants are the plants ok at the high temps🤔 an do I need a air stone or bubbler 🤔 or is everything good wit just the filter
Letsssss gooooooo
Wanna be a baller.. could name one the discus lil Troy lol
nice fish. if you know the trusted breeder u don’t need quarantine. You use lot of chemicals.
Stress from the move can harm the fish enough. This type of aquarium. Discuss/aero a limp disc struggling to make it? I Duno, a quarantine is probably best
So the one didn't make it I guess :(
None of the fish I have say are compatible 😅
Kaveman supposed to model best practices, but does not: why does he cut corners? keep fish in quarantine tank only 1 week (better 2 weeks-1 month); why not acclimate new fish by putting fish in water 50% from each tank for 20 minutes; bioload: added >10 discus at same time, could add half, wait 2-4 weeks, add other half
First of all, I ain’t SUPPOSED to do anything! I do what I want to do! This is my channel, my tanks, my fish. You don’t like it, don’t watch!
Second, I literally said I have a reason to empty my quarantine tank. If you payed more attention instead of straight hating you wouldn’t look for something to hate on!
I also SHOW exactly what I use to add 13 fish to a tank all at once but again, your hate blinds, dumbs, and deafens you!
Do us both a favor and don’t watch my content! Go to another channel that does what they’re SUPPOSED to do!
@KaveManAquatics ignore any hate fish look amazing, very happy and very healthy and that's the main thing 🤷🏻♂️ did the fish make it (the one who looked a bit rough from the travelling?)
@KaveManAquatics all the people you have helped and bring tanks out of the slums. This guy just wants attention keep it coming bro 💯
Your fish source have issue I think. The fish colour is bad
Highly disagree
What a stupid comment. Those fish look insanely healthy and he buys them in person from a reputable breeder 😂 gotta love comment section fish experts
They are under a bit of stress at the moment which mutes their color
What temperature do you set up your Arowana and Discus tank??
84
