Man, this match drained me. It took quite a while to learn how to use both decks, and even then I don't think I've completely mastered either of them. During playtesting, Fanglongmon definitely had an edge thanks to (1) Dragomon being virtually negated in this matchup, (2) cards like SkullSata/Creepymon that are intended to fuel Dragomon end up fueling Fanglong's descent instead, and (3) Levia's only answer to Fanglong are its 2 copies of Rivals' Barrage. So very honestly, after my initial rounds of playtesting, I fully expected Fanglongmon to win this round. However, I suppose the Deva/Sovereign deck's core weakness is that sometimes it has no choice but to give the opponent a lot of Memory - and with Memory comes possibilities. In a real-life tournament, those possibilities can sometimes lead to unoptimal decisions due to overchoice and not being used to being given so much Memory. But in the context of a casual match with no time limit, this gave me the opportunity to really sit and think about what plays Levia should make each turn - especially in terms of how to play around the Devas' negation of Dragomon. Couple that with Purple's draw power and a good amount of luck, and the outcome of this match was reached... Honestly, even with all of that going for Leviamon, all Fanglong needed to win was another Deva the turn they played Pajira...

Well this was an unexpected outcome. Whuch I'm very happy about. Meanwhile, as questions arise regarding the mystery of the purple wolf seen attacking the Digidestined, 2 of the Olympos XII sent to pursue Matt meet with the lone Kudamon.
Excellent outcome. It's a shame that the Sovereign/Deva deck didn't get to show off more, but honestly I'm somewhat bored of these gimmick decks. Digivolving is my favourite part of Digimon! I'd have been okay if Leviamon had lost, though, just because it looks like it may get another showing in the next tournament 😂 but man did it hage some cool tech, just a bunch or really interesting and unique effects combining together. THAT'S what I love! Purple is the coolest colour in this game!
I get that these are predetermined, but as a Deva player, I could see some of the flaws with the deck and play. -The deck could use ST Sistermon Blanc to add to the trash and get additional draws. -Gennai is invaluable in the deck. If you have Gennai on the field and a black Deva in raising, you have an invincible blocker until the moment an attack comes in. You suspend Gennai during an attack to raise the black Deva, then Blast Digivolve into a Sovereign in order to block. Depending on the Deva, this could handle one or two of your opponent's Digimon. -Generally, turn 1 is the best time to get Mother D-Reaper hatched. Pass turn using Analog Youth, Loyalty, or Sistermon. -My BIGGEST pet peeve was that you can place a Deva in raising from hand OR TRASH when you play a Deva on the field. I try to never bottom deck EX4 Antylamon and recycle it when it's deleted. Antylamon swinging with 23k DP at 2 checks is incredible. I've taken down the likes of Jesmon GX, GraceNovamon, and most recently TyrantKabuterimon with it. That's my rant. The Deva deck is by far one of the most consistent decks I've played even against BT15 and BT16 decks.
Kinda confused as to why Mother D-Reaper was in the Deva Deck, other than for flavor. She can’t attack and you don’t benefit from any of her abilities, right? That being said, I did have higher hopes for the Deva Deck. I’m sure it was really fun in all your playtesting, but it just seemed to kinda brick in this match, especially near the later half. I think the real nail in the coffin for me regarding Devas was that I feel like the card that got the most “use” was that Antylamon from Alternative Being. Which is great for that card, genuinely love that card, but unfortunate that other Devas didn’t get to show us their flair as well. (Not at all your fault, it’s just how the cards panned out)
1. Provides White to cast the Deva/Sovereign Options if you brick 2. Alliance target for Antyla 3. Can protect the Deva/Sovereigns from effects that target highest DP!
Can you Blast Digivolve the 4 Sovereigns to a Deva with different color than them? Example: Blast Digivolve to Azulongmon which is Blue/Yellow from Green Vikaralamon.
Nothing's stopping me really! But I don't believe in rigging matches just to get the outcome I want. I feel like that's not fair to the cards themselves. So I just try my best piloting both sides, but of course I can't deny that unconscious biases / lack of skill may influence my plays. And I mean, even if it's two players or a team making match videos, I don't think anything's stopping them from making suboptimal plays with one deck to showcase a desired outcome
Allows to use the options if you have no deva/four sovereign on field, and if the opponent tries to raid into your digimon mother becomes the target, instead of the other digimon in the deck
In my playgrp we just call the spell chomp bcos its funnier that way also cant say i didnt expect the outcome of this match but may i ask why didnt trigger the delay effect when fanglong came down with the spell i know he doesnt die but wouldnt it be better if levia came out from the trasg to sort of pressure them?
Fanglongs DP minus affects all opp Digimon until the end of the turn. If you Delay a Leviamon out in response to it, it is instantly deleted from 0 DP!
This was closer than I thought, but still the ending was what I expected. Can anyone explain the Mother D-Reaper eggs? I saw online people run them but I don’t understand why
You don't need an egg for the deck, but Mother D has a few benefits. It has high DP so can pull the target for things like Raid away from mote valuable pieces. IF you get it out, it'sa good Alliance target for EX4 Antylamon. And if your board is wiped and you need the color to play Loyalty, it fulfills the White requirement. You usually don't want to hatch it unless you have nothing to play into the Raising area on that turn, but it's a decent backup.
