  • Over the past few years of using a lanyard I have customized my layout to exactly what best suits my fishing style. From the time I first started using a lanyard in 2017 to the present day, my lanyard setup has changed significantly and I believe that I've fine-tuned the layout of my lanyard to my preferred specifications. In this video, I would like to share with you how I've constructed what I believe is the ultimate fly fishing lanyard! Hope you enjoy!
If you have any additional ideas on how I can improve this setup or would like to share a setup that works well for you, please tell me about it in the comments. I'd love to hear them!

After some really crappy lanyards I decided to make my own with quality parts. This is a great guide for what to look for and how to construct. I give this DIY guide 9/10 (I'd give it 10/10 but you need some better wine!)

Thanks for posting! Love these videos for tips & suggestions. Please do more hatch videos like the one you did for the grannoms last year. Loved how in depth that was! Really helps a beginner like me. Maybe a sulphur or march brown one? Just a suggestion. Love the channel this country needs more upstanding young men like you guys!

Great post, I especially like the Fishing Leader Line Holder Foam attachment, been pre-rigging with some poor methods, and this will help.

does that plastic piece need to be ridgid? semi-rigid? I was thinking of re-purposing a plastic cutting board that is pretty pliable.

How did you shape/cut the plastic?

What did you use on either ends of the bic pen to keep the tippet spools from sliding left/right?

Black tubing from the hardware store that had an inner diameter that matched the pen diameter. Just cut the tubing to about 1/2 and slide over the pen
