I have a Heron who visits occasionally here in England GB. My painting of it would have to be him sitting on the shed roof with one of my goldfish in his beak!!🙄🙄😬 I just don't know how it got through the wire grids on the pond ! so he's not my favourite bird at present but the are so lovely especially in flight. Thank you for sharing this lovely painting with us Ellen xx
I love this! I actually painted a Blue Heron a while back. Try painting it on rough paper. You would be delighted with the effect it makes on the feathers!
Life long Floridian and love all the tropical scenes you show us as well as ‘old Florida’, the Nature Coast, and all the shore birds. I have some nice photos along the Homosassa River I am hoping to turn into ink and wash. This is an awesome WC painting. Thank you for sharing.
My friend and I painted this over the weekend. It was so much fun and they came out great! Thanks for the tutorial. I've been wanting to paint a heron!
This was so much fun, but I was really glad when you mentioned the gouache at the end - it kind of rescued me! I live on the Upper Cape, and see Great Blue Herons every day on my walk. I can’t help but hum the theme to Jurassic Park when I see them! Thanks so much for another incredible lesson. You are a wonderful teacher!
Thank you Ellen for painting the Heron in watercolor! I'm new at watercolor and you've given such great instruction I'm going to go at this one. I've been practicing, practicing practicing technique from your tutorials. She's beautiful!!!! My most favorite of your acrylic/palette knife paintings is of the Blue Heron. But I feel it's way above my skillset right now,... maybe someday. Thank you for all your tutorials. acrylics and watercolor.
BEAUTIFUL Ellen!!!. Much nicer than the pic…I have a love hate relationship with white Herons, they slowly walk around my pond and eat pollywogs, unfortunately sometimes they stab my koi, so 😡❤
I know that drawing the bird shape is easy for most people but I always mess up on the head shapes 😂…they look like alien birds. I’ll just trace until I get used to them. I’m much better at people. Love this. I live in South Florida, so we see the herons a lot.
Definitely going to do this one. I have been having trouble with backgrounds, and leaving enough white, and it seems like leaving white in watercolour is essential!
oh thank you for this - the great blue heron is my "totem" animal - the are beautiful but my painting is not as beautiful as they are. But with your help, I can at least start!!!
This is beautiful, Ellen! A great project to highlight a striking limited palette and bird! Thank you!
Beautiful Great Blue Heron
thanks

I recently saw a group of blue herons in a circle, like they were having a coucil meeting. Great tutorial

Wow! I thought it was just me. At least I have some company 😂
think of the letter S! that might help!
I do love to paint herons, and will try this one.
Another bird I would like to paint is the Atlantic Puffin.
Tks Ellen for another great tutorial.❤
yay enjoy!
8:08 I have to give this Heron a go! We have many on our beach and flying over but I’ve never painted one😊

I have done this bird many times.❤

I am from SC. We have them everywhere. Could we possibly paint a Roseate Spoonbill? Thank you Ellen for your time and direction. 😊
humm will have to see what that is
It looks as though I am 4 weeks too late but this video was excellent. I was wondering with the white feathering if a gel pen could also be used?
Try it !
Well that's an answer and a good one at that
I would love a pelican tutorial!
Soo beautiful ❤

My idea for bird painting is a Scarlet Macaw
Is the bird a sandhill crane?
