This is 90% of my gameplay. A teen, on their own with no money and has to keep their grades up. I'm excited for this pack to punch things up a bit as things have become quite stale.
Tbh Im doing the same thing except im a single mom. Use cheats lol

In fact, I've done as many as 5 😆 There are a ton of ways to switch up the gameplay and I always find something to make it new or more challenging but you're right, it still gets boring after a while. Unfortunately I'm pretty bored with TS4 in general and this is the only gameplay that still has my interest.
For an added challenge, give the teen difficult traits, like high maintenance, and turn on every lot challenge. It’s a hot mess. You could also give them a toddler or two to try to take care of.

As someone from Midwest USA, the colored parking spaces are a tradition for seniors. Seniors were assigned a parking space and were able to paint it however they wanted to mark that it was their’s. We were a small school in the middle of nowhere though, so I’m surprised that EA used this kind of niche tradition.
(We also had drive your tractor to school day, but that one may have just been us)

I think it's some sort of state law that if you ride your horse to school the principal is responsible for it's care 😂 anywho, my school was very very very small. Not enough kids to really do the parking spots, but I know others around us do them. Along with bringing tractors to school. We used to have kids ride ATVs, but that was everyday.

I live in Ireland and we had students driving tractors to school every so often - I very strongly remember a classmate absolutely bombing it down the road in a small old Ford tractor because he was late lol

Honestly, this is probably an unpopular opinion but this high school looks soooo boring. What is the point in having an active school if you literally can´t do anything during class? Even with the normal school system, you can at least work hard, take notes and so on. It´s also really sad that you can hardly do anything on the sports field, not even run laps on the track. I think they should have concentrated less on the trendi thing and the D-pop collab and more on the school and more activities to do with school. I also wished this pack came with a principal, teacher and janitor career.
I so agree with you about that sports field! I was expecting to be able to jog around the track at the very least! All that real estate just for the tiny cheer mat?
I was hoping for 'disrupt class' or 'ask questions' or something that made the classes interesting and affected performance and possibly social.
I'm with you in this one. The school day is even MORE boring than the real thing, to me. As ADHD, even the few minutes in the video got me itching and fidgeting. There's not that much to do and I think, in my gameplay, I would just send the teen there and then go to de Pier and the city center to meet friends and do other activities. I was also hoping for careers for adults in this pack and that we could follow THEM to school and do stuff like grade notes, put people in detention, put teens to work with each other to try to make them become a couple, help with career, etc. Just the other side of the thing, you know? Like the Education Career of University, but expanded. The most interesting part for me is the Pier and the park and it made me wish SO HARD for more game dynamics with this theme. I also like the build and buy items, but I won't be buying this one until it's on sale. But then, I'm on the contrary side of the sims fandom as a whole, as I HATED the idea of a wedding pack and the idea of this one and I don't like much game play that mimics daily life.
I'm sure someone in the Sims community will make a mod that adds more to the high school pack, that's honestly how the game is still popular in my opinion. The different challenges, the custom content, the mods that add extra stuff. Otherwise, this game would have probably died out about 1-3 years after its release.
I like a lot of the teen interactions. I think the Trendi stuff is fun. But I agree that the school itself is lacking. The students just sit in class. There should be options like take notes or take a nap. Things that can positively or negatively effect your grade. In the very least. But of course if they could have expanded upon that and actually have beakers and stuff for your sims to experiment with?
I like the idea of this maybe being Reginald’s story before we see him in Werewolves? Then when he’s an adult he can rejoin with the current timeline with being an adult during the werewolves rage to riches. Then from there idk, if there’s any gameplay based packs at that point it would obviously lead to that. But even something like Reginald has children, and a partner, and Nina has children but doesn’t want them because she’s into being a lone wolf, so Reginald and his partner raise Nina’s child?
I like that idea. I do want to see highschool with a werewolf and a spellcaster. Obviously for now it has to be with a non-occult sim because pre-release James doesn't have the extra packs. When he has access to the full game again, I think playing with occults in highschool would be a lot of fun and more interesting than playing with human sims.
What if Reginald's partner is a vampire and he has 2 kids, a spell caster and vampire. Then Reginald becomes a single dad to all three moon occults when Nina's Gregnant child joins the household.
This is it. This is exactly how the series should go. I also second Reginald's future spouse being a vampire for the three occult kids thing.
And they all hang out with Nina's youngest sister because she's close in age to them

It’s common for seniors to paint their parking spot in the US. That’s why those spots are painted to the left of the high school!
That’s surreal to me as a Canadian. We just don’t have assigned spots for seniors. Also, not many students can drive alone until they are 17ish, so they don’t drive to school. My high school lot was small, mostly for the teachers. And you just parked wherever.
I was just about to comment on James thinking the spots were for the teachers😁. I never dawned on me that this isn’t common practice in other countries 🤯Hopefully this means ownable cars soon tho 🤞🤞

@@victorstone5601 In the Netherlands, you can only start driving lessons by 17, and most people have graduated secondary school by the time they have their licence. I only knew one guy in secondary school who could drive at all.

The parking lots being painted is an American thing. At some of our high schools the students can pay to decorate their parking spot in the student parking lot during their senior year.
My high school seniors just had the privilege of being allowed to pay for having a parking pass at all… no one had an assigned spot and we certainly couldn’t paint them. But at least we could drive ourselves, and when study hall period was first or last you could skip it and come late/leave early.
@@bookcat123 kind of similar for my school as well except they started paw painting last year. So you can buy a paw for like twenty bucks and decorate it however you please

@@BrendanP lol I'm from the US and I've never heard of this. But it has been a loooong time since I was in high school so it could be a newer trend.
We have thousands of schools here and things aren't universal. It's like the high schools seen on tv and in movies is not what a typical school is like even though that stereotype does exist in places. But the "US is something else" does hold

Just started a rewatch of this and im in awe of reginalds glowup from these early teen years.
James loves doing this type of challenge so much that at this point it's obligatory with every new pack lol

Reginald needs to start reacting to others' social bunny posts - his friendship level will go up faster with online interaction! Agree, those posts are cringeworthy!
Plus I think reacting to his own posts is what’s causing the false alerts on the phone - because his post has a “new” reaction.
I’m so disappointed they didn’t make the bleachers a spot where teen sims can “mess around”. Such a missed opportunity!
This is how I'm gonna basically play the game when I get it
Imagine if you could not only interact with the bleachers, but even woohoo under them. Would have been a fun place for teens to mess around
I know teens can't woohoo, but it would be fun to have something like "practice kissing" for them to explore

Maybe Kristina could age up into a teen and move in with Angus. Due to Nina choosing to remain in the werewolf lifestyle, Angus uses the money from the money tree, adopts Kristina as a care dependent, and they move to Copperdale to give her a chance at excelling in high school.
Great scenario and as an added plus, I get to see my name, spelled correctly, in James’s LPs. I’m still shocked the game randomly named a Bigwallet Kristina 😍

If Kristina (Hazel and Trenton's daughter) + her potential siblings ever appear in this LP, maybe the storyline can be that the underground vault of stolen goods gets discovered and now the whole family is on the run hiding from the authorities. They change their identities and start from scratch again, all while raising their teenage children in high school.
I'm really interested to see more parent-child dynamics in this pack because I feel like they play a huge role in teenage/high school life. If paired with the parenthood GP (curfews, disciplining, mood swings) I think it could be really fun and challenging gameplay!

not gonna lie i GET having teen only aspirations, but ide love some Elder aspirations they can do before they pass away, maybe simple ones like remembering the good old days, or perhaps one where you want to spend time with your family as a goal, or reconnect with old friends
To be honest, my elders are often still finishing up an aspiration chosen in adulthood.

One of the things I like most about people learning about American schools is the sheer number of parking spots. It is extremely common for someone to get their driver's license around age 16 (it can be earlier or later depending on what state they are in - 14 in some places!) so American high schools usually have a massive parking lot for students.
My particular school would do raffles for charity where you would enter to win one of the first 10 parking spots near the front of the school.
The big difference to me is not that Americans get their licenses early, but that they're still in high school at that point. In Canada, we get licensed at 16 but we also graduate high school at 16. I think Americans graduate at 18? I was moved out and halfway through college at that point. The education path is soooo different.
I wasn’t sure about the thrift store and bubble tea store being a combo lot type, but thinking about it, it could be a fun way to make two functional separate stores next to each other, which is something I’ve always wanted to do but just accepted there would be no way to do it. I think it could be impractical for some people or on some lots, but I’m excited at the idea of making something that looks like two separate stores, that is also both functional :)

Ok hear me out. When he grows up; Reginald adopts other troubled youth who are on their own like he was. He would probably have to adopt child Sims and grow them up since the Sims doesn't think teenagers need adoption but still
So fun to see Reginald get his own rags to riches LP! So glad that I have MC command center so that I can increase the number of allowable Sims on a lot. Looking forward to seeing all of the renovated high schools that people come up with. My only sad thought is that you can’t put high schools in other worlds… I wish it was a lot type and not just a specific lot. Anyway thanks James! 💜💜
for the storyline maybe reginald cloned himself when he was a teen (because he is a spell caster n stuff) and this sim is the clone but he isn’t a spell caster and his personality is a bit different because reginald wasn’t that good at magic when he was a teen
When I get this pack the first thing I will do is build my own school I want a proper school gymnasium with basketball nets and everything might add a pool tho it likely wont be used but it will fill up space I'm gonna make a nice cafeteria too and maybe more classrooms for a fuller feeling and proper school vibe lol ahhh theirs quite a few things I could add ^-^ I thoroughly enjoyed this video! I cant wait to try this game for myself when it's out :)

Once Reginald finishes high school, you could move Kristina in with him. Since she currently lives in a different world from the school, she could move in with her cousin to be closer to the school/attend a different school. Would be an easy way to keep going with the series without having to have Reginald begin his own family.

I'm actually pretty excited for this pack.
I normally don't care about new stuff being added to the Sims being a werewolf is fun. Being a vampire is fun being a Spellcaster is fun.
All the stuff they've added over the years have been enjoyable but they never really flashed out one specific age group.
The Parenthood pack helped with toddlers to teenagers a lot and the stuff packs gave them stuff but this pack is actually for teenagers which is really cool.
Headcanon that Reginald left the Realm of Magic house because they never did get it remodeled completely, and he didn't have a big boy bed :P
He's been sleeping on the sofa since he was a child, that's why he was so comfortable on the bench. He's never had a real bed since he can remember.
It must be really hard to play with a socially awkward Sim when you're normally a social dynamo :D
Just now starting this series ( a year later, oops... ) and got so excited when I seen Anjelo Morlind when Reginald was at the pier! Anjelo is my sim's husband in my current save and I forgot that he is a high school years townie.🤩

Adult Reginald goes home for the weekend to visit mom. Column says “I’ve been working on this new spell, check it out.” Zap, Reggie is a teen again… “MOM, I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU JUST DID THAT TO ME. The least you can do is let me have one of the money trees.” To which Column replies with a laugh and shews him out the door.
I dont think I have ever laughed this much watching a Sims video. Cant wait to se the rest of this series☺️
As a user experience researcher: I am SO glad they made the rewards store button more obvious! Before I started following Sims TH-camrs I had played for years but never knew about the restore 😅

This is the first time I've ever seen painted parking spots. That option has to be specific to individual schools. It could also be a recent trend.
My small town school didn't do this.
We could use the side parking lot when we got our license between ages 16-17, so they were mostly for Juniors, Seniors, and teachers. We just had to find an open spot and pray it wasn't out in the back 40 if you were late. My Senior year is when I started driving to school. I wish I'd had the opportunity to buy a spot and decorate it. My ADHD self could have gone nuts with colors and designs.

For your LP, use MCCC to let the amount of Sims at a lot be higher than 20. I always set it to 30 or 40 - much more lively that way. I think it goes up to 200.

For someone who hardly plays The Sims 4 for gameplay (mostly building) this looks GREAT for gameplay! So many fun things to do for teen sims. Maybe for once I won't actually get bored playing with the sims. This pack and the update feels very familiar to the Sims 2 with fun gameplay aspects. I cant wait!

I think the family tree needs clipping in the last part of werewolves. Like maybe put all immortal sims into columns house and make it a supernatural oap home. Then u can have loads more open lots to build and play with. It also means only one home to finish

It’s really common to paint your parking spaces at school in America. A lot of the time it’s only the seniors who get to do it in the senior parking lot.

Ngl in my last two years of secondary school/high school. My class was pretty small aswell, it was a class of 8 poeple. So these small classes aren't uncommon for me, I also found it more of a bonding experience and it made me and the other poeple in the class pretty close (due to how the school system works were I live we where always in the same classroom btw).
Traditionally in the UK, "sixth form" (for ages 16-18) classes are much smaller, about 8-10 people, so you can do more whole class discussion and get more attention from the teachers. Most schools don't have enough teachers to do that, but it is still seen as the ideal setup by teachers and some private schools teach that way.
Tbh I wouldnt have a clue as I dont know how the UK school system works as I don't live there myself. The reason we had a smaller class is cause the last two years were specific to what you wanted to do in the future either a job or the thing you'd study in college or university (not a lot of poeple wanted to do what I picked or just didnt pass the year before our last school year. As there where other classes with up to 25 pupils), but I guess that might be similar to "sixth form" but I'm not fully sure as I only looked it up rn and read the first few defenitions.
@@wintersnow yeah in the UK it's similar. After the exams at 16, people choose just a few subjects (usually 3 or 4) to study in 6th form.
Or you can start doing practical skills qualifications instead, not everyone goes to 6th from.

This is a really weird thing but I'm so glad that James always explains his backstory lore. Like, I follow so many Simmers who just "go watch this!" and it's like i dont wanna watch a 49 part series to get the lore for this one specific challenge lore to understand a quirky name. I will watch the previous series but I wanna catch up on this first; thanks for that, James. New sub from 2023 and I heavily appreciate it
The only thing I wish they added to this pack (that I see so far) is band in the after-school clubs
I think Angus should have a kid with Jacob as some kind of misguided ultimate werewolf diplomacy stunt (look, I'm human now, but I'm totally all for the mingeling of spiecies). In a comment on an earlier video someone said Angus' kid would have to be called Tunnel, but I'm also down for Mark, which is deceptively normal, but references them marking their teritory all over the place. And then have all the teens live together in some kind of "boarding school" setup

I am so glad I went to high school in the 90s, no social media. No record of the stupid stuff we did.
The fact that the whole carnival pier is just rabbit holes is super disappointing. Also having the whole sports field behind the school and literally none of it is interactive except the cheer mat? Would be cool to just be able to run around the track or use the soccer nets or sneak away from prom and chill in the bleachers :(
They put the soccer balls in discover university, and the soccer nets in high school, and the two will never interact. they are from different times....
you spend years (weeks) in school thinking "I wonder what these nets are for", and you never learn, because there is no PE class. And then you get to university, you see people "juggling" the soccer balls. But there are no nets. You will never see a soccer net again...
I love bubble tea! It's not just for teenagers! My favorite is strawberry milk tea with cherry boba. Keep up the great work James!
I'm from Australia too and at my high school kids were just allowed to use chalk to decorate parking spots for free when you're in year 12, it was just tradition to decorate a space of like where your favourite teacher always parked or whatever, never had to pay for a spot or anything or you can register to bring your car by signing some form or whatever
In American highschools you have to buy a parking space at the school if you want to drive there and you're able to paint the spot however you want it.
the combo thrift and bubble tea seems like such a weird choice by EA, like......why cant bubble tea just be cafe options and thrift store be it owns thing, or just different varieties of lots types like how the auditorium works

Edit: Cassandra Goth isn't that long extinct - Ambrose told Bella to go ahead and try for another baby during his LP. And I think there was a Goth descendent when Hazel had her own separate LP.
Plus, I think it'd be totally fine to add the updated Goths into the game.

I think the large school is great for people who have computer who can handle higher sim limits, but hopefully someone makes a much smaller school so it doesn't look so empty for the rest of us lol

The comment on the teacher parking spots having art and that not being realistic made me laugh! Those are definitely suppose to be student parking spots and it's relatively common, depending on the school. At my high school, sophomores/juniors had free unassigned spots toward the back of the student parking lot, but seniors could opt for closer, paid and assigned parking spots and were then allowed to decorate their spot. It was super fun and made the school some money.
When I was in high school, upper classmen could basically rent a parking space for the year and we could paint it however we wanted within certain restrictions. At my school, if you got to school and found your parking space occupied, you could go to the front office and they'd have the car towed or booted. I never bought a spot. It seemed to cause more trouble than it was worth.

Im only 10 mins in but this already looks like it has so much content for 1 game pack. Just like cottage living but not the same thing over again (taking care of the same animals).
I think you should take away the socially awkward trait so you can build tons of friendships and have a big group of friends!!

As much as i love the addition of cheerleading and football i wish you had to try out for the activity before actually joining it first
My highschool didn't have assigned parking when I went there, but when my cousins were there they added assigned parking and allowed seniors to decorate their lots with chalk after getting a design approved. Assigned parking was so traffic wouldn't be so backed up in the mornings, but I wasn't there to see if it actually worked lol
