I love your videos and I've tried a few of you recipes - they worked beautifully. Thank you for the free recipes fun-to-watch videos. I'm so envious of your cookbook collection!
Thank you Tracie! Cor, we’ve really fallen behind on our comments, I can’t believe this was a month ago. Hope you are doing well. I remember that the day we made this it was absolutely freezing so it was just what we needed to warm us up on a cold Sunday afternoon. Looks like we might have a few more coming up (much to our surprise, it started snowing an hour ago) so we’ll have to get through some warming more puds to make the most of it! 💕 Miss. HD
My mum always made this pudding as requested by my eldest brother. I still cook some of her old fashioned favourites, but I never learned this recipe. Thank you for doing this recipe as I can now make it. I love your videos about old fashioned recipes and cooking techniques.
This is exactly the reason why we make these recipes. There are so many old and wonderful recipes that never get passed on. If there are any other mum's favourites that you would like us to try, please let us know.
I never tasted or tried to make boiled pudding, but this reminds me of a dish my granny used to cook - a small pasta squares filled with jam but without suet.
That sounds so interesting! Is it a traditional dessert or a dish that she came up with herself? I think that it would have tasted quite similar to this because the suet paste is quite similar to the texture/taste of pasta, now that I think about it. 💕 Miss. HD
I'd been looking forward to this! :) As you know, I have tried out a few of the recipes I've seen on HDK, and I will definitely be trying this out. One of my family's fave puddings! Cheers guys xx
Let us know how you get on darling 😘 - just expect it to fill you up for days, and that’s coming from two people with stomachs like bottomless pits! Best eaten the evening before you want to move a tonne of bricks by hand or something similar (which is exactly what we did the next day 🤣 - long story), it’ll give you plenty of puff! 💕 Miss. HD
So sorry to say but this looks disgusting and reminds me of slippery wet pasta which I can't stand. I know boiling is an old way of cooking but it looks as if it would benefit from a hot blast from a blow lamp to at least brown the crust a touch to make it look more appetising.

That looks scrumptious and relatively easy to make. Great job, again. I hope you have a fantastic week.

@@handeddownkitchen8192 It's a traditional dish quite common in countries which were once part of Habsburg empire.
